Structural features of near equiatomic FeCo-2V semi-hard magnetic alloy prepared by MIM technology

    Get PDF
The structural properties of a magnetically semi-hard near equiatomic FeCo-2wt%V (FeCoV) alloy produced by Powder Injection Moulding (PIM) (option by fine metal powder - Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) technology) were investigated in this paper. Starting granulate was prepared by mixing FeCoV powder with a low-viscosity binder. After injection, the green samples were first treated with a solvent and then thermally with the same aim of removing the binder. MIM technology was completed by high-temperature sintering for 3.5 hours at temperatures from 1370 OC to 1460 OC in a hydrogen atmosphere, which provides the necessary magnetic and mechanical characteristics. The influence of sintering temperature was investigated concerning the aspects of the processes of structural transformation by the methods of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The appearance of an intense diffraction peak of the Ī±'-FeCo phase (crystal structure type B2) was registered for all investigated samples. Structural parameters particle size Dmax, Feret X, and Feret Y exhibit constant increase with increase of sintering temperature

Novel H1N1 influenza in neonates: from mild to fatal disease

Analysis of pediatric deaths associated with pandemic A H1N1 influenza shows that fatal outcome is more likely in young children, under the age of 5. Neonates, because of the immaturity of their immune system, could represent a high-risk group for severe disease and fatal outcome. We present a group of five neonates with confirmed novel influenza A H1N1 infection. This report indicates that the full spectrum of influenza A H1N1 infection ranging from mild febrile illness with spontaneous recovery to severe disease with fatal outcome may be expected even in neonates. Synthesis and characterization of conducting polyaniline nanotubes in the presence of colloidal TiO2 nanoparticles

    Get PDF
Conducting polyaniline nanotubes were synthesized by the oxidative polymerization of aniline with ammonium peroxydisulfate in water, in the presence of colloidal TiO2 nanoparticles of an average diameter ~5 nm. Polyaniline-TiO2 nanocomposite has been characterized by the electrical conductivity measurements, thermogravimetric analysis, FTIR spectroscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopies. The electrical conductivity of synthesized nanocomposite was 1.1 Ɨ 10ā€“3 S cmā€“1, slightly higher than that of pure polyaniline prepared under the same conditions. Polyaniline nanotubes have an outer diameter of 45ā€“230 nm nm, an inner diameter of 15ā€“130 nm, and a length extending from 0.5 to 2.0 Ī¼m.Physical chemistry 2008 : 9th international conference on fundamental and applied aspects of physical chemistry; Belgrade (Serbia); 24-28 September 200

The effects of detergent, sodium tripoly-phosphate and ethoxyled oleyl-cetyl alcohol on metabolic parameters of the fungus trichothecium roseum link

The degradation of detergents that are dispersed in water and soil partially depends on the metabolic activities of fungi. Among the fungi that have this ability, Deuteromycetes are particularly noted for their biochemical characteristics. Taking this into account, it was of interest to analyze the influence of detergent and its main compounds, ethoxyled oleylcetyl alcohol (AOC) and sodium tripoly-phosphate (TTP), on the metabolism of the fungus Trichothecium roseum. Our results revealed that both detergent and AOC had an inhibitory effect on the bioproduction of free organic acids, while TTP stimulated their production. Also, detergent inhibited the bioproduction of basic amino acids, with the exception of alanine. In addition, detergent applied at 1% concentration inhibited the bioproduction of proteins and the total biomass of the fungus, while AOC and TTP inhibited the production of proteins, but stimulatedl the production of Trichothecium

Outbreak of West Nile virus infection among humans in Serbia, August to October 2012

We describe the first reported outbreak of West Nile virus (WNV) infection in humans in Serbia in August to October 2012 and examine the association of various variables with encephalitis and fatal outcome. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used for detection of WNV-specific IgM and IgG antibodies in sera and cerebrospinal fluid. A total of 58 patients (mean age: 61 years; standard deviation: 15) were analysed: 44 were from Belgrade and its suburbs; 52 had neuroinvasive disease, of whom 8 had meningitis, while 44 had encephalitis. Acute flaccid paralysis developed in 13 of the patients with encephalitis. Age over 60 years and immunosuppression (including diabetes) were independently associated with the development of encephalitis in a multivariate analysis: odds ratio (OR): 44.8 (95% confidence interval (CI): 4.93-408.59); p=0.001 (age over 60 years); OR: 10.76 (95% CI: 1.06-109.65); p=0.045 (immunosuppression including diabetes). Respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation developed in 13 patients with encephalitis. A total of 35 patients had completely recovered by the time they were discharged; nine patients died. The presence of acute flaccid paralysis, consciousness impairment, respiratory failure and immunosuppression (without diabetes) were found to be associated with death in hospital in a univariate analysis (p lt 0.001, p=0.007, p lt 0.001 and p=0.010, respectively)

FeCoV alloys with high saturation magnetization and high Curie temperature, making them useful for high-temperature and power-dense applications (e. g. aviation device). In this study, we report the results of observing the structural properties of 49Fe49Co2V alloy produced by PIM / MIM technology. The starting granulate was prepared by mixing FeCoV powder with a low-viscosity binder. After injection, the raw ā€œgreenā€ samples were first treated with a solvent and then thermally with the same aim of removing the binder. MIM technology is completed by high-temperature sintering of ā€œbrownā€ samples for 3.5 hours at temperatures from 1370 OC to 1460 OC in a hydrogen atmosphere, which provides the necessary magnetic and mechanical characteristics. Depending on the sintering temperature, structural parameters of particle size Dmax, Feret X, Feret Y were investigated and analysed

Polyaniline/TiO2 (PANI/TiO2) nanocomposite was synthesized by the oxidative polymerization of aniline with ammonium peroxydisulfate (APS) in water, in the presence of colloidal TiO2 nanoparticles of an average diameter ~5 nm. The resulting PANI/TiO2 composite powder was used for photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB).
