Is Rising Household Debt Affecting Retirement Decisions?

Household debt among older Americans approaching retirement has increased dramatically over the past couple of decades. Older households have become increasingly more indebted and more leveraged. While mortgages remain the predominant type of debt among households in their 50s and 60s, in recent years, student loan debt has also risen among these households. Using household survey data to examine how late life debt affects retirement decisions, we find that more indebted older adults are more likely to work, less likely to be retired, and on average expect to work longer than those with less debt

Pengaruh Stres Kerja Terhadap Kinerja Karyawan the Influence of Job Stress on Employees Job Performance

Every employee must have experienced job stress. Work stress can give positive effect but if excessive it will cause negative impact especially is on employee performance. Therefore work stress must be prevented and handled. Excessive job stress is also experienced by employees of production department at PT Catur Kartika Jaya which is engaged in making mosquito nets. Therefore this research was made to find out how the job stress faced by employees of the production of PT Catur Kartika Jaya and its influence on the performance of these employees. The results obtained through this study is that there is a strong and significant negative influence on work stress on the performance of production employee in PT Catur Kartika Jaya. Therefore, the authors suggest the company to do socialization about work stress management and various activities outside the work that can rest and refresh the soul and body. Setiap karyawan pasti pernah mengalami stres kerja. Stress kerja bisa memberi efek positif namun jika berlebihan maka akan menimbulkan dampak negatif terutama pada kinerja karyawan. Oleh karena itu stres kerja harus dicegah dan ditangani. Tekanan kerja yang berlebihan juga dialami oleh karyawan departemen produksi di PT Catur Kartika Jaya yang bergerak dalam pembuatan kelambu. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana tekanan kerja yang dihadapi karyawan produksi PT Catur Kartika Jaya dan pengaruhnya terhadap kinerja karyawan tersebut. Hasil yang diperoleh melalui penelitian ini adalah ada pengaruh negatif yang signifikan dan signifikan terhadap stres kerja terhadap kinerja pegawai produksi di PT Catur Kartika Jaya. Oleh karena itu, penulis menyarankan Perusahaan untuk melakukan sosialisasi tentang manajemen stres kerja dan berbagai kegiatan di luar pekerjaan yang dapat beristirahat dan menyegarkan jiwa dan raga

Reconocimiento óptico de fuentes en inglés en documentos de imágenes utilizando eigenfaces

Introduction: In this paper, a system for recognizing fonts has been designed and implemented. The system is based on the Eigenfaces method. Because font recognition works in conjunction with other methods like Optical Character Recognition (OCR), we used Decapod and OCRopus software as a framework to present the method. Materials and Methods: In our experiments, text typeset with three English fonts (Comic Sans MS, DejaVu Sans Condensed,Times New Roman) have been used. Results and Discussion: The system is tested thoroughly using synthetic and degraded data. The experimental results show that Eigenfaces algorithm is very good at recognizing fonts of synthetic clean data as well as degraded data. The correct recognition rate for synthetic data for Eigenfaces is 99% based on Euclidean Distance. The overall accuracy of Eigenfaces is 97% based on 6144 degraded samples and considering Euclidean Distance performance criterion. Conclusions: It is concluded from the experimental results that the Eigenfaces method is suitable for font recognition of degraded documents. The three percentage incorrect classification can be mediated by relying on intra-word font information

Penggunaan Expectancy Theory dalam Upaya Mengukur Motivasi Kerja Karyawan di Pdam X

PDAM X selalu berusaha untuk meningkatkan motivasi kerja karyawan dalam mencapai tujuan Perusahaan. Hal ini dikarenakan penurunan motivasi kerja karyawan yang dapat diketahui dari ketidakhadiran karyawan sebesar 28,06%. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Expectancy Theory. Metode Expectancy Theory digunakan untuk mengetahui tingkat motivasi kerja karyawan, dan mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor motivasi kerja karyawan. Hasil penelitian dengan menggunakan metode Expectancy Theory menunjukan bahwa karyawan yang bekerja pada motivasi rendah (46,67%), karyawan yang bekerja pada motivasi sedang (33,33%), sedangkan karyawan yang bekerja pada motivasi tinggi (20,00%). Faktor utama yang mempengaruhi motivasi kerja karyawan adalah gaji yang meningkat dengan total nilai motivasi 20,63. Saran bagi Perusahaan adalah menyediakan kotak saran agar para karyawan dapat menyampaikan keluhan mereka selama bekerja

Generalized multiresolution analyses are increasing sequences of subspaces of a Hilbert space \H that fail to be multiresolution analyses in the sense of wavelet theory because the core subspace does not have an orthonormal basis generated by a fixed scaling function. Previous authors have studied a multiplicity function $m$ which, loosely speaking, measures the failure of the GMRA to be an MRA. When the Hilbert space \H is $L^2(\mathbb R^n)$, the possible multiplicity functions have been characterized by Baggett and Merrill. Here we start with a function $m$ satisfying a consistency condition which is known to be necessary, and build a GMRA in an abstract Hilbert space with multiplicity function $m$.Comment: 16 pages including bibliograph
