    Commitment for Anaemia Prevention is Associated with Adherence to Iron Supplementation and Iron Intake Among Pregnant Women

    Anaemia during pregnancy is still a major problem in the world which can affect the health of the mother and foetus. The commitment of pregnant women to improve adherence to iron supplementation and eating iron-rich foods can prevent iron deficiency anaemia.This study aimed to identify the correlation between of commitment for anaemia prevention with adherence to iron supplementation and iron intake. Design: The study was a cross-sectional study with a population sample of 125 pregnant women who attended antenatal care at five community health centres in Surabaya. The study was conducted from August to October 2017.The statistical test results showed the commitment statements, “I maintain personal hygiene by frequently washing hands”had the highest score (4.38 ± 0.67) and “ Itake iron supplements regularly even if it causes nausea” had the lowest score (4.05 ± 0.84). Of the four statements about adherence to iron supplementation, “I take iron supplements regularly every day” had the highest score (4.35 ± 0.86) while ‘I take iron supplements along with orange juice or vitamin C drinks’ had the lowest score of 1.52 ± 0.87. There was a significant association between commitment for anaemia prevention and adherence to iron supplementation during pregnancy (r = 0.227; p = 0.011) and between commitment for anaemia prevention and iron intake (r = 0.432; p <0.001). Health workers need to conduct health education about the prevention of anaemia in every pregnant woman who attends antenatal care.     The Relationship of Positive Emotions with the Cancer Patients Quality of Life in Halfway House

    The diagnosis and the treatment process of cancer causes a decrease in the quality of life of the patient. Positive emotions broaden thought-action repertoires and build a psychological, social, and physical resources which can affect the health status. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship of positive emotions with the quality of life of the patients in Rumah Singgah Pasien Surabaya. This study used a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 43 cancer patients who live in Rumah Singgah Pasien IZI Jatim and Rumah Singgah Sasana Marsudi Husada Consecutive Sampling. The independent variable in this study was positive emotions that were measured using the Modified Differential Emotions Scale (mDES) questionnaire with Cronbanch’s ɑ = 0,882 and the content validity is 0,041, while the dependent variable of this study was the quality of life of the cancer patients measured using the European Organization for the Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnare C30 (EORTC QLQ -C30). The data analysis used the Spearman's test with p value &lt;0.05. The result of this study indicates that positive emotions and quality of life have a direct relationship with weak strength (p = 0.040) and (r = 0.315). Most of respondents had high level of positive emotions and great quality of life. It can be concluded that the higher the level of positive emotional experience, the higher the cancer patients’ quality of life

    THE BEHAVIOR OF PRE ELDERLY WOMEN MENOPAUSE IN THE REGION OF PUSKESMAS KENJERAN

    Introduction: Menopause is part of aging process that occurs in women. The processinvolved physiological and psychological aspects. Menopause needs more attention on the health of women, especially elderly women which experienced in menopause. This study aimed to analyze the factors affect to behavior of women who experience in menopause. Method: The study design was descriptive analitic. Sample in this study was 36 respondents aged 45-59 years. Independent variable in this study were factors related to the behavior of pre-elderly women knowledge namely attitudes, beliefs, and values. Dependent variable study was the behaviour of pre-elderly women who experienced menopause. Data were analyzed used Spearman rho correlation test with α<0,05. Result: The result of statistical analysis with spearman rho correlation test indicates that the level of knowledge (p=0,001) and attitudes (p=0,0027) had correlation with the behavior of pre-elderly women. Beliefs (p=0,263) and values (p=0,762) had no corelation with the behavior of pre-elderly women who experienced menopause. Discussion: It can be concluded that knowledge and good attitudes can increase the good behavior, while values and beliefs had no related with the behavior of pra-elderly women who experienced menopause.     The Relationship of Social Support with Older Adult Depression in Hargo Dedali Nursing Home, Surabaya

