    General impossible operations in quantum information

    We prove a general limitation in quantum information that unifies the impossibility principles such as no-cloning and no-anticloning. Further, we show that for an unknown qubit one cannot design a universal Hadamard gate for creating equal superposition of the original and its complement state. Surprisingly, we find that Hadamard transformations exist for an unknown qubit chosen either from the polar or equatorial great circles. Also, we show that for an unknown qubit one cannot design a universal unitary gate for creating unequal superpositions of the original and its complement state.     Hilbert-Schmidt Operators vs. Integrable Systems of Elliptic Calogero-Moser Type III. The Heun Case

    The Heun equation can be rewritten as an eigenvalue equation for an ordinary differential operator of the form d2/dx2+V(g;x)-d^2/dx^2+V(g;x), where the potential is an elliptic function depending on a coupling vector gR4g\in{\mathbb R}^4. Alternatively, this operator arises from the BC1BC_1 specialization of the BCNBC_N elliptic nonrelativistic Calogero-Moser system (a.k.a. the Inozemtsev system). Under suitable restrictions on the elliptic periods and on gg, we associate to this operator a self-adjoint operator H(g)H(g) on the Hilbert space H=L2([0,ω1],dx){\mathcal H}=L^2([0,\omega_1],dx), where 2ω12\omega_1 is the real period of V(g;x)V(g;x). For this association and a further analysis of H(g)H(g), a certain Hilbert-Schmidt operator I(g){\mathcal I}(g) on H{\mathcal H} plays a critical role. In particular, using the intimate relation of H(g)H(g) and I(g){\mathcal I}(g), we obtain a remarkable spectral invariance: In terms of a coupling vector cR4c\in{\mathbb R}^4 that depends linearly on gg, the spectrum of H(g(c))H(g(c)) is invariant under arbitrary permutations σ(c)\sigma(c), σS4\sigma\in S_4

    Puerperal Tetanus in Water Buffalo - A Case Report

    Abstract: Reports of tetanus in buffaloes are scanty in comparison to cattle, horse, sheep and goat. A six years old Murrah buffalo, five days post-partum, was presented for treatment with a history of manual removal of retained placenta. Prolapse of third eyelid, complete locking of jaw, development of curve in spine, erection of ear and typical "pump-handle" position of tail were visible signs. Diagnosis was established on the basis of case history and clinical signs. Treatment was carried out with irrigation of genital tract with 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide and administration of hypertonic saline solution (7.5%), dextrose normal saline (5%), penicillin G procaine in high dose, ketoprofen and chlorpromazine. The animal fell like a stiff, wooden structure on day 11 of the onset of the disease and succumbed to its illness

    The Classical Exchange Algebra of AdS5 x S5 String Theory

    The classical exchange algebra satisfied by the monodromy matrix of AdS5 x S5 string theory in the Green-Schwarz formulation is determined by using a first-order Hamiltonian formulation and by adding to the Bena-Polchinski-Roiban Lax connection terms proportional to constraints. This enables in particular to show that the conserved charges of this theory are in involution. This result is obtained for a general world-sheet metric. The same exchange algebra is obtained within the pure spinor description of AdS5 x S5 string theory. These results are compared to the one obtained by A. Mikhailov and S.     Anomalous behaviors of the charge and spin degrees of freedom in the CuO double chains of PrBa2_2Cu4_4O8_8

    The density-matrix renormalization-group method is used to study the electronic states of a two-chain Hubbard model for CuO double chains of PrBa2_2Cu4_4O8_8. We show that the model at quarter filling has the charge ordered phases with stripe-type and in-line--type patterns in the parameter space, and in-between, there appears a wide region of vanishing charge gap; the latter phase is characteristic of either Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid or a metallic state with a spin gap. We argue that the low-energy electronic state of the CuO double chains of PrBa2_2Cu4_4O8_8 should be in the metallic state with a possibly small spin gap.Comment: REVTEX 4, 10 pages, 9 figures; submitted to PR

