Bromeliaceae species from coastal restinga habitats, Brazilian states of Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, and Bahia.
Bromeliaceae is one of the most representative plant families in restinga habitats. We analyzed the speciesrichness and composition of Bromeliaceae in 13 restinga habitats along the Brazilian coast. We found a total of 41species distributed along the restinga habitats studied. The restinga of Praia do Sul, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, hadthe highest number of species (15), whereas the restinga of Abaeté, in the state of Bahia, had the lowest (4). Our dataare suggestive that the Doce River may represent the limit of distribution for some bromeliad species, with some speciesoccurring only south of that river and others occurring only to the north of it. The differences in Bromeliaceae speciescomposition among restinga habitats probably are not only due to differences in local environmental conditions, butalso due to the geographic distribution pattern of each species and to the present degree of disturbance at each restinga

Biliary ascites: case report
T2 phase site occupancies in the Cr--Si--B system: a combined synchroton-XRD/first-principles study
Boron and Silicon site occupancies of the T2 phase in the Cr-Si-B system were
investigated experimentally and by first-principles electronic-structure
calculations within the scope of the Density Functional Theory (DFT). A sample
with nominal composition CrBSi was arc-melted under
argon, encapsulated in a quartz-tube and heat-treated at 1400{\deg}C for 96
hours. It was then analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-Ray
Diffractometry (XRD) with synchrotron radiation. An excellent agreement was
obtained between experiments and theoretical calculations, revealing that Si
occupies preferably the sublattice of the structure due to the presence of
weak B bonds, making the site preferences a key factor for its stabilization.
The results of this work provide important information to support a better
description of this phase in alloys with Si and B, since T2 phases are known to
occur in many important Transition Metal-Si-B ternary systems, such as
Nb/Mo/W/Ta/V-Si-B
Evaluation of air cleaning using functionalized asphalt mixture sprayed with TiO 2 nanoparticles
[Excerto] Photocatalytic asphalt mixtures have gained attention as a possible alternative to mitigate the air pollution in urban areas. The asphalt surface when functionalized with nano-TiO2
can reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx), a harmful pollutant emitted by vehicles that contributes to problems such as acid rain and public health concernsCT/MCTES sponsored this research by the projects NanoAir