    Older adults are vulnerable to health problems including depression caused by stress when facing changes in their life, such as retirement, illness, disability, placement in a nursing home, the death of a partner and the reduced availability of social support. This study aimed to explain the relationship of social support with the incidence rate of depression in older adults in Hargo Dedali Nursing Home, Surabaya. This research used a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 20 older adults who lived in Panti Werdha Hargo Dedali Surabaya who were selected through purposive sampling. The independent variable was the social support of the older adults while the dependent variable was the incidence rate of depression. The data analysis used was Spearman rho with p = 0.037, r = -0.468 and a significance level of α <0.05. There was a significant relationship between social support and the incidence of older adult depression in Hargo Dedali nursing home, Surabaya. The higher the level of social support, the lower the incidence of older adult depression. Health workers, especially nurses, can improve their competencies in order to provide health services to the older adults, especially when related to the provision of social support and the anticipated incidence of depression in the nursing home.     Theory of Planned Behaviour for Cervical Cancer Prevention - View of Husband Support

    The husband’s support is an important interpersonal factor in the prevention of cervical cancer performed by women but there are also women who have received support from their husbands who are still reluctant to make an effort related to the early detection of cervical cancer. This study aims to analyse the factors related to the husband’s support behaviour in cervical cancer prevention based on the Theory of Planned Behavior. This study used a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 102 husbands within childbearing couples taken using a cluster sampling technique. The variables of the research included the husband’s attitude, the subjective norm, perceived behavioural control, intention and support behaviour in relation to cervical cancer prevention. Data analysis was performed using Spearman Rho with α ≀0.05. The results showed there to be a significant relationship between attitude and intention (p=0.000; r=0.377), perceived behavioral control and intention (p=0.003; r=0.289) and the intention with the husband’s support behaviour in terms of cervical cancer prevention (p =0.000; r=0.431). The subjective norms within the intention indicate a significant relationship (p=0.059; r=0.188). To improve the prevention of cervical cancer, health care providers and health institutions should involve the husband to reduce female morbidity and mortality from cervical cancer

    Pemberian Complementary and Alternative Medicine pada Pasien Kanker

    This study aims to analyze the effect of giving Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) to cancer patients. The method used is a systematic review using three databases: PubMed, Science Direct, and Google Scholar. The results showed that of the fourteen articles reviewed, thirteen articles showed that the use of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) could reduce the side effects of chemotherapy, increase self-confidence in physical, social, and body image functions, provide satisfaction with life, and reduce anxiety. , positive quality of life enhances hereditary resistance, improves well-being, and overcoming the disease. One article states that CAM users report more severe anxiety and skin or hair changes.In conclusion, some types of CAM have beneficial effects for some clients. Still, on the other hand, there are adverse effects without the client realizing that this therapy can be a source of chemicals that can interact with conventional drugs.     Introduction: Anxiety is an unpleasant feeling or sense of uncertainty felt by someone. Adolescents who experience anxiety can be caused by menstruation, especially at the early menarche age of 1-3. Untreated Anxiety can interfere aldolescent’s study. This study aim to investigate the relationship between mother’s social support with adolescent’s anxiety in confronting menstruation. Method: this study was a descriptive analytical with cross sectional approach. The population was student in 6th grade in SDN Panjang Jiwo 1 Surabaya. The 26 sample respondents were chosen by purposive sampling technique. The independent variable in this study was mother’s social support. The dependent variable was adolescent’s anxiety. The data was collected using questionnare and analyzed using Spearmen rho test with a degree of significance p ≀ 0,05. Result: Most adolecent students experiencing mild anxiety(65,3%), though there were experiencing moderate anxiety (34,7%). The correlation between perceived susceptibility p = 0,034 with significant r = -0,418. Discussion: Mother’s social support was strong enough towards adolescent’s anxiety in confronting menstruation. Further research was suggested to invole mother as a respondent to decrease adolescent’s anxiety to comfront menstruation. Keywords: mother’s social support, adolescent’s anxiety, menstruatio

    Analisis Hubungan Gaya Hidup dengan Kualitas Hidup Wanita Pasangan Subur Akseptor KB IUD

