The Basis of Constitutional Adjudication in Germany

    Get PDF
The Federal Constitutional Court of Germany leads the judiciary’s independence by protecting human rights within the Basic Law’s legal framework. In this case, the jurisdiction of the Court is essential to analyse comprehensively. The first and foremost function is interpretation. It is concerned with the extent of a supreme federal authority’s rights and duties and the citizens who can enjoy the fundamental rights under the Basic Law. The rest are abstract judicial review, constitutional complaint, and concrete judicial review. These all seem to depend on the Court’s interpretation and the supremacy of human dignity. Therefore, the issues lie when human dignity becomes a constitutional principle to resolve economic, social, and political disputes within the constitutional framework both in Germany and the European Union in practice. This research will used qualitative approach method. According to the literature reviews, human dignity is supreme, but it does not mean absolute

Application of natural commutation technique to an improved cycloconverter type high-frequency link inverter with center-tapped transformer

    Get PDF
This thesis presents a new isolated cycloconverter type high frequency (HF) link dc to ac power converter (inverter) that consists of three arms of bidirectional switches at transformer secondary. This topology has the advantage of light weight and reduced switch count, compared to other types of HF link inverter. However, like all HF link inverter topologies, this topology also suffer high voltage surge problem and power device switching loss. In order to overcome these problems, two sets of switching technique, namely the asymmetric bipolar PWM control and edgealigned unipolar PWM control, are introduced. These switching techniques utilize natural commutation technique that enables total soft switching operation and voltage surge reduction. Furthermore, the proposed switching techniques are able to reduce the transistor conduction loss due to the existence of freewheeling period. The research work verifies of the proposed topology and switching techniques by means of SPICE simulations. It also describes the natural commutation mechanism for HF link inverter in detail. An open loop laboratory prototype based on the Infineon C167 fixed-point microcontroller was constructed. The results obtained from the experimental rig were found to be in very close agreement with the theoretical prediction and simulation. The laboratory prototype was able to supply output voltage 340Vrms as well as 120Vrms, with THD less than 2.5%. The total power conversion efficiency reaches 86% when the output power was beyond 300

The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptual learning style preferences of students who are learning English as a foreign language at Nelson English Language School (NELC) in Myanmar during academic year 2018. This study was carried out to investigate the level of students’ academic achievement in learning English as a foreign language and to compare the preferred learning styles with their academic achievement. The research was conducted from 26 May to 28 May, 2018 at NELC in Myanmar. As a major source of data collection, the researcher used Reid’s Perceptual Learning Style Preference Questionnaire (PLSPQ). There were 155 students who responded to the questionnaire and respondents’ return rate was 100%. The data collected from the PLSPQ was analyzed by frequency and percentage, means and standard deviations and a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). According to this study, the students preferred mixed learning style the most followed by group learning style, kinesthetic learning style, auditory learning style, visual learning style, tactile learning style and individual learning style respectively. The result of this study showed that there was a very high level of academic achievement of students in NELC and there was no significant difference among students’ academic achievement according to their most preferred learning style. It is strongly recommended that NELC uses this study data to conduct teacher professional development plans and apply differentiated instruction in the classroom to meet the requirements of the students and to create a better learning environment where the students can access to many different learning styles

The insurance underwriting cycle: Does it vary by insurers?

    Get PDF
This paper examines the factors causing the underwriting cycle. An empirical analysis is done for 4 groups, for European and the three biggest insurance markets in Europe; United Kingdom, Germany and France. By comparing the underwriting cycle based on countries, it can be seen if local market characteristics affect the nature of the cycle. In addition, by using the empirical results I have tried to analyse if the Cummins and Outreville model or the Capacity Constraint theory holds

Strengthening Implementation of Policy Updates Sustainable Voter Data in Landak District

    Get PDF
This research departs from public problems that still occur and a comprehensive solution has not yet been   obtained in the implementation of general elections, namely concerning the quality of voter data. Accuracy of voter data still occurs even though the government has issued a policy on updating voter data continuously , in which the KPU as the organizer is expected to be able to update voter data on an ongoing basis. The purpose of this study was to find out, to analyze strategies to strengthen the implementation of sustainable voter data updating policies in Landak District. The method used to achieve the research objectives is descriptive qualitative by conducting field research and literature studies. The results of the study show that strengthening the policy of updating sustainable voter data in Landak District is faced with several problems. Problems can be viewed from organizational aspects, interpretation aspects, and application aspects. The strengthening of this policy is carried out by strengthening application aspects through collaboration with the village government to verify population data. Data on voter results in village head elections can be used as a comparison to verify new voters. In addition, socialization and education to the community by the KPU, Bawaslu, political parties, NGOs and village government regarding the rights and obligations of the community in general elections. PENGARUH GEL EKSTRAK DAUN AKASIA (Acacia auriculiformis) TERHADAP PROSES PENYEMBUHAN LUKA SAYAT PADA MENCIT (Mus musculus)

    Get PDF
Acacia plant (Acacia auriculiformis) contains chemical compounds they are saponin, tanin and flavonoid. These compounds potentially in healing cut. This research used acacia leaf extract (Acacia auriculiformis) making in form of gel for the process of wound healing cut on mouse (Mus musculus). The purpose of this research are to know the influences of extract gel acacia leaf (Acacia auriculiformis) and to know the optimum concentracion  extract gel acacia leaf that affective in wound healing cut on mouse (Mus musculus). Concentration variation of extract acacia leaf are 7%, 9% and 11%. The method used in research is experimental method with the complete random desing (CRD). Physical test supply gel that doing including pH test  and homogenitas. Effective test gel in healing cut doing on 15 mice which separated became three treatments and two controls. Each treatment and control contains three mice which get cut with size 1,5 cm. The first  treatment give 7% gel cocentration, the second treatment give 9% gel concentration, the first treatment give 11%, negative control give base gel and positive control give bioplacenton. Data analyze used Anova test one way and continue test LSD. Research result showed that extract gel acacia leaf with concentration variation 7%, 9% and 11% fulfill physic test gel supply that are pH test and homogenitas. Analysis result Anova one way showed that extract gel acacia leaf (Acacia auriculiformis) influence in the process of wound healing cuts on miouse (mus musculus). Based on the continue test LSD then known optimum concentration extract gel acacia leaf (Acacia auriculiformis) that effective of wound healing cuts on mouse (Mus musculus) that are 11%

Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is a useful fruit which mostly consumed as fresh fruit and can also be used as a various of processed products. Reports proved pomegranate were beneficial to health. Polyphenolic compounds in pomegranate especially ellagitannin (hydrolyzed), anthocyanins, gallotannin, and ellagic acid can maintain oral hygiene, healthy skin from the effects of free radicals caused by UV radiation, has the ability to synthesize cholesterol, destroying free radicals in the human vascular system and can prevent prostate cancer. In vitro and in vivo test has shown the fruit is acting as anti diabetic drug, and hypolipidemic, anticarcinogenic, antibacterial, anti inflamation, and antiviral. This review presenting an overview about the bioactive compound contents, physiological and health function of the fruit
