    Methyl esters selectivity of transesterification reaction with homogenous alkaline catalyst to produce biodiesel in batch, plug flow, and continuous stirred tank reactors

    Selectivity concept is essential in establishing the best operating conditions for attaining maximum production of the desired product. For complex reaction such as biodiesel fuel synthesis, kinetic studies of transesterification reaction have revealed the mechanism of the reaction and rate constants. The objectives of this research are to develop the kinetic parameters for determination of methyl esters and glycerol selectivity, evaluate the significance of the reverse reaction in transesterification reaction, and examine the influence of reaction characteristics (reaction temperature, methanol to oil molar ratio, and the amount of catalyst) on selectivity. For this study, published reaction rate constants of transesterification reaction were used to develop mathematical expressions for selectivities. In order to examine the base case and reversible transesterification, two calculation schemes (Case 1 and Case 2) were established. An enhanced selectivity was found in the base case of transesterification reaction. The selectivity was greatly improved at optimum reaction temperature (60 C), molar ratio (9 : 1), catalyst concentration (1.5 wt.%), and low free fatty acid feedstock. Further research might explore the application of selectivity for specifying reactor configurations

    Exposure to NO2 in occupational built environments in urban centre in Lahore

    Increased economic growth, urbanisation and substantial rise in automobile vehicles has contributed towards the elevated levels of air pollution in major cities in Pakistan. Aone week study was conducted by using passive samplers to assess NO2 concentration in occupational built environments at two most congested and populated sites of Lahore. Both sites were locatedon the busy roads of Lahore. At Site-I the highest concentration was in outdoors followed by corridor and indoor. While at Site II all the sampling location wereindoors and level were comparable to that of outdoor levelsat Site I. The results suggest the likely contribution of ambient sources in exposure to indoor NO2 in educational and other occupational built environments in urban centres

    This study is aims at determine learning outcome physic students psychomotor skills application Discovery Learning model at class X Seri Rama YLPI senior high school at Pekanbaru using model Discovery Learning at geometrical optics materials. The research was conducted from March 2015 through June 2015 by 38 research subjects at X1 as experimental group and 27 students at Xz as control group in Seri Rama YLPI senior high school at Pekanbaru. This research is a form of pre-experimental design Intact Group comparasion. The research instrument is physic psychomotor skill achievment test arrange of application aspect adaption. Psychomotor skills learning outcomes studied cover aspects of reading tools, measuring angles with a bow, and planned experiments obtained absorption with good category for its effectiveness in class experiments and categorized effective, whereas for the control class obtained absorption with good enough category and for its effectiveness categorized enough effective. The result of the research indicated of 79,9% absorption of learning at good category in experimental group while 63,2% at good enough category in other group. Thereby concluded that the application Discovery Learning model can improve students physic psychomotor skill in class X Seri Rama YLPI senior hihg school at Pekanbaru

    : This study aims to determine implementation, role ofthe principal,and factors thataffect the implementationof quality improved of school based managementin school empowerment. To achieve these objectives, this study uses a qualitative approach. Data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The procedure of data analysis is data reduction, data display, and verification. While the subject of research is the principal, vice principal, and teacher.     Perbaikan Fasilitas Rumah Kos Dengan Menggunakan Integrasi Metode Service Quality Dan Quality Function Deployment

    Kota Malang menjadi salah satu kota yang memiliki perguruan tinggi dengan daya tampung yang cukup tinggi. Hal tersebut menjadi faktor banyaknya pendatang yang menjadi mahasiswa baru di universitas tersebut. Oleh karena itu, mereka membutuhkan tempat tinggal selama mereka menempuh studi di perguruan tinggi. Dalam penelitian ini, objek yang digunakan sebagai penelitian adalah rumah kos di Jalan Kertowaluyo, Kelurahan Ketawanggede, Lowokwaru, Kota Malang.Dari hasil survei awal yang dilakukan, didapatkan kekurangan dari segi kualitas dan kuantitas fasilitas yang disediakan. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan integrasi Service Quality dan Quality Function Deployment. Dari hasil Service Quality dapat diketahui 16 atribut yang menjadi voice of customeryang kemudian dilakukan analisis gap yaitu kelengkapan fasilitas kamar kos, tempat parkir yang lus, kebersihan kamar mandi, jumlah kamar mandi yang cukup,kasur, bantal, dan guling yang nyaman, kebersihan lingkungan rumah kos, kesesuaian biaya kos dengan fasilitas yang didapatkan, penjaga kos membersihkan lingkungan rumah kos setiap pagi, tindakan tanggap penjaga kos saat air kamar mandi habis, penjaga kos yang cekatan dalam melayani kebutuhan penghuni kos, keamanan lingkungan rumah kos, pagar digembok saat jam malam, tempat parkir yang aman, lemari dan meja yang kokoh, keramahan penjaga kos, penjaga kos yang bersedia memberi perawatan pada penghuni kos yang sakit. Berdasarkan hasil analisis Quality Function Deployment, prioritas utama rekomendasi perbaikan yang dapat dilakukan yaitu menyediakan fasilitas rumah kos dengan jumlah dan kualitas yang sama
