Graphite fiber reinforced thermoplastic resins
The results of a program designed to optimize the fabrication procedures for graphite thermoplastic composites are described. The properties of the composites as a function of temperature were measured and graphite thermoplastic fan exit guide vanes were fabricated and tested. Three thermoplastics were included in the investigation: polysulfone, polyethersulfone, and polyarylsulfone. Type HMS graphite was used as the reinforcement. Bending fatigue tests of HMS graphite/polyethersulfone demonstrated a gradual shear failure mode which resulted in a loss of stiffness in the specimens. Preliminary curves were generated to show the loss in stiffness as a function of stress and number of cycles. Fan exit guide vanes of HMS graphite polyethersulfone were satisfactorily fabricated in the final phase of the program. These were found to have stiffness and better fatigue behavior than graphite epoxy vanes which were formerly bill of material
Using Nominalization in Scientific Texts; A Practical Review of the Related Studies
Many scholars have focused on using the nominalization over the scientific discourse. On the other hand many scholars have focused on the historic origins of nominalization in scientific discourse (Banks, 2005); realizing the grammatical metaphor in modern prose fiction (Farahani & Hadidi, 2008). Furthermore, Susinskiene (2009) examined the influence of verb-based nominalization to cohesion over the history texts. Baratta (2010) examined moreover using the nominalization in the writing performance of six undergraduate students. Finally, Wenyan (2012), examined the role of nominalization in the English Medical Papers (EMP) created by native English speakers and Chinese writers. These investigations have focused the vital role of using the nominalization in the skillful arrangement of academic discourse. Nevertheless, the realization between discipline specificity and nominalization is not focused a lot. In the current paper, the researcher tried to review the nominalization use and related studies which have been conducted in this regard. Hopefully, results of the current investigation is useful for a number of people who can benefit the results namely students of applied linguistics who want to understand the related studies about nominalization, researchers who want to conduct their studies of nominalization and interested people to applied linguistics
CONTROL OVER COOLING OF SLAB ON BASIS OF EFFECT OF REPEAT HEATING OF ITS SURFACE
There the purpose is to develop the theory of repeat heating of slab surface in the zone of repeat cooling, the methods and the manners to control the cooling of slab. The interconnection of thermal characteristics of pouring and the temperature state of equipment has been ascertained. The new manner of continuous determination of thickness of metal shell has been developed on the basis of use of effect of repeat heating of slab. The new manner of continuous measurement of temperature of slab surface and of prediction of quality of metal surface on this basis has been developed. The calibration method of system of repeat cooling of metal has been developed. The feasibility study for the overhaul of system of automatic regime has been presented. The means of continuous control of metal temperature have been developed. The means of continuous control of thermal conditions of slab have been introduced. Computational experiment on determination of load on the rollers of continuous casting machine
The article is devoted to calculations of load on rollers of a curvilinear continuous casting machine during bending of the ingot in the levelling section. The calculation takes into account the elastic and plastic characteristics of metal and the flexibility of the roller apparatus. Determination of load on rollers together with meeting other requirements such as reducing the cooling water consumption, minimizing the energy consumption enables optimizing the technology of slab cooling in the secondary cooling zone (SCZ) and obtaining metal of the required quality.</jats:p
