A characterization of the algebraic degree in semidefinite programming
In this article, we show that the algebraic degree in semidefinite
programming can be expressed in terms of the coefficient of a certain monomial
in a doubly symmetric polynomial. This characterization of the algebraic degree
allows us to use the theory of symmetric polynomials to obtain many interesting
results of Nie, Ranestad and Sturmfels in a simpler way.Comment: 14 page
Uloga osobina ličnosti u oblikovanju poduzetničke namjere: Komparativna studija Južne Koreje i Vijetnama
This paper investigates the role of personality traits in nurturing entrepreneurial
intention in South Korea and Vietnam. We developed a research model to examine the
integrated influence of both positive entrepreneurial characteristics and dark triad on
entrepreneurial intention in South Korea and Vietnam. Primary data was collected
from 550 students in South Korea and 700 students in Vietnam using the convenient
sampling method in a self-administered questionnaire survey. We used structural
equation modelling (SEM) to analyse structural relationships between positive
entrepreneurial attributes, dark triads, and entrepreneurial intention in two samples.
T-tests were also performed to explore any differences in students’ entrepreneurial
intention in South Korea and Vietnam regarding their family background and gender.
Findings showed that positive entrepreneurial attributes and dark triads influence
entrepreneurial intention differently in the two countries. While the dark triad mainly
influenced Vietnamese students’ intention to startup, Korean students received more
impact from the positive entrepreneurial characteristics such as risk tolerance, locus
of control, and entrepreneurial alertness. Surprisingly, both gender and family
tradition do not affect students’ entrepreneurial intention. Based on our findings, we
suggested that policymakers and higher education institutions in both South Korea
and Vietnam promote students’ entrepreneurial intentions in the future.Ovaj rad istražuje ulogu osobina ličnosti u njegovanju poduzetničkih namjera u
Južnoj Koreji i Vijetnamu. Razvili smo znanstveni model za ispitivanje integriranog
utjecaja pozitivnih poduzetničkih karakteristika kao i utjecaj mračne trijade na
poduzetničke namjere u Južnoj Koreji i Vijetnamu. Primarni podaci dobiveni
anketiranjem 550 studenata u Južnoj Koreji i 700 studenata u Vijetnamu
prikupljeni su korištenjem prikladne metode uzorkovanja u anketi koju su sami
proveli. Koristili smo modeliranje strukturnim jednadžbama (SEM) za analizu
strukturnih odnosa između pozitivnih poduzetničkih atributa, tamnih trijada i
poduzetničke namjere u dva uzorka. Također su provedeni T-testovi kako bi se
istražile razlike u poduzetničkim namjerama studenata u Južnoj Koreji i Vijetnamu
s obzirom na njihovo obiteljsko porijeklo i spol. Rezultati su pokazali da pozitivne
poduzetničke osobine i mračne trijade različito utječu na poduzetničke namjere u
dvije zemlje.
