    Background: Cerebral microbleeds (CMB) signal cerebral small vessel disease and are associated with ischemic stroke (IS) incidence, recurrence, and complications. While illicit drug use (IDU) is associated with cerebral small vessel disease, the association between CMB and IDU is understudied. We sought to delineate differences in vascular risk factors between IDU and CMB and determine the effect of this relationship on outcomes in IS/transient ischemic attack (TIA) patients. Methods: We included 2001 consecutive IS and TIA patients (years 2009-2018) with a readable T2*gradient-echo MRI sequence. CMB rating followed standardized guidelines and CMB were grouped topographically into lobar, deep or infratentorial. IDU data (history and/or urine toxicology) was available for 1746 patients. The adverse composite outcome included pneumonia, urinary tract infection, deep venous thrombosis or death during hospitalization. Good functional outcome was defined as modified Rankin scale score < 3 and ambulatory on discharge. Univariate analysis was used to assess vascular risk factors and multivariable logistic regression was used to characterize the IDU/CMB relationship on outcomes. Results: We observed IDU in 13.8 % (n=241), and CMB in 32.9% (n=575, 53.8% lobar, 27.3% deep and 18.8% infratentorial). Patients with IDU and at least one CMB were older (53.6±10.5 vs. 56.9±11.5, p=0.04), had a lower BMI (28.1±5.9 vs. 26.6±4.4, p=0.04), and were more likely to have had a previous IS/TIA (25.1% vs. 41.9%, p=0.01). IDU trended higher for those with severe CMB (10+) compared with those without CMB and 1-9 CMB (25% [n=9] vs 14.3% [n=1171] and 12.1% [n=65] respectively; p=0.07) without individual drug deviations from this pattern. Adverse and good functional outcomes were observed in 177 and 905 total patients, respectively. No significant interaction was observed between IDU and CMB with either adverse or functional composite outcomes. Conclusion: IDU prevalence was high in our urban study population, and showed a borderline association with increasing CMB burden. Patients with CMB and IDU history were older and more likely to have had a previous IS/TIA.     A Systematic Mapping Study on Approaches for AI-Supported Security Risk Assessment

    Effective assessment of cyber risks in the increasingly dynamic threat landscape must be supported by artificial intelligence techniques due to their ability to dynamically scale and adapt. This article provides the state of the art of AI-supported security risk assessment approaches in terms of a systematic mapping study. The overall goal is to obtain an overview of security risk assessment approaches that use AI techniques to identify, estimate, and/or evaluate cyber risks. We carried out the systematic mapping study following standard processes and identified in total 33 relevant primary studies that we included in our mapping study. The results of our study show that on average, the number of papers about AI-supported security risk assessment has been increasing since 2010 with the growth rate of 133% between 2010 and 2020. The risk assessment approaches reported have mainly been used to assess cyber risks related to intrusion detection, malware detection, and industrial systems. The approaches focus mostly on identifying and/or estimating security risks, and primarily make use of Bayesian networks and neural networks as supporting AI methods/techniques.acceptedVersio

However, developing gas sensors that are not only efficient but also small and inexpensive and therefore integrable into everyday life is a difficult challenge. In this paper, we report on a resistive sensor for ammonia detection based on thin V2O5 nanosheets operating at room temperature. The small thickness and porosity of the V2O5 nanosheets give the sensors good performance for sensing ammonia at room temperature (RT), with a relative change of resistance of 9.4% to 5 ppm ammonia (NH3) and an estimated detection limit of 0.4 ppm. The sensor is selective with respect to the seven interferents tested; it is repeatable and stable over the long term (four months). Although V2O5 is generally an n-type semiconductor, in this case the nanosheets show a p-type semiconductor behavior, and thus a possible sensing mechanism is proposed.     Radiomics strategies for risk assessment of tumour failure in head-and-neck cancer

    Quantitative extraction of high-dimensional mineable data from medical images is a process known as radiomics. Radiomics is foreseen as an essential prognostic tool for cancer risk assessment and the quantification of intratumoural heterogeneity. In this work, 1615 radiomic features (quantifying tumour image intensity, shape, texture) extracted from pre-treatment FDG-PET and CT images of 300 patients from four different cohorts were analyzed for the risk assessment of locoregional recurrences (LR) and distant metastases (DM) in head-and-neck cancer. Prediction models combining radiomic and clinical variables were constructed via random forests and imbalance-adjustment strategies using two of the four cohorts. Independent validation of the prediction and prognostic performance of the models was carried out on the other two cohorts (LR: AUC = 0.69 and CI = 0.67; DM: AUC = 0.86 and CI = 0.88). Furthermore, the results obtained via Kaplan-Meier analysis demonstrated the potential of radiomics for assessing the risk of specific tumour outcomes using multiple stratification groups.     Food quality schemes (FQS: organic and geographical indication products) are often supposed to be more sustainable by their political advocates. We explore the social sustainability advantage of FQS through the lens of supply chains’ bargaining power (BP) distribution. We propose an indicator synthesizing different sources underlying BP (competition-based, transactional, institutional) and counting two dimensions (fair BP distribution and adaptation capacity), that we apply to 18 FQS supply chains and corresponding reference. FQS perform better than their reference products on both dimensions.     Growth of high quality InP layers in STI trenches on miscut Si (001) substrates

    In this work, we report the selective area epitaxial growth of high quality InP in shallow trench isolation (STI) structures on Si (0 0 1) substrates 6° miscut toward (1 1 1) using a thin Ge buffer layer. We studied the impact of growth rates and steric hindrance effects on the nano-twin formation at the STI side walls. It was found that a too high growth rate induces more nano-twins in the layer and results in InP crystal distortion. The STI side wall tapering angle and the substrate miscut angle induced streric hindrance between the InP facets and the STI side walls also contribute to defect formation. In the [-1 1 0] orientated trenches, when the STI side wall tapering angle is larger than 10°, crystal distortion was observed while the substrate miscut angle has no significant impact on the InP defect formation. In the [-1 1 0] trenches, both the increased STI tapering angle and the substrate miscut angle induce high density of defects. With a small STI tapering angle and a thin Ge layer, we obtained extended defect free InP in the top region of the [1 1 0] trenches with aspect ratio larger than 2
