The article makes as survey of graduate students knowledge on use of various library and learning resources and their information skills. Students across disciplines of Horticulture, Seed science, Vegetable science of G B Pant University of Agriculture & Technology were assessed, questions were posed to know how they perceived themselves capable of knowing information sources, arrangement, interpretation and location of physical items in library, knowledge of bibliographical database, academic search engines, use of library website, subject gateways, and library networks etc. The survey also makes an effort to know students attitude as to how they informed themselves about latest development in their subject and how they would like to be informed about library news and learning resources. The survey was made before the commencement of one credit course on information literacy, and the limited knowledge of graduate students was expected in skill areas. The finding reveals that there are notable gaps and students’ knowledge is digitally divided. Suggests that teaching of credit bearing IL courses is imperative to enhance graduate students knowledge and information seeking skills

Community detection with spiking neural networks for neuromorphic hardware

We present results related to the performance of an algorithm for community detection which incorporates event-driven computation. We define a mapping which takes a graph G to a system of spiking neurons. Using a fully connected spiking neuron system, with both inhibitory and excitatory synaptic connections, the firing patterns of neurons within the same community can be distinguished from firing patterns of neurons in different communities. On a random graph with 128 vertices and known community structure we show that by using binary decoding and a Hamming-distance based metric, individual communities can be identified from spike train similarities. Using bipolar decoding and finite rate thresholding, we verify that inhibitory connections prevent the spread of spiking patterns.Comment: Conference paper presented at ORNL Neuromorphic Workshop 2017, 7 pages, 6 figure

Odontogenic Myxoma Of The Maxilla: A Clinical Case Report And Review Of Literature

    Get PDF
Odontogenic myxomas are rare benign mesenchymal  tumours of head and neck with a potential for  local infiltration and recurrence. They appear to originate from the dental papilla, follicle or periodontal ligament in mandible and less commonly the maxilla. These usually present in second or third decade of life as slowly progressive space occupying lesion in the jaw giving a  mixed radiopaque-radiolucent appearance. The treatment is considered to be wide local excision in view of high recurrence with curettage alone. Here, we present a case of odontogenic myxoma of maxilla, in a 40 year old lady, with a brief review of  literature, clinical, radiological, histopathological characteristics and therapeutic modality employed.

Places, non-places, and the abandoned individual: an augian interpretation of the Terminal and Babel

This study examines the French Philosopher, Marc Augé’s concept of ‘non-places’ and if it can be extended beyond the classification provided by Augé. Since the conception of the theory of the non-place, a lot has been said and written about what makes a space a non-place but there’s still very little emphasis and research on a place becoming a non-place and vice-versa. This study will indicate that places and non-places have the potential of colliding and merging into the other. In order to achieve the desiring result, the example of border has been explored as a space that can be transformed into a place when in theory it’s a non-place. Additionally in the latter part of the study, non-places and the individuals trapped in these spaces are treated as ‘homo sacers’, a concept provided by Giorgio Agamben, where the individuals are abandoned in a sort of no-man’s land, legally and otherwise, and have to fend for themselves. This study will also focus on the areas that Marc Augé didn’t take into consideration while conceptualizing non-places. However, despite all this, Marc Augé’s concept can still be a prominent tool in the analysis of supermodernity and capitalism.Departamento de Filología InglesaMáster en Estudios Ingleses Avanzados: Lenguas y Culturas en Contact
