The Impact of State Religious Policies on Christian Women’s Leadership Status in Vietnam: The Case of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam Since 1975
This paper contributes to a feminist critique of multiculturalism by presenting the complexity of the relationship among the state, religion and women in the context of Vietnam. By taking the Evangelical Church of Vietnam—South as a case study, and based on both primary and secondary data obtained from in-depth interviews with 38 Vietnamese female and male church leaders in 2014–2016, and four months of fieldwork in southern Vietnam between February and May 2016, the paper argues that the assumption of equal rights and citizenship status for all women in the wider society according to the liberal model of multiculturalism cannot be directly applied in Vietnam. State religious policies in this country play a significant role in the double reduction of Christian women’s and status in terms of leadership first in the wider society and second in the religious community itself despite the existence of national advanced gender law and the government’s tight control of religious groups. The failure of both this church and the government in upholding the governmental gender policies within this religious organization has complex causes rights embedded in the context of Vietnam. This paper looks into the government’s political concern rather than gender one in its management of religion and the ECVN’s theological, political and social stance as main causes of the gender problem

Struggles for Women-Inclusive Leadership in Toraja Church in Indonesia and the Evangelical Church of Vietnam
Traditionally, women in Vietnam have been seen as the sole nurturer and care-taker of the family. Similarly, recent reports show that both men and women in Vietnam expect women to behave in a socially constrained way.
Women’s struggle for leadership in religious organizations in Southeast Asia has been particularly characterized with various levels of accomplishment. This study takes the Toraja Church in Indonesia and the Evangelical Church of Vietnam as two cross-cultural case studies. As the main causes of change in the churches, the author discusses (1) the degree of destabilizing forces from external context and institutional structure; (2) the degree of support and identification with the struggle by male leaders; and (3) the dominant existence of women’s feminist projects and their success in turning their feminist projects into collective effort
Truth Telling in Peacebuilding: A Buddhist Contribution
Truth telling has been recognized as important in the process of trauma healing and reconciliation according to modern peacebuilding theories. Studies have shown that truth telling is not a simple issue but involves problems and challenges that need research and solutions. This study contributes to this problem-solution or the question “How should difficult and painful truth be told in a way that minimizes harm and maximizes benefit for all?†by offering an alternative knowledge and method rooted in the Buddhist tradition. Based on textual study of the Majjhima Nikaya and Anguttara Nikaya, the paper argues that the Buddha’s teachings can widen the understanding and minimize potential problems with the work of truth telling whether in the collective or interpersonal context by providing a concrete systematic framework and criteria for reflection, making decision and communication of truth
ChatGPT is Good but Bing Chat is Better for Vietnamese Students
This study examines the efficacy of two SOTA large language models (LLMs),
namely ChatGPT and Microsoft Bing Chat (BingChat), in catering to the needs of
Vietnamese students. Although ChatGPT exhibits proficiency in multiple
disciplines, Bing Chat emerges as the more advantageous option. We conduct a
comparative analysis of their academic achievements in various disciplines,
encompassing mathematics, literature, English language, physics, chemistry,
biology, history, geography, and civic education. The results of our study
suggest that BingChat demonstrates superior performance compared to ChatGPT
across a wide range of subjects, with the exception of literature, where
ChatGPT exhibits better performance. Additionally, BingChat utilizes the more
advanced GPT-4 technology in contrast to ChatGPT, which is built upon GPT-3.5.
This allows BingChat to improve to comprehension, reasoning and generation of
creative and informative text. Moreover, the fact that BingChat is accessible
in Vietnam and its integration of hyperlinks and citations within responses
serve to reinforce its superiority. In our analysis, it is evident that while
ChatGPT exhibits praiseworthy qualities, BingChat presents a more apdated
solutions for Vietnamese students.Comment: 13 pages; 6 figure
Investigating the Effectiveness of ChatGPT in Mathematical Reasoning and Problem Solving: Evidence from the Vietnamese National High School Graduation Examination
This study offers a complete analysis of ChatGPT's mathematics abilities in
responding to multiple-choice questions for the Vietnamese National High School
Graduation Examination (VNHSGE) on a range of subjects and difficulty levels.