kreatori politika i visokoškolske ustanove u Južnoj Koreji i Vijetnamu promiču
poduzetničke namjere studenata u budućnosti

Shortage in Access to Basic Social Services: A Case Study of Ethnic Minority Groups in Vietnam
The research uses shortages in the multi-dimensional poverty criteria and household living standards survey data collected by the General Statistic Office to evaluate the access to basic social services by ethnic minorities. The result shows significant differences in shortages between the Kinh and ethnic minorities, among ethnic minority groups and among localities. Differences in geographical location, level of development and lacking specific policies are the main causes. A number of policy recommendations has been made to narrow the gap in access to basic social services among ethnic minority groups in Vietnam. Anti-inflammatory activity of methyl ferulate isolated from Stemona tuberosa Lour
AbstractObjectiveTo evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of methyl ferulate (MF) isolated from the roots of Stemona tuberosa (S. tuberosa) Lour (Stemonaceae) in lipopolysaccharide activated macrophage cells.MethodsMethanol extracts of a root powder of S. tuberosa were prepared for isolation of a potential anti-inflammatory agent using ultrasound extraction combined with repeated chromatography on silica gel. After the quantitative analyses, anti-inflammatory activity of the isolated compound was evaluated by measurement of cytokine release, NO generation, expression of cyclooxygenase-2 and phosphorylation of mitogen activated protein kinases including p38 and c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase using quantitative kits and Western blotting with specific antibodies.ResultsThe isolation process yielded a potential anti-inflammatory compound with a purity level of 99% determined by high performance liquid chromatography. The compound was identified as MF by using nuclear magnetic resonance. MF strongly inhibited the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines from macrophages, including IL-6, TNFα, IFNγ, yet it did not affect the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10. Phosphorylation of p38 and c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase were clearly reduced in MF-treated macrophages stimulated with lipopolysaccharide. cyclooxygenase-2 expression and NO generation by macrophages were also suppressed when the cells were treated with MF.ConclusionsThe data suggested that MF is a possible inhibitor of the mitogen activated phosphor kinase pathway and could be a potential anti-inflammatory agent isolated for the first time in medicinal plant S. tuberosa
Impact of Vocational Education and Training On Decent Job Opportunities Regarding Information and Communication Technology
Vocational education and training plays a crucial part in the creation of decent job. The fast growth of information and communication technology (ICT) during the past ten years has increased work opportunities for laborers. This research uses the yearly labor force survey data to study the impact of vocational education and training on decent job opportunities for employees in the context of Vietnam's information and communication technology development. The logit model results indicate that the 2020 rate of decent jobs is still low, at approximately 25.6 percent. However, vocational education and training and the advancement of ICT positively affect decent job opportunities. This long-lasting impact affects laborers in various areas, regions, and industries. These findings suggest that vocational education and training and ICT must play a significant role in transitioning from precarious to more secure employment, so laborers must acquire professional knowledge and information technology skills
ANALYZING THE FACTORS AFFECTING FACIAL CLEANSER DEMAND AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE IN VIETNAM
The research analyzes the factors affecting the demand for made-in-Vietnam facial cleanseramong the Vietnamese youth. Based on the theory of commodity demand, the research team builds a survey form and collects responses from 415 students at high schools and universities in Vietnam on the factors affecting their demand for made-in-Vietnam facial cleansers. The synthesis and analysis of survey data show that the demand for face wash products among Vietnamese young people is influenced by many factors such as the price of the products, income, interests, prices of related goods, expectations of themarket, etc. Besides, the research team also considers the advantages of Vietnamese face wash products compared to imported products and young consumers' expectations for the products as well as their beliefs and supportfor made-in-Vietnam facial cleanser products in the future
Investigating the diversity of resistant starch in Vietnamese rice collection
The rapid increase of obesity and type 2 diabetes has recently posed an enormous burden on the healthcare system worldwide. Resistant starch (RS) in rice can escape digestion by enzymes in the small intestine, making its calories unavailable for cells to use. As a result, RS can be used by diabetes patients to prevent diabetes and for obese individuals who do not want extra energy. In our study, 75 Vietnamese rice accessions originating from diverse ecosystems were chosen as plant materials to investigate the diversity of RS content in this collection. The Megazyme kit was used to measure the amount of RS. The release of quinonimine was measured using a spectrophotometer at 510 nm. The results showed that approximately 70% of Vietnamese rice accessions had RS content ranging from 0.015 to 0.2% while only 4% of samples had RS content ranging from 0.6 to 0.8%. The Indica subgroups had significantly higher RS content than the Japonica subgroup. Higher RS content was found in medium- and short- grain rice rather than in long grain. Finally, rice plants grown in rainfed lowlands (RL) and irrigated ecosystems had higher RS content than those grown under mangrove and upland ecosystems. Our results firstly give information about the diversity of RS in Vietnamese rice and secondly may contribute to the field of nutrition by developing a suitable rice-based diet for patients with diabetes or obesity
