    CLINICAL TRIAL OF GOMUTRA (COWS URINE) IN OBESITY MANAGEMENT

    The current research paper describes the importance of Gomutra (cows urine) in obesity management. For this purpose 30 patients were selected randomly from M.M.M Government Ayurvedic College & Associated Group of hospitals, Udaipur. For diagnostic purpose objective parameters like total body weight of patient, BMI, Measurement of skin-fold thickness, Circumference of Chest, Abdomen, Hip, Mid thigh, biochemical analysis like lipid profile and subjective parameters like Chalatva, Kshudra Swasa Daurbalya,  Anga Gaurva,  Alasya, Gatrasada, Alpa Vyavaya, Ati Kshudha, Ati Piapasa Nidradhikya, Swedadhikya, Daurgandhya, Snigdhangta, Sandhishool were taken in to consideration. In pathogenesis of Sthaulya,  Kapha (Kledaka Kapha), Vata (Samana & Vyana Vayu),  Meda (fat /lipid) and Medodhatvagni Mandyata are main responsible factors according to our samhitas1 My hypothesis for this evaluation was based on the facts that Gomutra has all those properties which can be helpful in Samprapti vighatana of obesity i.e.m Tikshna, Ushna, Laghu and Kaphavat shamak etc. I also considered the biochemical analysis on Gomutra and its elemental properties. Keeping this in mind Gomutra was given to every patient according to their age and Kosthagni ranging from 3ml to 5ml with water and all changes were calculated by parameteric and non parameteric tests. In this study cows urine proved very effective in obesity management reduced weight and B.M.I by 6.51% and 6.11% respectively. This research is very important in todays life because the problem of obesity is increasing day by day due to our sedentary life style and it is leading to very fatal diseases

    Optimize Power Allocation Scheme to Maximize Sum Rate in CoMP with Limited Channel State Information

    Extensive use of mobile applications throws many challenges in cellular systems like cell edge throughput, inter cell interference and spectral e�ciency. Many of these challenges have been resolved using Coordinated Multi-Point (CoMP), developed in the Third Generation Partnership Project for LTE-Advanced) to a great extent. CoMP cooperatively process signals from base sta- tions that are connected to various multiple terminals (user equipment (UEs)) at transmission and reception. This CoMP improves throughput, reduces or even removes inter-cell interference and increases spectral e�ciency in the downlink of multi-antenna coordinated multipoint systems. Many researchers addressed these issues assuming that BSs have the knowledge of the common control channels dedicated to all UEs and also about the full or partial channel state information (CSI) of all the links. From the CSI available at the BSs, multiuser interference can be managed at the BSs. To make this feasible, UEs are responsible for collecting downlink CSI. But, CSI measurement (instantaneous and/or statistical) is imperfect in nature because of the randomly varying nature of the channels at random times. These incorrect CSI values available at the BSs may, in turn, create multi-user interference. There are many techniques to suppress the multi-user interference, among which the feedback scheme is the one which is gaining a lot of attention. In feedback schemes, CSI information needs to be fed back to the base station from UEs in the uplink. It is obvious, the question arises on the type and amount of feedback need to be used. Research has been progressing in this front and some feedback techniques have been proposed. Three basic CoMP Feedback schemes are available. Explicit or statistical channel information feedback scheme in which channel information like channels's covariance matrix of the channel are shared between the transmitter and receiver. Next, implicit or statistical channel information feedback which contains information such as Channel quality indication or Precoding matrix indicator or Rank indicator. 1st applied to TDD LTE type structure and 2nd of feedback scheme can be applied in the FDD system. Finally, we have UE which tranmit the sounding reference signal (CSI). This type of feedback scheme is applied to exploit channel reciprocity and to reduce channel intercell interference and this can be applied in the TDD system. We have analyzed the scenario of LTE TDD based system. After this, optimization of power is also required because users at the cell edge required more attention than the user locating at the center of the cell. In my work, it shows estimated power gives exponential divercity for high SNR as low SNR too. In this method, a compression feedback method is analyzed to provide multi-cell spatial channel information. It improves the feedback e�ciency and throughput. The rows and columns of the channel matrix are compressed using Eigenmode of the user and codebook based scheme speci�ed in LTE speci�cation. The main drawback of this scheme is that spectral e�ciency is achieved with the cost of increased overheads for feedback and evolved NodeB (eNB). Other factor is complexity of eNodeB which is to be addressed in future work

