    EXTRACTION OF TANNIN, GALLIC ACID AND PYROGALLOL FROM AQUEOUS MEDIA WITH WATER-SOLUBLE POLYMERS AND THEIR DETERMINATION IN CONCENTRATES BY THIN-LAYER CHROMATOGRAPHY

    For the first time water-soluble homo- and co-polymers based on N-vinylcaprolactam and N-vinylpyrrolidone were applied for the extraction of tannin, gallic acid and pyrogallol from the aqueous-salt solutions. The distribution coefficients and the degree of extraction of phenols were established. Extraction characteristics of phenols depend on their solubility, structure, and the number of functional groups in their molecules that can form hydrogen bonds and π-complexes with polymers. The large distribution coefficients of tannin are due to its high hydrophobicity. It was established that the copolymer of N-vinylpyrrolidone with N-vinylcaprolactam shows higher extraction efficiency than homopolymers. The efficiency of extraction of the studied phenols depends on the pH of aqueous solutions. The maximum degree of extraction of phenols was achieved at pH 3. Conditions of division and determination of phenols in the polymer-aqueous concentrate using the chromatography method in a thin layer were chosen. It has been established that the selective separation of the investigated phenols is achieved using a mobile phase of 1-butanol, acetic acid and chloroform in the ratio (vol.) 4 : 1 : 5. Eluent eliminates the blur spots.  Separation time of analytes is reduced from 60 to 20-30 min in comparison with known chromatographic systems. It was established that the nature of the polymer and its presence in the concentrate does not affect the chromatographic characteristics.     Для экстракции танина, галловой кислоты и пирогаллола из водно-солевых растворов впервые применены водорастворимые гомо- и сополимеры на основе N-винилкапролактама и N-винилпирролидона. Установлены коэффициенты распределения и степень извлечения фенолов. Экстракционные характеристики фенолов зависят от их растворимости, строения, числа функциональных групп в их молекулах, способных образовывать водородные связи и π-комплексы с полимерами. Большие коэффициенты распределения таннина обусловлены его высокой гидрофобностью. Установлено, что сополимер N-винилпирролидона и N-винилкапролактама проявляет большую экстракционную способность по сравнению с гомополимерами. Эффективность экстракции исследуемых фенолов зависит от рН раствора. Максимальная степень извлечения фенолов достигается при рН = 3. Обоснованы условия разделения и определения фенолов в полимерно-водном концентрате методом хроматографии в тонком слое. Селективное разделение исследуемых фенолов проводили с применением подвижной фазы, состоящей из бутанола-1, уксусной кислоты и хлороформа в соотношении (об.) 4 : 1 : 5. Элюент исключает размывание пятен. По сравнению с известными хроматографическими системами время разделения аналитов уменьшается с 60 до 20-30 минут. Установлено, что природа полимера и его присутствие в концентрате не влияет на хроматографические характеристики.     The Rent Taxation Concept for Solid Minerals Extraction and Recovery

    The article considers the conceptual approaches to the taxation of natural resource use. The purpose of the article is to identify the governmental tax risks in the implementation of various scenarios of mining rent withdrawal and to substantiate the methodology of resource taxation in extraction and processing of solid minerals, based on the principle of tax justice. The authors reveal the factors of tax risks for the state in exercising its sovereign right to the mining rent. The article formulates the requirements to the tax system, the observance of which will allow to consider the factors of the state tax risks. Advantages and disadvantages of certain fiscal payments for extraction of mineral raw materials are determined. It is shown that the resource tax should be based on the present value, calculated as the net present value of the investor for the entire lifetime of the project. The authors propose a mining rent taxation mechanism, which would increase budget revenues while maintaining the incentives for mining companies to invest in exploration. The main forks in the design of such a rent income tax are shown

The optimum place of installation of SHPP is defined, the equipment is chosen and economic calculation of action is carried out.     A facility to Search for Hidden Particles (SHiP) at the CERN SPS

    A new general purpose fixed target facility is proposed at the CERN SPS accelerator which is aimed at exploring the domain of hidden particles and make measurements with tau neutrinos. Hidden particles are predicted by a large number of models beyond the Standard Model. The high intensity of the SPS 400~GeV beam allows probing a wide variety of models containing light long-lived exotic particles with masses below O{\cal O}(10)~GeV/c2^2, including very weakly interacting low-energy SUSY states. The experimental programme of the proposed facility is capable of being extended in the future, e.g. to include direct searches for Dark Matter and Lepton Flavour Violation.Comment: Technical Proposa

