    Power boundedness in Fourier and Fourier-Stieltjes algebra of an ultraspherical hypergroup

    Let HH be an ultraspherical hypergroup associated with a locally compact group GG and a spherical projector π\pi and let A(H)A(H) and B(H)B(H) denote the Fourier and Fourier-Stieltjes algebras, respectively, associated with H.H. In this note, we study power boundedness and Ces\`aro boundedness in B(H)B(H). We also characterize the power bounded property for both A(H)A(H) and $B(H).

    Effects of cadmium on morphological structure of sperm in Caspiomyzon wagneri (Kessler, 1870) (Petromyzontiformes : Petromyzontidae)

    The present study aimed to investigate effects of the heavy metal Cd on the sperm morphological indices of Caspimyzon wagneri. The sperm were exposed to 0.01, 0.1, 1, 10, 100 and 1000 mg.L-1 Cd for three minutes, three and 36 hours. The sperms exposed to Cd showed an increase in the length, width and surface of the head, flagella degradation and slightly flagella breakage. With increase of Cd concentration or the exposure duration, the damages found in sperms increased. But when exposure to contaminant exceeds than certain period of time,damage effects caused changes in the sperm structure as head length reduction and head width increasing and thereby reducing the sperm’s head surface, complete cutting of flagella at all samples and deformation of the sperm’s head from oval to circular, which these changes became visible during 36 hours of exposure to cadmium.Therefore, the results revealed that the arrival of pollutants including cadmium to the natural reproduction ground of this species due to induction the harmful effects on sperm morphology factors will have adverse effects on sperm function and fertilization rate and reduce them, and as such will be considered a serious threat to the survival generation of this rare species

    Assessing benthic health of hard substratum macrobenthic community using soft bottom indicators and their relationship with environmental condition

    This study aimed to assess ecological quality status of hard substratum macroinvertebrates communities of the Caspian Sea with three ecological indices and their relationship with environmental factors. For this purpose, benthic communities of the Caspian Sea basin were studied seasonally during 2014 in 8 sampling sites. Temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen; pH, nitrate, nitrite, silicate and phosphate were measured as environmental factors. The benthic classification indices AMBI (AZTI Marine Biotic Index), M-AMBI (Multivariate AMBI) and BENTIX (BENthic IndeX) were applied to assess the ecological status of the studied area. Results showed low dissimilarity based on species composition and abundance among seasons, while all seasons discriminated clearly based on environmental factors. In addition, AMBI index was more successful to assess ecological health of hard substratum in the Caspian Sea basin than M-AMBI and BENTIX. Furthermore, AMBI showed high sensitivity to environmental variation. Results indicated that temperature, nitrate, silicate, phosphate and nitrite were the most important factors in the composition and abundance fluctuation of hard substratum macroinvertebrates communities, respectively

    Abstract Marvelous bending/straightening effects of two-way shape memory alloy (TWSMA) help their employment in design and manufacturing of new medical appliances. Constrained ageing with bending load scheme can induce two-way shape memory effect (TWSME). Scanning electron microscopic (SEM) analysis, electrical resistivity measurement (ERM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) are employed to determine the property change due to flat strip constrained aging. Results show that flat-annealing prior to the aging shifts NiTi transformations temperatures to higher values. Superelastic behavior of the as-received/flat-annealed/aged samples with more adequate transition temperatures due to biological tissue replacement is studied by three-point flexural tests. Results show that curing changes the transition points of the NiTi strips. These changes affect the shape memory behavior of the NiTi strips embedded within the biocompatible flexible composite segments

    A Mathematical Model to Investigate Heat Transfer in Footwear during Walking and Jogging

    Foot temperature during activities of daily living affects the human performance and well-being. Footwear thermal characteristics affect the foot temperature inside the shoe during activities of daily living. The temperate at the sole of the foot (plantar temperature) is influenced by different thermal properties such as heat capacity, heat diffusivity, and thermal conductivity of the shoe sole in addition to its mechanical properties. Hence the purpose of this study was to propose a method to allow investigating the effect of footwear thermal characteristics on the foot temperature during activities of daily living, like walking or jogging. The transient heat transfer between the foot and the ground was studied to drive the governing equation for heat transfer modelling in footwear and to predict foot sole temperature during walking, and jogging. Different thermo-mechanical properties of shoe sole, as well as geometrical parameters, were investigated. The proposed model showed to be able to adequately predict the plantar temperature at the ball of the foot when compared to the results from experimental measurements. Finally, using the proposed method, the thermal behaviour of two different shoes with two different sole materials EVA08 and EVA12 were compared. It was shown that heat capacity as compared to the thermal conductivity of the shoe sole is more effective in reducing the plantar temperature increase in short term. The proposed method proved to be able to accurately predict the thermal behaviour of shoes and can provide a tool to predict footwear thermal comfort

    Resistance of 14 accessions/cultivars of Lycopersicon spp. to two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Tetranychidae), in laboratory and greenhouse

    Fourteen accessions and cultivars of Lycopersicon spp. were studied to evaluate their resistance to two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch, under laboratory and greenhouse conditions. In vitro studies were carried out using thumbtack and leaf disk bioassays. Lycopersicon hirsutum and L. pennellii accessions supported more mites on the tack. The highest number of eggs (5.15 ± 0.48 eggs / â / d) was recorded on L. pimpinellifolium LA2533 and the lowest number (0 egg / â / d) was recorded on L. hirsutum and L. pennellii accessions. The highest mite mortality and lowest damage score occurred on the leaf disks of L. pennellii and L. hirsutum accessions that were strikingly in contrast to our observations on L. esculentum varieties (Nandi and Sankranthi). The developmental time of the mite was longest (8.61 ± 0.18 days) on leaf disks of L. esculentum NDTVR-73 and shortest (7.18 ± 0.51 days) on L. pimpinellifolium LA2533. In the greenhouse, the mite was unable to establish on L. hirsutum and L. pennellii accessions. Amongst the rest, Nandi and Sankranthi accessions/cultivars supported the highest, while NDTVR-73 supported the lowest mite population. The highest and lowest density of type VI glandular trichomes were recorded on L. esculentum NDTVR-73 (67.33 ± 6.34 trichomes/mm²) and L. pennellii LA2963 (0.79 ± 0.15 trichomes/mm²), respectively. No relation was found between density of type VI trichomes and resistance to the mite. Type IV glandular trichomes were observed only on the foliages of L. hirsutum and L. pennellii. A positive relation exists between the density of type IV glandular trichomes and resistance to the mite

    Radioimmunotherapy (RIT) in Brain Tumors

    Annually, the incidence of brain tumors has slightly increased and also the patient prognosis is still disappointing, especially for high-grade neoplasms. So, researchers seek methods to improve therapeutic index as a critical aim of treatment. One of these new challenging methods is radioimmunotherapy (RIT) that involves recruiting a coupling of radionuclide component with monoclonal antibody (mAb) which are targeted against cell surface tumor–related antigens or antigens of cells within the tumor microenvironment. In the context of cancer care, precision medicine is exemplified by RIT; precision medicine can offer a tailored treatment to meet the needs for treatment of brain tumors. This review aims to discuss the molecular targets used in radioimmunotherapy of brain tumors, available and future radioimmunopharmaceutics, clinical trials of radioimmunotherapy in brain neoplasms, and eventually, conclusion and future perspective of application of radioimmunotherapy in neurooncology cancer care. © 2019, Korean Society of Nuclear Medicine
