The emergence of advanced technologies has brought new challenges and opportunities for all kinds of business organizations. In a technologically advanced era, innovation plays a dominant role for the successful operation of the commercial landscape. Therefore, the current study was conducted to investigate the impact of network capabilities (NC) and frugal innovation (FI) on innovation performance (IP). Furthermore, the mediating role of FI and moderating role of innovation strategies has also been tested on the link between NC and IP. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) registered with small and medium enterprises development authorities (SMEDA) were approached for the completion of the current study. Only 509 owner/managers agreed to participate. A quantitative research design was employed for the current study. During the two–three months process of data collection only 387 complete responses were received from the SMEs working in Pakistan’s big cities. Correlation, regression and bootstrap methods were applied to test the study hypotheses. The findings revealed that NC positively affect FI and IP. Furthermore, the findings also confirmed the mediating effect of FI between NC and IP link. The performance of SMEs working in emerging economies is largely based on their innovative activities. In this dynamic scenario SMEs’ survival is attached to continuous IP in their products and services

Nowadays, sustainable performance (SP) has become an obligation of every organization globally, which captures the attention of recent researchers and policymakers. Following the green theory, this study aims to examine the impact of corporate social responsibilities (CSR), transactional and transformational leadership on the SP. Besides, examining the moderating role of sustainable entrepreneurship and mediating role of organizational commitment among the nexus of CSR, transactional and transformational leadership, and SP is another target of this research. This study adopted the questionnaires to collect the data from the respondents of the internet services industry in China, and structural equation modeling (SEM)was employed to analyze the data. This research revealed that CSR, transactional, and transformational leadership have a positive effect on SP. Secondly, this study also indicated that sustainable entrepreneurship significantly moderates among nexus of transactional and transformational leadership to SP. Besides, our results show that organizational commitment positively mediates the links between CSR, transactional leadership, transformational leadership, and the SP. The conclusion of this research signifies that organizational leadership strongly influences the adoption of green and sustainable operations, which further influences the SP. These results help the regulation-making authorities make new policies related to CSR, leadership, entrepreneurship, and SP

© 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd. This is an open access article under the CC BY license.Aviation cargo remains vital in the economic activities to transported goods from one place to another. The developed and developing countries mainly consider the transaction routes for air transportation for safe and quickest mode. Chinese economy is attracting the global World through its exports. The country's air cargo system is mainly reliant on gasoline and petroleum-based fuels, which harms the country's green transportation agenda. The high use of fuel combustions in the aviation sector needed greenfield investment that helps to use green energy as an alternative sustainable fuel. Further, sustainable aviation insurance and financial coverage are needed to mitigate the adverse negative externalities from air cargo operations. Based on the crucial facts, the study used air cargo operations, transportation fuel combustions, private investment in the transportation and insurance coverage in the pollution damage function for the China economy using data from 1975 to 2020. The research employed a non-linear ARDL Bounds testing strategy to break down the sequence of variables into dynamic positive and negative multipliers. Positive shocks in air freight, insurance services, and greenfield investment have been shown to reduce carbon emissions immediately and over the long term. In the short term, carbon damages are exacerbated by the negative shocks resulting from the use of transportation fuel and the availability of insurance. Moreover, both the positive and negative shocks associated with transportation fuel combustions and air transportation freights contribute to a rise in carbon damage. The variance decomposition analysis validated the asymmetric correlations between the aforementioned variables in the intertemporal environment. Based on the findings, negative shocks from total fuel combustions are expected to impose the greatest carbon damages over the next decade, followed by insurance services and air freight operations. The study concludes that air cargo operations need to be sustainable transacting routes fueled by biofuel energy sources, greenfield investment, and sustainable aviation insurance coverage to achieve the ‘green is clean’ transportation agenda.publishedVersio

Role of natural coagulants in the removal of heavy metals from different wastewaters: principal mechanisms, applications, challenges, and prospects

    Get PDF
Industrial wastewater has become a great concern due to high concentrations of several hazardous contaminants, particularly heavy metals. Heavy metal contamination and its consequences for human health and the environment have gained interest in developing low-cost, long-term cleanup technologies. Biologically based wastewater treatment approaches being more effective than conventional treatment methods are getting more attention recently. Applying natural coagulants in wastewater treatments has progressively improved the coagulation-flocculation process efficiency. The main mechanism for heavy metals removal by coagulation is adsorption; therefore, natural coagulants perform better than chemical coagulants in heavy metals removal as natural coagulants contain biopolymers with active sites for heavy metals adsorption. This systematic review focuses on applying nature coagulants for heavy metals removal from different environmental systems. A systematic and comprehensive search for related articles on Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus on the use of natural coagulant for heavy metal removal from wastewater was conducted up to May 2022. After examining, extracting and deleting duplicate records, 81 relevant articles containing data on types of natural coagulants, extraction methods of active compounds, mechanisms of metal removal by coagulation process, and the performance of natural coagulants for the removal of heavy metals have been reviewed. Their major findings with technical gaps and possible solutions are summarized. The review is novel as it summarizes the main findings of a series of previously published articles on the role of natural coagulants, particularly the removal of heavy metals. The review also identified gaps and research questions and suggested possible solutions for the successful practical application of natural coagulants in wastewater treatment. © 2022 Global NEST Printed in Greece.