    Objectives. Given that microorganisms can become resistant to certain groups of drugs and considering also their ability to form biofilms, the development of new drugs that are active against adapted microflora is required. This study focused on the development of a new method for the synthesis of a promising compound, the branched hydrosuccinate oligohexamethylene guanidine (OHMGsucc), with high purity that meets the standards of the 14th edition State Pharmacopeia of the Russian Federation (SPRF). Previously proposed methods have managed to isolate this product, which, however, complies with the requirements of the outdated SPRF. Therefore, the main aim of this study was to update the regulatory framework for the indicated OHMG salt for its further use in the pharmaceutical industry according to modern standards.Methods. To control the residual impurities of hexamethylenediamine (HMDA) and guanidine hydrochloride (GHC), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was applied using a Thermo Scientific Dionex UltiMate 3000 chromatograph, and the chromatographic signals of the test solution with those of a standard sample solution obtained by a previously published conventional method were compared.Results. The HPLC experimental data indicated a significant difference in the quantitative content of HMDA and GHC observed for the new and older preparation method of the branched OHMGsucc, suggesting that the method disclosed in this article can be used to obtain highly pure OHMGsucc.Conclusions. The specified compound was standardized with the parameter “related impurities” according to the current (14th) edition of the SPRF. The effectiveness and reproducibility of the proposed method was experimentally confirmed. In addition, a process diagram for the preparation of the indicated OHMG salt was prepared.Цели. На фоне приобретения микроорганизмами резистентности к определенным группам лекарственных средств, а также способностей образовывать биопленки, требуются новые препараты, активные против адаптированной микрофлоры. Cтатья посвящена изысканию способа получения перспективного соединения – разветвленного гидросукцината олигогексаметиленгуанидина с высокой степенью чистоты, соответствующей нормам Государственной Фармакопеи 14 издания. Так как предложенные ранее методы позволяли получить продукт, удовлетворяющий требованиям устаревшей Государственной Фармакопеи, то основной целью являлась актуализация нормативной базы в отношении указанной соли олигогексаметиленгуанидина для ее дальнейшего применения в фармацевтической отрасли согласно современным стандартам.Методы. Для контроля примесных соединений – гексаметилендиамина и гуанидина гидрохлорида применяли высокоэффективную жидкостную хроматографию, которую проводили на хроматографе Thermo Scientific Dionex UltiMate 3000 методом внешнего стандарта.Результаты. На основании экспериментальных данных, полученных с помощью высокоэффективной жидкостной хроматографии, отображена разница в количественном содержании остаточных примесей в составе субстанции разветвленного гидросукцината олигогексаметиленгуанидина, полученной двумя разными способами. Отмечено, что способ, предложенный авторами настоящей статьи, позволяет снизить их содержание по сравнению с конвенциональным методом.Выводы. Согласно представленным данным проведена стандартизация указанного соединения по параметру «Родственные примеси» в соответствии с актуальным на данный момент изданием Государственной Фармакопеи. Вследствие того, что эффективность предложенного метода экспериментально подтвердилась, на заключительном этапе работы была составлена технологическая схема получения указанной соли олигогексаметиленгуанидина

    Performance of the LHCb muon system

    The performance of the LHCb Muon system and its stability across the full 2010 data taking with LHC running at ps = 7 TeV energy is studied. The optimization of the detector setting and the time calibration performed with the first collisions delivered by LHC is described. Particle rates, measured for the wide range of luminosities and beam operation conditions experienced during the run, are compared with the values expected from simulation. The space and time alignment of the detectors, chamber efficiency, time resolution and cluster size are evaluated. The detector performance is found to be as expected from specifications or better.     Neurogenic pulmonary edema is one of the complications of acute cerebral diseases and traumas and it is accompanied by severe respiratory failure. It is associated with a high mortality level. There are several theories about neurogenic pulmonary edema development. The theory of the double hit is the most recent causing significant discussion. The theory is based on the pulmonary injury due to systemic inflammatory response when the glial tissue of the injured brain becomes the source of inflammatory mediators. A similar pathogenesis allows considering neurogenic pulmonary edema to be one of the forms of acute respiratory distress syndrome. It has diagnostic criteria common with acute respiratory distress syndrome, which are identified during acute cerebral injury and not associated with the other etiological factors. Currently, there are no effective prevention and treatment of neurogenic pulmonary edema. Support of respiratory exchange through artificial pulmonary ventilation is a major tool used for its management, which is recommended to be performed in compliance with protective ventilation principles. And some particular approaches of the preventive ventilation can be applied only with neuromonitoring. Нейрогенный отек легких (НОЛ) является одним из осложнений острых заболеваний и травм головного мозга (ГМ) и сопровождается развитием тяжелой дыхательной недостаточности. Его возникновение связано с высоким уровнем летальности. Существует несколько теорий развития НОЛ. Наиболее современной и обсуждаемой среди них является теория «двойного удара». В ее основе лежит повреждение легких за счет системной воспалительной реакции, источником медиаторов воспаления для которой становится глиальная ткань поврежденного ГМ. Сходство патогенеза позволяет рассматривать НОЛ как одну из форм острого респираторного дистресс-синдрома (ОРДС). Для его диагностики используются общие с ОРДС критерии, выявляемые на фоне острого повреждения ГМ и не имеющие связи с другими этиологическими факторами. Эффективных мер профилактики и лечения НОЛ в настоящее время не разработано. Ведущее место в его терапии занимает поддержание газообмена с помощью искусственной вентиляции легких, которую рекомендуется проводить в соответствии с принципами протективной вентиляции. При этом использование ее отдельных подходов возможно только в условиях нейромониторинга.
