Précarité et troubles psychologiques : l'effet médiateur de la perspective temporelle

International audienceThe aim of this study is to explore the role played by time perspective in the lived experience of precarious living conditions, by investingationg its social determinants and its function in the links between socioeconomic deprivation and psychological distress. Results from data collected in a sample of 275 persons recruited in a free health examination center made appear the social anchorage of TP, the impact of precariousness on the past time perspective and the relation between precariousness and psychological distress (anxiety and depression). Findings also support the hypothesis of a mediating role of time perspective in the sociogenesis of psychological distressL'objectif de cette étude est d'analyser le rôle joué par le rapport au temps dans le vécu des situations de précarité, au travers de l'étude des régulations sociales de la Perspective Temporelle (PT) et du rôle de cette variable psychosociale dans les liens entre situations de précarité et troubles psychologiques. L'analyse des données recueillies auprès de 275 consultants d'un centre d'examen de santé fait apparaître les régulations sociales dont la PT fait l'objet, ainsi que les liens que le rapport au passé entretient à la fois à la précarité et aux troubles psychologiques (troubles anxieux, humeur dépressive). Enfin, les résultats suggèrent le rôle médiateur joué par le rapport négatif au passé dans l'émergence des troubles psychologiques liés aux situations de précarité

L’entrée à l'université et ses difficultés : regards croisés à partir d’un dispositif du Plan Réussite Licence

Cette recherche repose sur l’analyse des notes et comptes-rendus établis à l’occasion de la mise en place d’un dispositif répondant aux objectifs du Plan Réussite Licence de lutte contre l’échec en première année d’université. Durant le premier semestre, des étudiants de première année étaient interrogés par des enseignants sur leurs attentes et vécus des premiers mois à l’université et étaient invités à aborder leurs éventuelles difficultés. Les résultats font apparaître d’une part l’enjeu que représente l’acclimatation au monde universitaire et, d’autre part, les logiques qui président à l’évaluation des difficultés des étudiants par leurs enseignants.This study was based on the analysis of 277 semi-directive interviews of first year undergraduate students in psychology, collected in the context of a French national initiative for academic achievement. During the fall semester, teaching staff interviewed first-year students concerning their experiences of their first months at university, their expectations of their university experience, and the challenges they potentially faced. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of the notes and summaries from these interviews revealed both the stakes of academic integration, and the rationales that lead teachers to consider some of the students as failing academically. Despite being atypical, data from this pedagogical experiment show how interactions and social representations have an impact on this kind of initiative. Results also questioned the concepts of academic success and failure in the context of recent reforms

A global look at time: a 24-country study of the equivalence of the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory

In this article, we assess the structural equivalence of the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI) across 26 samples from 24 countries (N = 12,200). The ZTPI is proven to be a valid and reliable index of individual differences in time perspective across five temporal categories: Past Negative, Past Positive, Present Fatalistic, Present Hedonistic, and Future. We obtained evidence for invariance of 36 items (out of 56) and also the five-factor structure of ZTPI across 23 countries. The short ZTPI scales are reliable for country-level analysis, whereas we recommend the use of the full scales for individual-level analysis. The short version of ZTPI will further promote integration of research in the time perspective domain in relation to many different psycho-social processes

Time perspective and cannabis use: Why and how it is more complex than we think

International audienceTime perspective was repeatedly evidenced as closely related to risky behaviors, and particularly substance use. From this research, future orientation appeared as a protective factor against substance use, whereas present time orientation was established as a risk factor. In this chapter, we review evidence of such a relation, but also highlight contradictory findings. When taking into account constructs related to self-regulation or risk perception, one may note that TP relation to health behaviors and substance use is more complex than expected. On the basis of recent studies, we then explore this complex relation and we propose some theoretical perspectives and a research agenda for a better understanding of-and for more efficient interventions on-substance and cannabis use behaviors

Le Centre d'Echanges de Lyon Perrache, son image, ses publics: Fonctions urbaines et dispositifs de prévention:: Rapport final de l'étude-action Centre d'Echanges de Lyon Perrache

This report examines the urban functions of a multimodal exchange center, based on a users survey at Lyon-Perrache . Centered on the uses identified as non-compliant , the study reveals the forms of uses and space appropriation and its urban functions within the city of Lyon . More broadly , analyzes question the status given to spaces appropriated by the excluded, and psychosocial affordances that places of transit produce for the most deprived. They also question the objectives and means of urban planification and social work , raise the need to address the issue of non-take-up , and highlight the limits of control of the urban vitality in third placesCe rapport interroge les fonctions urbaines d'un centre d'échange multimodal, en s'appuyant sur une enquête réalisée auprès de usagers du Centre d'Echange de Lyon-Perrache. Centrée sur les usages identifiés comme non-conformes, l'étude fait apparaître les formes d'appropriation de l'espace et les usages du lieu, ainsi que ses fonctions urbaines dans le cadre de la métropole lyonnaise. Plus globalement, les analyses questionnent le statut donné aux espaces appropriables par les exclus, et les affordances psychosociales que les lieux de passages produisent pour les plus fragiles. Elles questionnent aussi les objectifs et moyens de la prévention et du travail social, soulèvent la nécessité de traiter la question du non-recours, et soulignent la limite des ambitions de cadrillage et de contrôle de la vitalité urbaine qui s'exprime dans les tiers-lieux

Future time perspective as predictor of cannabis use: Exploring the role of substance perception among French adolescents.

International audienceThis study explored the relation of Future time perspective (FTP) to cannabis use and tested the potential mediating role of cannabis perception, with a sample of 276 French adolescents. FTP was assessed using ZTPI subscale, cannabis perception was evaluated from a list of nine items related to drug-oriented perception (DOP), and participants were asked to report both their cannabis use and the level of use. Results showed that FTP acts as a significant predictor of cannabis use, and is significantly linked to DOP. A significant relationship between DOP and cannabis use also appeared. Regression analyses showed that DOP acts as a mediator in the link between FTP and cannabis use. These findings confirm the protective role of FTP in cannabis use and suggest the indirect nature of this role

La polysémie du risque : La prévention face l'opérateur idéologique d'une nouvelle vision du monde

La notion de risque profite d'une polysémie à même de masquer son efficacité idéologique. En tant qu'opérateur de la pensée sociale, cette notion autorise la justification de la double contrainte imposée par l'idéologie libérale, l'acceptation de l'aléatoire et l'injonction à l'autonomie. La mise en perspective de cette notion au travers des champs sanitaires et sociaux, et la mise en évidence de ses implications temporelles permettent d'ouvrir des perspective de "démasquage psychosocial" de cet opérateur idéologique
