Background : Nutritional anemia is one of the four nutritional problems in Indonesia. Nutritional anemia often suffered by people, both children, adolescent of productive age, pregnant women or old people. Nutritional anemia in pregnancy is not only found in developing countries but also in developed countries. The reasons vary, from bleeding, iron deficiency, folic acid, vitamin B12, to hemolytic disorders. This study aims to determine nutritional anemia picture of events in pregnant women in the working area of Perumnas Health Center in District of Lahat 2009. Method : Descriptive survey using a cross-sectional research design. Population in this study was all pregnant women in the working area of Perumnas Health Center in District of Lahat, amounting to 80 people. The sample in this study is the entire population numbering 80 people. Primary data colletion is done by using the tools of angket, while secondary data obtained through the relevant documents. Result : The possible risk factors for the occurrence of anemia is a pregnant women age > 35 years, low education, work, level of risk parity (≥ 4 times), the distance risk pregnancies (< 2 years), age III trimester of pregnancy, family income < UMP and never consume Fe tablets. All of these factors associated with lack of nutritional knowledge. Conclusion : Lack of nutritional knowledge are intimately associated with the incidence of anemia. This research suggested the need to do intensive counseling to pregnant women and health workers are expected to be able to provide information about nutrition in pregnant women

p53 Activation following Rift Valley Fever Virus Infection Contributes to Cell Death and Viral Production

Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) is an emerging viral zoonosis that is responsible for devastating outbreaks among livestock and is capable of causing potentially fatal disease in humans. Studies have shown that upon infection, certain viruses have the capability of utilizing particular cellular signaling pathways to propagate viral infection. Activation of p53 is important for the DNA damage signaling cascade, initiation of apoptosis, cell cycle arrest and transcriptional regulation of multiple genes. The current study focuses on the role of p53 signaling in RVFV infection and viral replication. These results show an up-regulation of p53 phosphorylation at several serine sites after RVFV MP-12 infection that is highly dependent on the viral protein NSs. qRT-PCR data showed a transcriptional up-regulation of several p53 targeted genes involved in cell cycle and apoptosis regulation following RVFV infection. Cell viability assays demonstrate that loss of p53 results in less RVFV induced cell death. Furthermore, decreased viral titers in p53 null cells indicate that RVFV utilizes p53 to enhance viral production. Collectively, these experiments indicate that the p53 signaling pathway is utilized during RVFV infection to induce cell death and increase viral production

Background : Frying oils is one of the nine basic needs in Indonesia. The lack knowledge of household wife in using frying oils can cause damage. In addition, frying oils is used multiple times (more than 4 times) will be oxidized (air reactions). It can caused irritations of digestion, diarrhea and cancer. Method : The method of this research is survey-descriptive with cross-sectional design. The aim of this research is to determine of using palm frying oil in correct and right way for household wives and family health in sub district of Indralaya Indah. This research uses Questionnaire for collecting primary data's. Result : The results of this research indicated that the most knowledge of household wives is adequate knowledge (60,0%), good attitude (95,3%) and good behavior (62,4%) with characteristics > 40 years old, graduated from senior high school, unworking, buy palm frying oil in supermarkets and shops and get informations about palm frying oil packages from reference groups and electronics mass media. Conclusion : The conclusion of this research is using palm frying oil in correct and right way didn't do by all of household wives. Suggestions of this research are not only doing intensive illuminations for reference groups but also producers are expected to provide informations (recommendations how to use palm frying oil) more complete and detailed in label product
