Equilibrium states and their entropy densities in gauge-invariant C*-systems

A gauge-invariant C*-system is obtained as the fixed point subalgebra of the infinite tensor product of full matrix algebras under the tensor product unitary action of a compact group. In the paper, thermodynamics is studied on such systems and the chemical potential theory developed by Araki, Haag, Kastler and Takesaki is used. As a generalization of quantum spin system, the equivalence of the KMS condition, the Gibbs condition and the variational principle is shown for translation-invariant states. The entropy density of extremal equilibrium states is also investigated in relation to macroscopic uniformity.Comment: 20 pages, revised in March 200

Equilibrium States and Their Macroscopic Uniformity in Fermion Lattice Systems

We study equilibrium states and their macroscopic uniformity in the fermion lattice system satisfying the assumptions presented by Araki and Moriya [5]. We show that every translation-invariant KMS state of the even part of the fermion algebra extends uniquely to a translation-invariant KMS state of the whole fermion algebra. The macroscopic uniformity is established for an extremal translation-invariant equilibrium state of the fermion algebra

Complete Genome Sequence of the Representative γ-Hexachlorocyclohexane-Degrading Bacterium Sphingobium japonicum UT26 ▿

    No full text
Sphingobium japonicum strain UT26 utilizes γ-hexachlorocyclohexane (γ-HCH), a man-made chlorinated pesticide that causes serious environmental problems due to its toxicity and long persistence, as a sole source of carbon and energy. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of UT26, which consists of two chromosomes and three plasmids. The 15 lin genes involved in γ-HCH degradation are dispersed on the two chromosomes and one of the three plasmids

Complete Genome Sequence of Sphingobium sp. Strain SYK-6, a Degrader of Lignin-Derived Biaryls and Monoaryls

    No full text
Sphingobium sp. strain SYK-6 is able to grow on an extensive variety of lignin-derived biaryls and monoaryls, and the catabolic genes for these compounds are useful for the production of industrially valuable metabolites from lignin. Here we report the complete nucleotide sequence of the SYK-6 genome which consists of the 4,199,332-bp-long chromosome and the 148,801-bp-long plasmid

Three cases of corticosteroid therapy triggering ventricular fibrillation in J-wave syndromes

    Get PDF
open accessWe describe three cases of J-wave syndrome in which ventricular fibrillation (VF) was probably induced by corticosteroid therapy. The patients involved were being treated with prednisolone for concomitant bronchial asthma. One of the three patients had only one episode of VF during her long follow-up period (14 years). Two patients had hypokalemia during their VF episodes. Corticosteroids have been shown to induce various types of arrhythmia and to modify cardiac potassium channels. We discuss the possible association between corticosteroid therapy and VF in J-wave syndrome based on the cases we have encountered
