Wireless powered D2D communications underlying cellular networks: design and performance of the extended coverage

    Get PDF
Because of the short battery life of user equipments (UEs), and the requirements for better quality of service have been more demanding, energy efficiency (EE) has emerged to be important in device-to-device (D2D) communications. In this paper, we consider a scenario, in which D2D UEs in a half-duplex decode-and-forward cognitive D2D communication underlying a traditional cellular network harvest energy and communicate with each other by using the spectrum allocated by the base station (BS). In order to develop a practical design, we achieve the optimal time switching (TS) ratio for energy harvesting. Besides that, we derive closed-form expressions for outage probability, sum-bit error rate, average EE and instantaneous rate by considering the scenario when installing the BS near UEs or far from the UEs. Two communication types are enabled by TS-based protocol. Our numerical and simulation results prove that the data rate of the D2D communication can be significantly enhanced.Web of Science58439939

Performance analysis with wireless power transfer constraint policies in full-duplex relaying networks

    Get PDF
In practice, full-duplex (FD) transmission mode not only helps extend the coverage but also lengthen network lifetime. In this paper, we develop wireless power supply policies, namely separated power (SP) and harvested power (HP) to propose a flexible architecture at the relay node in FD decode-and-forward (DF) relaying networks considering time switching-based relaying protocol (TSR) to achieve optimal time used for a communication process. This transmission mode requires more processing procedure at the relay, i.e. antenna installations and radio frequency (RF) self-interference cancellation. We evaluate the optimal power constraints in case of SP and HP to achieve better power consumption efficiency at the relay node. More importantly, closed-form expressions for outage probability and throughput are provided, and we also use numerical and simulation results to compare SP with HP.Web of Science234767

On the effective viscosity of fresh concrete: A homogenization approach

    Get PDF
Two new homogenization schemes together with the classical generalized self-consistent scheme (GSC) and its extension are proposed to deal with the effective viscosity of fresh concrete. All these models exploit the composite sphere morphology of suspension made of a viscous fluid and spherical particles. They differ from each other by the ways the extra fluid zone (EFZ) located in between the composite sphere are treated. The comparison with experimental data shows that the GSC provides very good result for a well arranged particle size scale that allows mapping the whole medium by composite spheres of different size scales. However, the GSC cannot be used for a suspension with a non negligible volume of the EFZ. For such a case, extensions of the GSC those take into account the contribution of the EFZ to the overall viscous behavior of the system is necessary to fit with experimental data. Two of them work very well for non-cohesive particles and the other can be employed for suspension with cohesive particles such as the case of fresh cement paste

ANFIS: Establishing and Applying to Managing Online Damage

    Get PDF
Fuzzy logic (FL) and artificial neural networks (ANNs) own individual advantages and disadvantages. Adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS), a fuzzy system deployed on the structure of ANN, by which FL and ANN can interact to not only overcome their limitations but also promote the ability of each model has been considered as a reasonable option in the real fields. With the vital strong points, ANFIS has been employed well in many technology applications related to filtering, identifying, predicting, and controlling noise. This chapter, however, focuses mainly on building ANFIS and its application to identifying the online bearing fault. First, a traditional structure of ANFIS as a data-driven model is shown. Then, a recurrent mechanism depicting the relation between the processes of filtering impulse noise (IN) and establishing ANFIS from a noisy measuring database is presented. Finally, one of the typical applications of ANFIS related to online managing bearing fault is shown

Outage performance analysis of non-orthogonal multiple access with time-switching energy harvesting

    Get PDF
In recent years, although non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has shown its potentials thanks to its ability to enhance the performance of future wireless communication networks, a number of issues emerge related to the improvement of NOMA systems. In this work, we consider a half-duplex (HD) relaying cooperative NOMA network using decode-and-forward (DF) transmission mode with energy harvesting (Ell) capacity, where we assume the NOMA destination (D) is able to receive two data symbols in two continuous time slots which leads to the higher transmission rate than traditional relaying networks. To analyse EH, we deploy time-switching (TS) architecture to comprehensively study the optimal transmission time and outage performance at D. In particular, we are going to obtain closed-form expressions for outage probability (OP) with optimal TS ratio for both data symbols with both exact and approximate forms. The given simulation results show that the placement of the relay (R) plays an important role in the system performance.Web of Science253918

Football is ruminated in the guise of the most foremost and modish sports in Bangladesh reminiscent of other countries of the world, as sports are frolicked under prodigious coercion, young football athletes perpetually stumble into divergent circumstances which incorporate affirmative and apathetic scenarios confiding in athlete’s concurrent whereabouts & prospect dispatch which narrates to burnout. The perusal maneuvered motivation as an independent variable, basic need satisfaction which exerted as mediator variable and social support plied as moderator variable that governed young player’s burnout to ebb or to surge. The purpose of the study was to interrogate the relationship among burnout and motivation, social support, basic need satisfaction. The paper pursued quantitative technique to amass accessible data in which five hundred and twelve adolescent football players were surveyed in Bangladesh and their age ranged between 15 to 25 years. The survey questionnaire was in four tranches encompassing Athlete burnout questionnaire, Basic Need Satisfaction scale, Motivation questionnaire & SARASON Social Support scale; furthermore, the study wielded Pearson Correlation analysis, Moderated regression analysis and Process in the course of score reckoning. The study instituted that motivation and social support unconstructively associated with burnout and basic need satisfaction allied moderately with the burnout, when burnout escalates, motivation, social support, and basic need satisfaction went down or when burnout dwindles all of the independent variables augment. The research formed factors relationship with each other and comprehended coping tactic how athletes could trounce their melancholy, fatigue and mental grievance to burgeon their sports recital and would scrutinize players commotion towards their contented & constructive precinct as well.  Article visualizations

Asymmetry and Symmetry of real exchange rate effect on the bilateral trade balance between Vietnam and the United States: aggregated and disaggregated levels of investigation

    Get PDF
Bilateral trade balance always deserves particular interest of policy makers and economists. In this paper, we examined the asymmetric and symmetric effect of real exchange rate on bilateral trade balance between Vietnam and the US at both aggregated and disaggregated commodity levels. We employed both Linear Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) and Non-linear ARDL (NARDL) models to a dataset spanning over 18 years. We found that (i) both symmetry and asymmetry of real exchange rates are not significant to explain the total trade balance between Vietnam and the United States; (ii) unlike the insignificant effect on the aggregated level, the empirical evidence at the disaggregated level is mixed and dependent on product category. Our findings reveal that (iii) the claim of unfair trade by using exchange rate from the US Treasury is unclear from our estimations; and (iv) a depreciation of USD (i.e. appreciation of VND) leads the long-run US’s trade balance will improve for 10 commodities, and whereas an appreciation of USD (depreciation of VND), long-run trade balance will improve for 11 commodities. The results suggest that only a number of specific industries will benefit from USD appreciation or depreciation
