Asymmetric Impacts of Public Debt on Economic Growth: Empirical Evidence From Vietnam

    Get PDF
Purpose: The objective studies the influence of government debt on the expansion of the Vietnamese economy was the subject of the research presented in this article.   Theoretical framework: Most governments in developing nations have budget deficits due to excessive spending and inadequate revenue. When the government chooses to pay the budget deficit through borrowing, it incurs a liability known as public debt and public debt on economic growth.   Design/methodology/approach: In regression analysis involving time series data, if the regression model contains the variables' present values and the lagged values (past values), this model is known as the lagged distribution model. If the model's explanatory variables include one or more lagged values of the dependent variable, the model is called the autoregressive model. Nonlinear Auto Regressive Distributed Lag regression was applied.   Findings: The findings reveal that government debt has a considerable and disproportionate effect on sustained economic growth in the short and long run using a Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag (NARDL) model with quarterly data over twenty years beginning in 2000.   Research, Practical & Social implications: The results indicate a disproportional association between public sector debt levels and short- and long-term economic growth. The results are consistent with recent empirical studies showing a nonlinear relationship between some nations' public debt and economic development.   Originality/value: Government debt should support short- and long-term economic growth through funding production. Consequently, government debt should not burden the economy when the high amount of debt exceeds the capacity to repay

ACTUAL SITUATION OF HUMAN RESOURCES WITH BACHELOR’S DEGREE OF SPORTS MAJORING IN BASKETBALL AT BAC NINH SPORT UNIVERSITY OF VIETNAM

The study investigated the assessing the actual situation of human resources with bachelor’s degree in Basketball major, Bac Ninh Sport University of Viet Nam in the period of 2015-2019 through the following criteria: characteristics of the major graduates and job searching results of the bachelors after graduation. The result showed that the percentage of enrolled and graduated students majoring in Basketball accounts for a high percentage of the total students in the university. However, the number of students majoring in Basketball does the right job after leaving university is still low. The level of meeting the social requirements of Bachelors of Sports majoring in Basketball is mainly at the average level.  Article visualizations

Determination of dynamic impact factor for continuous girder bridge due to vehicle braking force by finite element method and experimental

    Get PDF
In this study, the finite element method (FEM) is used to investigate the dynamic response of continuous girder bridge due to moving three-axle vehicle . Vertical reaction forces of axles that change with time make bending vibration of girder significantly  increase. The braking in the first span is able to create response in other spans. In addition, the dynamic impact factors are investigated by both FEM and experiment for Hoa Xuan bridge. The results of this study provide an improved understanding of the bridge dynamic behavior and can be used as additional references for bridge codes by practicing engineers

Influence of ground motion duration on seismic fragility of base isolated NPP structures

    Get PDF
This study investigates the influence of earthquake duration on seismic fragility of base isolated nuclear power plant (NPP) structures. Two groups of ground motions are employed in performing time history analyses, in which short duration (SD) and long duration (LD) characteristics are considered. The advanced power reactor 1400 (APR1400) NPP structures are used for developing finite element model, which is constructed using lumped-mass stick elements. A series of 486 lead rubber bearings (LRBs) are installed under the base mat of the NPP structures to reduce the seismic damage. Seismic responses of the base isolated NPP are quantified in terms of lateral displacements and hysteretic energy distributions of LRBs. Seismic fragility curves for damage states, which are defined based on the deformation of LRB, are developed. The results reveal that the average lateral displacements of LRBs under SD and LD motions are very similar. For PGA larger than 0.4g, the mean deformation of LRB for LD motions is higher than that for SD motions. The probability of damage of base isolated NPP structures under LD motions is reduced approximately 15% compared to that asubjected to SD earthquakes. This finding emphasizes that it is crucial to use both SD and LD ground motions in seismic evaluations of base isolated NPP structure