    A cross-sectional survey of orthopaedicians to understand the prescribing pattern of disease modifying osteoarthritis drugs in osteoarthritis

    Background: Numerous dietary supplements with disease-modifying action are available in Indian market. However, doctor’s preferences for these disease modifying osteoarthritis drugs (DMOADs) to prevent progression of OA are not known. The objective of this study was to quantify doctor preferences for potential DMOADs.Methods: The survey instrument (online survey questionnaire at survey monkey) was developed by researchers upon review of existing literature and detailed discussion with practicing clinicians. Face and content validity and reliability (test-retest method) was assessed through a focused panel of clinicians to determine if content was adequate to obtain the necessary data. This was a cross-sectional digital survey of 207 orthopaedicians during Indian Orthopaedic Association Conference-2018 organized at Coimbatore.Results: NSAIDs + DMOAD combinations were the most preferred treatment option for newly diagnosed OA patients. 44% orthopaedicians prefer to start the treatment with combination of NSAID and DMOAD as compared to 10% with paracetamol monotherapy. Glucosamine/chondroitin combinations are the most commonly preferred DMOAD by the orthopaedicians; followed by undenatured type II collagen. 66% of the doctors surveyed opined that the efficacy of undenatured type-II collagen is better as compared to other DMOADs.Conclusions:The findings from the survey suggest that majority of orthopaedicians prefer to prescribe NSAID with DMOAD combinations for newly diagnosed osteoarthritis patients.

    RATIONALITY BEHIND AYURVEDA COMPOUND FORMULATIONS- A BIRDS EYE VIEW

    Ayurveda is Indian heritage system of medicine gifted by ancient Acharya. It provides scientific approach for dealing human health issues with tools of nature like herbs, minerals, metals etc. It states that every substance in the universe can be applied as medicine with the help of Yukti or logical approach of physicians. In present era, whole world is looking towards Ayurveda for its novel natural healing modalities to get relief from their ailments whether physical or mental. Hence here is the need for development of more numbers of Ayurveda formulations to overcome the different health hazard. Moreover invention of more formulations for newly developed diseases like cancer, AIDs, dengue etc. is also needed. But these herbal preparations also face problems like adulteration, non-availability in a particular area or extinction of herbs due to excessive use of a particular herb. On this background present study was undertaken to analyse the fundamental rationality behind Ayurveda formulations mentioned in various ancient transcripts. Literary data regarding evolving a formulation was scrutinized with examples of important formulations mentioned in various texts. This study results out that for developing a particular formulation, factors like availability, palatability, potency, safety, efficacy etc. should be considered.

    Validation of molecular markers linked to low glucosinolate QTLs for marker assisted selection in Indian mustard (Brassica juncea L. Czern & Coss)

    Not AvailableSix earlier reported markers closely linked to low glucosinolate QTLs of Brassica juncea, spread across ‘A’ genome (A2, A3 and A9) were validated in a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population of a cross between Pusa Mustard-21 (low erucic acid) and EC-597325 (double low) genotypes, to utilize them in marker-assisted selection (MAS). Of them, four markers viz., GER 1 amplified alleles of 650 bp and of 950 bp, GER 5 amplified 310 bp and 350 bp, At5gAJ67 amplified 500 bp and 450 bp and Myb28 amplified alleles of size 900 bp and 920 bp in EC597325 and Pusa Mustard-21, respectively and therefore differentiated low and high glucosinolate parents. These four polymorphic markers were then used to genotype the phenotyped RIL population consisting 608 plants. Marker-trait association was tested for goodness of fit using c2 test. Of the four markers, GER1 and GER5 showed higher phenotypic variance (R2 value) compared to the others, indicating their significance in determination of glucosinolates and prospects for use in MAS for development of Indian mustard genotypes with low glucosinolates content.Not Availabl