    Penggunaan KB IUD yang rendah dapat mempengaruhi kualitas hidup keluarga. Semakin rendah penggunaan kontrasepsi maka semakin rendah kualitas hidup. Berbagai faktor termasuk gaya hidup yang diterapkan  diduga mempengaruhi kualitas hidup  akseptor KB  IUD. Tujuan penelitian ini  menjelaskan hubungan gaya hidup dengan kualitas hidup wanita pasangan subur akseptor KB IUD. Metode: Desain penelitian ini  korelasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah 120 akseptor KB IUD di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Mulyorejo Surabaya. Besar  sampel 92  wanita usia subur akseptor  KB IUD diperoleh  dengan  purposive sampling, dengan kriteria inklusi wanita usia subur 18-40 tahun, tinggal serumah dengan suami dan dapat berkomunikasi secara lisan dan verbal. Variabel independen gaya hidup. Variabel dependen  kualitas hidup. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner gaya hidup dari Prihatiningsih dan kualitas hidup WHOQOL-BREF yang telah diterjemahkan untuk kualitas kehidupan dari WHO. Uji statistik dengan Spearman’s rho test. Hasil: Tidak hubungan signifikan antara gaya hidup dengan kualitas hidup (p=0,960, r=0,005). Pembahasan: Gaya hidup responden sebagian besar adalah gaya hidup sehat. Faktor gaya hidup yang berhubungan dengan kualitas hidup adalah aktivias fisik, lingkungan, perilaku konsumtif, dan managemen strees. Hal ini tidak bisa menjadi patokan untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup seseorang. Karena gaya hidup sehat tidak selalu penyumbang terbesar pada kualitas hidup, tapi ada faktor lain yang perlu diperhatikan. Karena dari hasil penelitian di dapatkan responden lebih mandiri, jadi tidak membutuhkan gaya hidup yang cukup untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidupnya. Perlu dilakukannya penelitian lebih lanjut tentang faktor lain yang berhubungan kualitas hidup akseptor  KB

    HEALTH BELIEVE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION ON THE ANALYZE OF FAMILY DECISION TO VISIT THE PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER

    Introduction : Dengue Haemorhagic Fever (DHF) is one of infecsius deseases. These deseases can have serious complications and kill the patients. Dengue Haemorhagic Fever (DHF) deseases that is suffered to the patients has become a heavy complication in Tembok Dukuh village. By the health belief model implementation, the patients got earlier response as soon as possible. The objective of the study was to analyze family’s decision for visiting Puskesmas in earlier response of Dengue Haemorhagic Fever (DHF). This descriptive analytic was conducted at work area of Puskesmas Tembok Dukuh Surabaya. The population was the family with Dengue Haemorhagic Fever (DHF) patient from Januari 2007 until July 2009. Method : Clustered design was used to take the sample. Total sample were 65 respondents, taken according to inclusion criteria. The independent variables were health belief model about perceived susceptibility, perceived seriousness, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, and cues to action. The dependent variable was family’s decision for visiting Puskesmas in earlier response of Dengue Haemorhagic Fever (DHF). Data was collecting using structured questionnaire. Data that had collected were later analyzed with frequency distribution of each category. Result : Result showed that perceived susceptibility most family was in middle category, perceived seriousness most family was in high category, most of family got the benefits, most of family also got the barriers, and all of the respondents have cues to action. The family’s decision to visit Puskesmas for the earlier Dengue Haemorhagic Fever (DHF) response  was founded in a few of family. Analysis :  It can be concluded that most of the family didn’t have a steady decisison to visit Puskesmas for the earlier Dengue Haemorhagic Fever response. It can be proved by there are most of family chose the others health service. Discussion : Health workers in Desease Eradication Departement (P2M) should sosialize the Puskesmas program  related with the earlier Dengue Haemorhagic Fever (DHF) response. So that, the family has believed that visiting Puskesmas is important for the earlier Dengue Haemorhagic Fever (DHF) response

    PEER GROUP SUPPORT DECREASE DEPRESSION LEVEL IN MENOPAUSE WOMAN

    Introduction: Menopause woman has higher depression level than pre and postmenopause woman. Many woman who are getting menopause will feel lonely and don’t have any friends to talk, if this situation continue it can cause menopausal depression. Peer group support is one of group therapy which gives opportunity to menopause woman to get mutual support and help them to face the problem. This aimed of this study was to analyze the effect of peer group support in the menopause woman depression level. Method: A quasy experimental pre-post test design was used in this study. There were 16 menopause women taken from Cepokomulyo Kepanjen. The independent variable was peer group support and the dependent variable was the depression level. Data were analyzed by Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann Whitney U Test with the significance level α<0.05. Result: Result showed that there was an effect of peer group support in the menopause woman depression level with significance level p=0.011 (treatment group) and p=0.23 (controlled group) and the result of Mann Whitney U Test showed that p=0.02. Discussion: It can be concluded that peer group support can reduce the menopause woman depression level. It can be suggested to the institutional to practice peer group support to help menopause woman reduce their depression level
