    The Effectiveness of Digital Marketing: A Case Study of One Bowl Soup MSMEs

    Digital marketing is a key factor in facing business competition in the current era. Effective digital marketing strategy implementation could lead MSMEs to maximize the market potential available in social media. Therefore, this research is conducted to investigate the effectiveness of digital marketing implemented for One Bowl Soup. As previous research doesn’t show an actual comparison regarding before and after the suggested strategy implemented, this research does not only overcome the referred limitation, but is not limited to only 2 social medias and comprised of major social medias which has highest active users in Indonesia simultaneously. A qualitative approach is utilized, and customers of One Bowl Soup are collected as samples for this research. It was found that social media usage by enterprises, including MSMEs, would improve the brand awareness of residents towards said enterprise. Moreover, for Instagram, which majority of interviewed sample uses Instagram in their daily life, including searching about local culinary options. After using social media, One Bowl Soup has improved visibility or brand awareness in Batam City, Indonesia, which can be seen from profile traffic insights provided by each social media

    Kemampuan seseorang untuk mengelola keuangan pribadinya adalah kunci utama untuk mencapai kepuasan finansial untuk individual. Tingkat keberhasilan pengelolaan keuangan secara pribadi juga dipengaruhi oleh faktor individual seperti literasi keuangan dan sikap terhadap risiko dalam keuangan. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan penelitian untuk menguji faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi kepuasan finansial seseorang. Penelitian ini memperoleh 118 responden sebagai sampel yang berasal dari Kota Batam dan telah berpenghasilan. Data penelitian bersifat primer karena dihasilkan dari kuesioner tertutup yang disajikan dalam google form. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan metode partial least square dengan bantuan program SmartPLS. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, ditemukan bahwa financial literacy memengaruhi financial risk attitude secara positif, namun tidak memengaruhi financial satisfaction. Selain itu, financial risk attitude ditemukan tidak memengaruhi financial satisfaction. Penelitian ini juga menguji pengaruh tidak langsung dan tidak menemukan adanya pengaru dari financial literacy terhadap financial satisfaction melalui intervensi financial risk attitude

    Weakly-semi-supervised object detection in remotely sensed imagery

    Deep learning for detecting objects in remotely sensed imagery can enable new technologies for important applications including mitigating climate change. However, these models often require large datasets labeled with bounding box annotations which are expensive to curate, prohibiting the development of models for new tasks and geographies. To address this challenge, we develop weakly-semi-supervised object detection (WSSOD) models on remotely sensed imagery which can leverage a small amount of bounding boxes together with a large amount of point labels that are easy to acquire at scale in geospatial data. We train WSSOD models which use large amounts of point-labeled images with varying fractions of bounding box labeled images in FAIR1M and a wind turbine detection dataset, and demonstrate that they substantially outperform fully supervised models trained with the same amount of bounding box labeled images on both datasets. Furthermore, we find that the WSSOD models trained with 2-10x fewer bounding box labeled images can perform similarly to or outperform fully supervised models trained on the full set of bounding-box labeled images. We believe that the approach can be extended to other remote sensing tasks to reduce reliance on bounding box labels and increase development of models for impactful applications.Comment: Tackling Climate Change with Machine Learning at NeurIPS 202

    Ten-year consistency in neurological test performance of children without focal neurological deficit

    To assess \u27soft-sign\u27 persistence and its correlates outside a referred sample, 159 members of a local birth cohort of the United National Collaborative Perinatal Project were traced and their performance on six neurological test scales was measured at age 17 by examiners blind to their status at age seven. A comparison group was also formed, who had been \u27sign-free\u27 at age seven. On four of the six tests (dysdiadochokinesis, mirror movements, dysgraphesthesia and motor slowness) index boys did significantly worse than the comparison boys; by contrast, index girls scored significantly worse than comparisons only on motor slowness

    Epithelial de-differentiation triggered by co-ordinate epigenetic inactivation of the EHF and CDX1 transcription factors drives colorectal cancer progression

Here, we identify co-ordinate epigenetic inactivation of two epithelial-specific transcription factors, EHF and CDX1, as a mechanism driving differentiation loss in CRCs. Re-expression of EHF and CDX1 in poorly-differentiated CRC cells induced extensive chromatin remodelling, transcriptional re-programming, and differentiation along the enterocytic lineage, leading to reduced growth and metastasis. Strikingly, EHF and CDX1 were also able to reprogramme non-colonic epithelial cells to express colonic differentiation markers. By contrast, inactivation of EHF and CDX1 in well-differentiated CRC cells triggered tumour de-differentiation. Mechanistically, we demonstrate that EHF physically interacts with CDX1 via its PNT domain, and that these transcription factors co-operatively drive transcription of the colonic differentiation marker, VIL1. Compound genetic deletion of Ehf and Cdx1 in the mouse colon disrupted normal colonic differentiation and significantly enhanced colorectal tumour progression.     Analysis of gene expression and chemoresistance of CD133(+ )cancer stem cells in glioblastoma

    BACKGROUND: Recently, a small population of cancer stem cells in adult and pediatric brain tumors has been identified. Some evidence has suggested that CD133 is a marker for a subset of leukemia and glioblastoma cancer stem cells. Especially, CD133 positive cells isolated from human glioblastoma may initiate tumors and represent novel targets for therapeutics. The gene expression and the drug resistance property of CD133 positive cancer stem cells, however, are still unknown. RESULTS: In this study, by FACS analysis we determined the percentage of CD133 positive cells in three primary cultured cell lines established from glioblastoma patients 10.2%, 69.7% and 27.5%, respectively. We also determined the average mRNA levels of markers associated with neural precursors. For example, CD90, CD44, CXCR4, Nestin, Msi1 and MELK mRNA on CD133 positive cells increased to 15.6, 5.7, 337.8, 21.4, 84 and 1351 times, respectively, compared to autologous CD133 negative cells derived from cell line No. 66. Additionally, CD133 positive cells express higher levels of BCRP1 and MGMT mRNA, as well as higher mRNA levels of genes that inhibit apoptosis. Furthermore, CD133 positive cells were significantly resistant to chemotherapeutic agents including temozolomide, carboplatin, paclitaxel (Taxol) and etoposide (VP16) compared to autologous CD133 negative cells. Finally, CD133 expression was significantly higher in recurrent GBM tissue obtained from five patients as compared to their respective newly diagnosed tumors. CONCLUSION: Our study for the first time provided evidence that CD133 positive cancer stem cells display strong capability on tumor's resistance to chemotherapy. This resistance is probably contributed by the CD133 positive cell with higher expression of on BCRP1 and MGMT, as well as the anti-apoptosis protein and inhibitors of apoptosis protein families. Future treatment should target this small population of CD133 positive cancer stem cells in tumors to improve the survival of brain tumor patients
