Since the 1990s, globalization has become a central phenomenon for all of society, including graduate education and particularly doctoral education. Globalization takes place in a context where doctoral education and research capacity are unevenly distributed and where a few research universities, mainly in wealthy countries, have become powerful social institutions. But all graduate education systems are increasingly part of an international context in which policy-makers — at every level — are aware of and responding to developments in higher education outside their national borders. For the fi rst time, conditions exist for the emergence of a truly international system of doctoral education; this openness to innovation and expansion holds enormous potential for advancing a more effective future-oriented PhD

Potential of line varieties of winter oilseed rape within organic growing technology

Different responses of winter oilseed rape (WOSR) varieties to various growing locality conditions as well as to the intensity of technological inputs are known. Organic grower-need varieties provide sufficient yield even within extensive growing conditions. Ten commonly grown line varieties in the Czech Republic were tested using extensive organic growing technology. These varieties were evaluated for the occurrence of fungal diseases by ripening and seed yield. Some of OSR tested varieties proved to have higher resistance to fungal diseases as well as significantly higher seed yields. Higher resistance against Phoma lingam proved varieties Caracas, Ontario, Liprima, Cando and Manitoba. Higher resistance against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum proved varieties Ontario, Smart and Oponent. The highest yield within a two-year average was produced by the Caracas, Manitoba and Ontario varieties. These varieties are more likely to be recommended for practical organic growing

Možnosti intenzifikace v ekologické pěstitelské technologii ozimé řepky

Odrůdy ozimé řepky reagují na podmínky lokality i úroveň intenzifikačních vstupů rozdílně. Zákonná omezení, která musí ekologických pěstitel respektovat, kladou vyšší nároky na volbu postupů i výběr odrůd, především z hlediska jejich schopnosti odolávat různým druhům stresu a schopnost poskytnout uspokojivý výnos i v extenzivních pěstitelských podmínkách. V technologické části pokusu byly zkoušeny přípravky ochrany rostlin povolené v ekologickém zemědělství u nás či v zahraničí, Polyversum s fungicidními účinky, Pyrethrum a další dva botanické insekticidy. S cílem zlepšit výživové poměry pěstovaných rostlin byly testovány Guáno, Biokal a Lignohumát. Pro technologickou část pokusu byla vybrána ozimá odrůda Oponent. V pokusech se osvědčily především látky zlepšující výživný stav rostlin. Použití dalších intenzifikačních opatření se v extenzivních podmínkách také projevilo zvýšením výnosu. V podmínkách ekologické pěstitelské technologie bylo testováno 10 liniových odrůd běžně pěstovaných na konvenčních plochách. Hodnocena byla odolnost vůči houbovým chorobám a výnos semen. Vyšší odolností k Fomové hnilobě se vyznačují odrůdy Caracas, Ontario, Liprima, Cando a Manitoba. Vůči Sklerotinii vykazují vyšší odolnost Ontario, Smart a Oponent. Nejvyšší průměrný výnos dosáhly v průměru dvou let odrůdy Caracas, Manitoba a Ontario
