    Get PDF
Placental chorangiomas, not an uncommon condition is often small and hence usually goes unnoticed . However the incidence of complications is high when the chorangioma is large. We hereby present an unusual case of large and multiple choriangiomas with secondary changes and associated congenital anomalies with hydrops fetalis

Recreational, Cultural and Aesthetic Services from Estuarine and Coastal Ecosystems

    Get PDF
The role of economic analysis in guiding the sustainable development of estuarine and coastal ecosystems is investigated based on a comprehensive review of the literature on the valuation of the recreation, cultural and aesthetic services. The implications of the findings for the sustainable management of coral reefs, Marine Protected Areas, and Small Island Developing States are discussed. Finally, the potential of meta-analytical benefit transfer and scaling up of values at various aggregation levels is demonstrated in the context of coastal tourism and recreation in Europe. The results of the study support the conclusion that the non-material values provided by coastal and estuarine ecosystems in terms of recreational, cultural and aesthetic services represent a substantial component of human well-being.Aesthetic Values, Coastal Recreation, Coral Reefs, Cultural Values, Ecosystem Services Valuation, Ecosystem Services, Estuarine Ecosystems, Marine Protected Areas, Non-market Valuation, Non-use Values, Passive Values, Recreational Fishing, Small Island Developing States, Spiritual and Religious Values.

Simulation Analysis of MPPT Algorithm for a PV System Using a ZSI and Contrast with DC-DC Boosted VSI

Energy demand is increasing from past few decades and Renewable energy resources are used for supplying that increasing power demand. So in order to increase the efficiency and power output of PV system MPPT Technique plays a major role. As PV arrays undergoes nonlinear and voltage-current characteristics thus MPPT Algorithm is necessary. Therefore it is necessary to operate the solar panel at its maximum power point tracking to ensure increase in the extraction of power from solar panel. Hence MPPT algorithm is necessary in PV array to maximize its output power. In this Paper a new Converter model named as Impedance(Z) Source Inverter with advanced MPC technique is used for MPPT for Grid connected PV harvesting system. A Single Stage Conversion has been carried out in ZSI for MPPT whereas in Conventional converters like VSI and CSI carries out. The Output of ZSI for PV system is compared with voltage Boosted converter and thus observed that dynamic stability of the system increases, THD reduces, power factor improves and efficiency increases by using ZSI for PV system. Simulation and experimental studies verify the performance of a new proposed control strategy

Glycosylated hemoglobin and left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Background: Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common diseases. Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction may represent the early stage of diabetic cardiomyopathy thus reinforcing the importance of the early examination of diastolic function in individuals with diabetes. Methods: This is a hospital based cross-sectional study done at a tertiary care hospital catering mainly to rural population. Patients having type 2 diabetes mellitus were scrutinized for doppler echocardiography and HbA1c levels. As per the previous studies and considering the prevalence of asymptomatic diastolic dysfunction in diabetics, the sample size was calculated. Statistical analysis was done by using descriptive and inferential statistics using chi square test. Results: In the present study 45 patients had HbA1C between 6.5- 8.0, out of which 9 had type I diastolic dysfunction, 1 had type II diastolic dysfunction and 35 had no diastolic dysfunction. 16 patients had HbA1C between 8.1- 9.5, out of which 7 had type I diastolic dysfunction, 8 had type II diastolic dysfunction and 1 had no diastolic dysfunction. 14 patients had HbA1C more than 9.5, out of which 4 had type I diastolic dysfunction, 5 had type II diastolic dysfunction, 4 had type III diastolic dysfunction and 1 patient did not had any diastolic dysfunction. The Chi-Square value is 55.51 and p value is 0.000 (Significant). Conclusions: Diastolic dysfunction correlates with the levels of glycosylated hemoglobin, duration of diabetes mellitus, presence of microvascular complications like diabetic retinopathy, neuropathy and nephropathy

Detecting Emerging Areas in Social Streams

Detecting the emerging areas becomes interest by the fast development of social networks. As the information exchanged in social networks post include not only the text but also images, URLs and video therefore conventional-term-frequency-based approaches may not be appropriate in this context. Emergence of areas is focused by social aspects of these networks. To detect the emergence of new areas from the hundreds of users based on the responds in social network posts. A probability model is proposed for mentioning behavior of social networks by the number of mentions per post and the occurrence of users taking place in the mentions. The basic assumption is that a new emerging topic is something people feel like discussing, stating or forwarding the data further to their friends. In the proposed system the link anomaly model is combined with word based and text based approach. DOI: 10.17762/ijritcc2321-8169.15039

Background: The prevalance of ovarian tumors is around 1-3%. The accurate diagnosis and appropriate management of ovarian tumors is a real challenge to gynaecologists. The aim of the study was to analyse the risk factors, clinical presentation, surgical procedure and histopathological report in patients with surgically managed ovarian tumours. Methods: We conducted a retrospective study by collecting the data of patients operated in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute, Kelambakkam. A total of 118 case records were studied. Results: 20.3% were nulliparous. 79.7% were multiparous. 10.2% were 60 years. 72.9% were premenopausal. 27.1% were postmenopausal. 25.4% presented with acute abdominal pain, 11.9% with mass abdomen, 30.5% with chronic pain abdomen and 32.2% were incidentally diagnosed. 20.4% underwent ovarian cystectomy, 18.6% ovariotomy, 30.5% salpingoophorectomy and 30.5% total abdominal hystrectomy with bilateral salpingoophorectomy. Most common histopathology report was simple cyst in 44.%. 31.3% had serous cystadenoma, 9.3% had mucinous cystadenoma, 9.3% had teratoma, 2.5% had brenner tumour, 1.7% borderline tumours and 1.7% malignancy (Serous cystadenocarcinoma). Conclusions: Elective surgical management of ovarian tumours is better option for reducing emergency laparotomies for torsion and rupture and also for obtaining a conclusive histopathological diagnosis in suspicious cases. The choice between laparoscopy and laparotomy should made after making appropriate preoperative evaluation

Antifouling activity of alkaline protease from halotolerant Bacillus sp. isolated from marine source

1274-1279In this study, an attempt has been made to explore the antifouling activity of the marine halotolerant bacterium, namely, Bacillus sp. About 10 different bacteria were isolated using the Zobell marine agar medium from the marine sediment samples that were collected from the Marina beach, Bay of Bengal, India. The growth pattern tests of the 10 bacteria were documented. Among the 10 different isolates, two exhibited the protease activity in skim milk agar. The antifouling activity was further tested against five different fouling bacteria. The antifouling activity of alkaline protease isolated from Bacillus sp. inferred that it exhibited pronounced inhibitory zones against fouling bacterial strains with least minimal inhibitory concentration range between 25 and 100 units/mg protein. Anticrustacean assay was performed using Artemia salina of alkaline protease, which showed good activity. The results suggest that Bacillus sp. produced an extracellular alkaline protease, which was responsible for the antifouling and algicidal activity of marine fouling organisms. This study tends to indicate that Bacillus sp. could be further explored for the development of new antifouling agents