    Evaluation of urea loaded nanoclay biopolymer composites with Zn and P solubilizing microbes for nitrogen uptake and use efficiency in maize (Zea mays)-wheat (Triticum aestivum) cropping system

    A field experiment was conducted during rainy (kharif) 2022 (July 2022–October 2022) and winter (rabi) 2022–23 (November 2022–March 2023) seasons at ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi to evaluate a series of Zn and P solubilizing microbial culture enriched nanoclay biopolymer composite (NCBPC) loaded with nitrogenous fertilizer (urea) and the efficiency of the products for maize (Zea mays L.) and wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). Experiment consisted of 10 treatments, viz. T1, Control; T2, 100% N though urea; T3; T5; T7; and T9, 75% N as urea loaded NCBPC-A (prepared using acrylic acid + acrylamide + mango kernel flour) alone or along with P or Zn or P + Zn solubilizers; T4; T6; T8 and T10, 75% N as urea loaded NCBPC-B (prepared using acrylic acid + acrylamide + maize flour) alone or along with P or Zn or P + Zn solubilizers in a randomized block design (RBD) and replicated thrice. In both maize and wheat crop, highest grain (5.09 and 5.32 t/ha) and straw yield (6.56 and 7.45 t/ha), apparent N recovery (51.26 and 47.26%) and agronomic efficiency (12 and 13.3 kg grain yield obtained/kg N application) were obtained in treatment T10 followed by T9. In addition, total N uptake significantly enhanced by 20.1–28.4% in maize and 22.1–30.8% in wheat (T9 and T10); apparent nitrogen recovery (ANR) improved by 12.9–18.2 and 15.2–21.1% and agronomic efficiency (AE) triggered by 19.5–21.2 and 15.4–20.8% in maize and wheat crops respectively, under T9 and T10 treatments over standard urea fertilization (T2). Thus, the study concludes that, 25% N requirement could be cut down through application of 75% N (urea) loaded NCBPCs in conjunction with Zn or P or Zn + P solubilizing microbial culture as compared to sole urea application under maize-wheat cropping system

    Robust estimation of bacterial cell count from optical density

    Optical density (OD) is widely used to estimate the density of cells in liquid culture, but cannot be compared between instruments without a standardized calibration protocol and is challenging to relate to actual cell count. We address this with an interlaboratory study comparing three simple, low-cost, and highly accessible OD calibration protocols across 244 laboratories, applied to eight strains of constitutive GFP-expressing E. coli. Based on our results, we recommend calibrating OD to estimated cell count using serial dilution of silica microspheres, which produces highly precise calibration (95.5% of residuals <1.2-fold), is easily assessed for quality control, also assesses instrument effective linear range, and can be combined with fluorescence calibration to obtain units of Molecules of Equivalent Fluorescein (MEFL) per cell, allowing direct comparison and data fusion with flow cytometry measurements: in our study, fluorescence per cell measurements showed only a 1.07-fold mean difference between plate reader and flow cytometry data

    Retrospective evaluation of whole exome and genome mutation calls in 746 cancer samples

    Funder: NCI U24CA211006Abstract: The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) curated consensus somatic mutation calls using whole exome sequencing (WES) and whole genome sequencing (WGS), respectively. Here, as part of the ICGC/TCGA Pan-Cancer Analysis of Whole Genomes (PCAWG) Consortium, which aggregated whole genome sequencing data from 2,658 cancers across 38 tumour types, we compare WES and WGS side-by-side from 746 TCGA samples, finding that ~80% of mutations overlap in covered exonic regions. We estimate that low variant allele fraction (VAF < 15%) and clonal heterogeneity contribute up to 68% of private WGS mutations and 71% of private WES mutations. We observe that ~30% of private WGS mutations trace to mutations identified by a single variant caller in WES consensus efforts. WGS captures both ~50% more variation in exonic regions and un-observed mutations in loci with variable GC-content. Together, our analysis highlights technological divergences between two reproducible somatic variant detection efforts
