Parametric Generation of Subharmonics in a Composite Multiferroic Resonator
Parametric generation of subharmonics in a composite multiferroic resonator is observed and investigated. The resonator has the form of a disk and contains two mechanically coupled layers, one of which is amorphous ferromagnet Fe-B-Si-C and the other piezoelectric lead zirconate titanate. The resonator is placed inside two planar electromagnetic coils with orthogonal axes. A static magnetic field of 0-100 Oe is applied parallel to the plane of the resonator. The resonator is excited in the frequency range f = 9-10 kHz by either a harmonic magnetic field with an amplitude of up to 5 Oe generated by one of the coils, or a harmonic electric field with an amplitude of up to 500 V/cm applied to the piezoelectric layer. When the pump field is above a certain threshold, generation of a subharmonic of half-frequency (f/2) is observed for three different excitation methods. The first two employed either the direct magnetoelectric effect or the converse magnetoelectric effect, while in the third a transformer system is utilized. The subharmonic is generated in a limited range of pump frequencies and its amplitude is a nonlinear function of both the pump-field amplitude and the strength of static magnetic field. A theory of parametric generation of the subharmonic in a multiferroic resonator is developed, taking into account the magnetoacoustic nonlinearity of the ferromagnetic layer of the structure and excitation of acoustic resonances near the pump and subharmonic frequencies. The theory qualitatively describes the main characteristics of the subharmonic generation.</p

Observation of nuclei with energies 8-30 MeV per nucleon in the Earth's magnetosphere at the altitudes 350 KM
Observations of the flux of nuclei with an energy of IO MeV per nucleon on the Salyut-7 Station in September 1984 are presented. The observed flux is smaller by a factor of 50 than the flux detected in May, 1981
Development of low-temperature thermochemical conversion reactors for coal power engineering
The main principles applied in developing a technology for low-temperature thermochemical conversion of brown coals to obtain fuel gas and semicoke intended for being fired in two-fuel power installations are considered on the basis of a set of experimental and calculated investigations. The obtained results are compared with the experimental data obtained using other methods and with the results of previous industrial tests. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Inc
Josephson Vortex States in Intermediate Fields
Motivated by recent resistance data in high superconductors in fields
{\it parallel} to the CuO layers, we address two issues on the Josephson-vortex
phase diagram, the appearances of structural transitions on the observed first
order transition (FOT) curve in intermediate fields and of a lower critical
point of the FOT line. It is found that some rotated pinned solids are more
stable than the ordinary rhombic pinned solids with vacant interlayer spacings
and that, due to the vertical portion in higher fields of the FOT line, the FOT
tends to be destroyed by creating a lower critical point.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures. To appear in J.Phys.Soc.Jpn. 71, No.2 (February,

About possibility to locate an EQ epicenter using parameters of ELF/ULF preseismic emission
A relation between parameters of preseismic ULF/ELF emissions and EQ is studied. The magnetic data measured at Karymshino station (Kamchatka, Russia) along with data on local seismic activity during eight years of observations (2001–2008) are taken for the analysis. Source azimuth is detected in different techniques, based on the analysis of the total field and its polarized pulsed component. The latter technique shows a better accuracy in the source azimuth detection. The errors of the method are associated with existence of non-seismic sources and with use of one-point observation. The second error can be eliminated by development of multi-point observations
Flow Induced Organization and Memory of a Vortex Lattice
We report on experiments probing the evolution of a vortex state in response
to a driving current in 2H-NbSe crystals. By following the vortex motion
with fast transport measurements we find that the current enables the system to
reorganize and access new configurations. During this process the system
exhibits a long-term memory: if the current is turned off the vortices freeze
in place remembering their prior motion. When the current is restored the
motion resumes where it stopped. The experiments provide evidence for a
dynamically driven structural change of the vortex lattice and a corresponding
dynamic phase diagram that contains a previously unknown regime where the
critical current can be either or by applying an
appropriate driving current.Comment: 5 pages, 4figure
Mass Transfer Mechanism in Real Crystals by Pulsed Laser Irradiation
The dynamic processes in the surface layers of metals subjected activity of a
pulsing laser irradiation, which destroyed not the crystalline structure in
details surveyed. The procedure of calculation of a dislocation density
generated in bulk of metal during the relaxation processes and at repeated
pulse laser action is presented. The results of evaluations coincide with high
accuracy with transmission electron microscopy dates. The
dislocation-interstitial mechanism of laser-stimulated mass-transfer in real
crystals is presented on the basis of the ideas of the interaction of structure
defects in dynamically deforming medium. The good compliance of theoretical and
experimental results approves a defining role of the presented mechanism of
mass transfer at pulse laser action on metals. The possible implementation this
dislocation-interstitial mechanism of mass transfer in metals to other cases of
pulsing influences is justifiedComment: 10 pages, 2 figures, Late
Comparative assessment of the diagnostic value of echocardiography and magnetic resonance imaging in determining myocardial viability
Aim. To compare myocardial imaging methods in patients with complicated coronary artery disease with significantly decreased myocardial contractility.Material and methods. This single-center retrospective study included 109 patients with complicated coronary artery disease who underwent surgical treatment between 2014 and 2020. All patients had indications for delayed contrast-enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in order to determine myocardial viability due to a pronounced decrease in left ventricular contractility according to echocardiography (ejection fraction (EF) ≤30%).Results. Impairment of local contractility according to MRI and echocardiography significantly correlates with depth of contrast accumulation (p=0,0000000018 and p=0,0000034, respectively). Delayed contrast-enhanced cardiac MRI with cine sequences allows to determine higher number of impaired contractility cases compared with echocardiography (p=0,000006).Conclusion. MRI with cine sequence allowed to determine higher number of impaired contractility cases compared with echocardiography. Delayed contrastenhanced MRI is a reliably more sensitive method than electrocardiography in detecting left ventricular scarring. The depth of contrast agent accumulation correlates with local contractility impairment detected by echocardiography and delayed contrast-enhanced cardiac MRI
V-I characteristics in the vicinity of order-disorder transition in vortex matter
The shape of the V-I characteristics leading to a peak in the differential
resistance r_d=dV/dI in the vicinity of the order-disorder transition in NbSe2
is investigated. r_d is large when measured by dc current. However, for a small
Iac on a dc bias r_d decreases rapidly with frequency, even at a few Hz, and
displays a large out-of-phase signal. In contrast, the ac response increases
with frequency in the absence of dc bias. These surprisingly opposite phenomena
and the peak in r_d are shown to result from a dynamic coexistence of two
vortex matter phases rather than from the commonly assumed plastic depinning.Comment: 12 pages 4 figures. Accepted for publication in PRB rapi