    Gadjah Mungkur Reservoir is one of the multipurpose reservoirs built by damming the flow of the Bengawan Solo River. The Gadjah Mungkur Reservoir has existed for a long time with the main purpose of controlling flooding, but over time, this reservoir is also useful as a hydropower plant, irrigation, and also to meet the raw water needs of Wonogiri City. The potential of the Gadjah Mungkur Reservoir itself in meeting the needs of drinking water is an essential function in the people’s life around the reservoir. Therefore, the expansion of the scope of providing drinking water can be used to develop the potential of the Gadjah Mungkur Reservoir. This coverage expansion was realized through the construction of the Wosusokas intake and transmission pipeline network to drinking water receiving areas, namely Wonogiri, Sukoharjo, Solo, and Karanganyar, with service coverage of drinking water access resepectively ±78,38, ±70,97%, ±81,85%, and ±70,97%. This study aims to analyze the water availability of the Gadjah Mungkur Reservoir with additional coverage for drinking water services. The method used is a simple reservoir routing calculation by processing secondary data obtained in the form of inflow, outflow, and reservoir storage characteristics. The results of the analysis show that elevation variations with the construction of the Wosusokas intake and transmission pipeline have an annual average of +132,56 m in 2017, with a reservoir storage volume reaching 216,27 MCM and +134,29 m in 2018, with a reservoir storage volume reaching 284,92 MCM. However, there are some elevation values that exceed +138,0 m, namely at February to March 2018. However, overall, the results of the analysis show that the Wosusokas construction can increase the potential utilization of the Gadjah Mungkur Reservoir without endangering the reservoir with water level fluctuations that can still be controlled and in accordance with the regulation of reservoir water level

    No spin-glass transition in the "mobile-bond" model

    The recently introduced ``mobile-bond'' model for two-dimensional spin glasses is studied. The model is characterized by an annealing temperature T_q. On the basis of Monte Carlo simulations of small systems it has been claimed that this model exhibits a non-trivial spin-glass transition at finite temperature for small values of T_q. Here the model is studied by means of exact ground-state calculations of large systems up to N=256^2. The scaling of domain-wall energies is investigated as a function of the system size. For small values T_q<0.95 the system behaves like a (gauge-transformed) ferromagnet having a small fraction of frustrated plaquettes. For T_q>=0.95 the system behaves like the standard two-dimensional +-J spin-glass, i.e. it does NOT exhibit a phase transition at T>0.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, RevTe

    An investigation of an optimal universal unitary Controlled-NOT gate that performs a specific operation on two unknown states of qubits taken from a great circle of the Bloch sphere is presented. The deep analogy between the optimal universal C-NOT gate and the `equatorial' quantum cloning machine (QCM) is shown.     Calixarene bulk modified screen-printed electrodes (SPCCEs) as a one-shot disposable sensor for the simultaneous detection of lead(II), copper(II) and mercury(II) ions: Application to environmental samples

    Calixarene bulk modified screen-printed electrodes (SPCCEs) have been designed, fabricated and utilized as one-shot disposable electrochemical sensors towards the simultaneous measurement of toxic metal ions lead(II), copper(II) and mercury(II) within environmental samples. These SPCCEs have been fabricated upon polyester strips, which have been modified over a range of different calixarene compositions. These bespoke sensors have been utilized as disposable electrochemical sensors and quantified in model aqueous solution of 0.1 M HCl giving rise to the simultaneous sensing of lead(II), copper(II) and mercury(II) using cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry techniques. These SPCCEs have additionally been applied for the sensing of lead(II), copper(II) and mercury(II) within industrial and environmental samples such as industrial effluents and wastewater samples, furthermore the presented method has been subjected to a comprehensive interference study and further validated with an atomic absorption spectrometric method. © 2017 Elsevier B.V