The dataset included 250 questions divided into four levels: knowledge (K),
comprehension (C), application (A), and high application (H), and it included
ten themes that covered diverse mathematical concepts. The outcomes demonstrate
that ChatGPT's performance varies depending on the difficulty level and
subject. It performed best on questions at Level (K), with an accuracy rate of
; but, as the difficulty level rose, it scored poorly, with an accuracy
rate of . The study has also shown that ChatGPT significantly succeeds in
providing responses to questions on subjects including exponential and
logarithmic functions, geometric progression, and arithmetic progression. The
study found that ChatGPT had difficulty correctly answering questions on topics
including derivatives and applications, spatial geometry, and Oxyz spatial
calculus. Additionally, this study contrasted ChatGPT outcomes with Vietnamese
students in VNHSGE and in other math competitions. ChatGPT dominated in the SAT
Math competition with a success rate of , followed by VNHSGE mathematics
(. However, its success rates were lower on other exams, such as AP
Statistics, the GRE Quantitative, AMC 10, AMC 12, and AP Calculus BC. These
results suggest that ChatGPT has the potential to be an effective teaching tool
for mathematics, but more work is needed to enhance its handling of graphical
data and address the challenges presented by questions that are getting more
challenging.Comment: 17 pages, 14 image
POPULATION GENETIC DIVERSITY OF CAMELLIA DILINHENSIS ON THE DI LINH PLATEAU OF VIETNAM REVEALED BY ISSR AND SCOT MARKERS
Genetic diversity of naturally distributed Camellia dilinhensis populations on the Di Linh plateau of Vietnam was assessed by the inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) and start codon targeted (SCoT) techniques separately and then by combining data from both techniques for satisfactory results. The genetic diversity parameters and genetic distances among individuals found with the ISSR technique (HeI = 0.1420, II = 0.2092, PPBI = 35.22%, GSCsI = 0.765–0.988, and AGSCI = 0.915) are lower than those found with the SCoT technique (HeS = 0.2100, IS = 0.381, PPBS = 52.27%, GSCsS = 0.644–0.985, and AGSCS = 0.866). Based on the combined data from both techniques, the level of genetic diversity of the investigated population is PPB = 43.77%, He = 0.1720, I = 0.2582, and the genetic similarities among individuals are GSCs = 0.764–0.973 with an average of AGSC = 0.894. The SCoT technique differentiated between individuals better and reflected a higher level of genetic diversity in the population than the ISSR technique, but the ISSR technique revealed more loci in Camellia dilinhensis plants than did the SCoT technique

Revving Up Revenue: Unlocking the Power of Cancellation Policies on Booking Intentions
Over the years, last-minute cancellations and no-shows have presented difficulties for the hospitality sector, negatively affecting hotel operations and revenue. The cancellation policies of hotels have changed significantly as a result. These rules have been modified to act as "price fences" as a result of revenue management strategies used in the hotel industry. This study aims to find out how various cancellation policies impact consumers' perceptions of risk and intent to reserve hotel rooms at various times. The study provides insight into the factors that affect consumer behavior and choices for hospitality goods and services by examining these elements. The results of the study offer some understanding into how hotels and other hospitality businesses can use cancellation policies to customize their marketing strategies to meet consumer needs and preferences while successfully managing revenue and profitability
Sequence-dependent histone variant positioning signatures
Background: Nucleosome, the fundamental unit of chromatin, is formed by wrapping nearly 147bp of DNA around an octamer of histone proteins. This histone core has many variants that are different from each other by their biochemical compositions as well as biological functions. Although the deposition of histone variants onto chromatin has been implicated in many important biological processes, such as transcription and replication, themechanisms of how they are deposited on target sites are still obscure. Results: By analyzing genomic sequences of nucleosomes bearing different histone variants from human, including H2A.Z, H3.3 and both (H3.3/H2A.Z, so-called double variant histones), we found that genomic sequencecontributes in part to determining target sites for different histone variants. Moreover, dinucleotides CA/TG are remarkably important in distinguishing target sites of H2A.Z-only nucleosomes with those of H3.3-containing (both H3.3-only and double variant) nucleosomes. Conclusions: There exists a DNA-related mechanism regulating the deposition of different histone variants onto chromatin and biological outcomes thereof. This provides additional insights into epigenetic regulatory mechanisms of many important cellular processes
