Past distribution of Tilia-feeding Phyllonorycter micromoth (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae) in the Russian Far East based on survey of historical herbarium

    Get PDF
Distribution data of Tilia-feeding Phyllonorycter in the Russian Far East have been retrieved from a century-old Tilia herbarium stored in Vladivostok. Overall, 280 typical mines of Phyllonorycter, some with larvae and pupae, were found on 61 out of 799 herbarized specimens of Tilia spp. collected in Khabarovskii krai and Primorskii krai. For the first time, the presence of Tilia-feeding Phyllonorycter has been documented in Amurskaya oblast and Jewish Autonomous oblast. High densities of the leafminer have been recorded on Tilia amurensis sampled in Khabarovskii krai and Primorskii krai between 1937 and 2005 suggesting a population dynamics with recurrent outbreaks. Our results confirm the importance of historical herbarium collections in studying trophic interactions and invasion ecology of folivore organisms

© 2017, Pleiades Publishing, Inc. Chromatography and histochemical analysis of soluble phenolic compounds demonstrated their higher content in the roots of cycloheximide-treated pea plants. These substances accumulated together with lignin in the endodermis and xylem cells of conducting bundles. This finding confirms the antipathogenic cycloheximide effect based on the previous results of proteome analysis

Generalized action principle and extrinsic geometry for N=1 superparticle

    Get PDF
It is proposed the generalized action functional for N=1 superparticle in D=3,4,6 and 10 space-time dimensions. The superfield geometric approach equations describing superparticle motion in terms of extrinsic geometry of the worldline superspace are obtained on the base of the generalized action. The off-shell superdiffeomorphism invariance (in the rheonomic sense) of the superparticle generalized action is proved. It was demonstrated that the half of the fermionic and one bosonic (super)fields disappear from the generalized action in the analytical basis. Superparticle interaction with Abelian gauge theory is considered in the framework of this formulation. The geometric approach equations describing superparticle motion in Abelian background are obtained.Comment: 31 pages. Late

Possible ways of generalization of the superembedding approach for the supersurfaces with the number of Grassmann directions being less than the half of that for the target superspace are considered on example of Type II superstrings. Focus is on n=(1,1) superworldsheet embedded into D=10 Type II superspace that is of the interest for establishing a relation with the NSR string.Comment: 26 pages, LaTeX, JHEP.cls and JHEP.bst style files are used; v2: misprints corrected, comments, acknowledgments, references adde

Many-Body Superconformal Systems from Hamiltonian Reductions

We propose a new reduction mechanism which allows one to construct n-particle (super)conformal theories with pairwise interaction starting from a composite system involving n(n-1)/2+1 copies of the ordinary (super)conformal mechanics. Applications of the scheme include an N=4 superconformal extension for a complexification of the Calogero model and a D(2,1|\alpha)-invariant n-particle system.Comment: 12 pages, no figures. v2: Title changed. Comments on Supercurrent Multiplets, Supersymmetric Field Theories and Supergravity

We analyze various supersymmetry multiplets containing the supercurrent and the energy-momentum tensor. The most widely known such multiplet, the Ferrara-Zumino (FZ) multiplet, is not always well-defined. This can happen once Fayet-Iliopoulos (FI) terms are present or when the Kahler form of the target space is not exact. We present a new multiplet S which always exists. This understanding of the supersymmetry current allows us to obtain new results about the possible IR behavior of supersymmetric theories. Next, we discuss the coupling of rigid supersymmetric theories to supergravity. When the theory has an FZ-multiplet or it has a global R-symmetry the standard formalism can be used. But when this is not the case such simple gauging is impossible. Then, we must gauge the current S. The resulting theory has, in addition to the graviton and the gravitino, another massless chiral superfield Phi which is essential for the consistency of the theory. Some of the moduli of various string models play the role of Phi. Our general considerations, which are based on the consistency of supergravity, show that such moduli cannot be easily lifted thus leading to constraints on gravity/string models.Comment: 27 pages. v2: references added and minor changes. v3: minor changes. v4: minor clarification

МИКРОМЕТЕОРИТЫ ИЗ СОВРЕМЕННЫХ ОСАДКОВ ЦЕНТРАЛЬНОЙ ЧАСТИ ОЗЕРА БАЙКАЛ

The study is focused on micrometeorites from bottom sediments sampled from the Selenga-Buguldeika lintel of Lake Baikal. Their diatom analysis showed continuous sedimentation during the Holocene. Mineralogical analysis identified a complex of minerals, including micrometeorites, which amount to 0.6 % of the heavy fraction weight. A detailed study of the micrometeorites was carried out using a JXA8200 electron probe x-ray microanalyzer. It was established that their chemical composition is predominantly represented by Fe, O, C, and Zn, i.e. these are type 1 α-micrometeorites. Based on the difference in the chemical composition of the micrometeorites in the sedimentary strata section, it is proposed to refer to such micrometeorites not only for stratigraphic correlations, but also for impact stratigraphy schemes.

Influence of Gamma-Ray Emission on the Isotopic Composition of Clouds in the Interstellar Medium

We investigate one mechanism of the change in the isotopic composition of cosmologically distant clouds of interstellar gas whose matter was subjected only slightly to star formation processes. According to the standard cosmological model, the isotopic composition of the gas in such clouds was formed at the epoch of Big Bang nucleosynthesis and is determined only by the baryon density in the Universe. The dispersion in the available cloud composition observations exceeds the errors of individual measurements. This may indicate that there are mechanisms of the change in the composition of matter in the Universe after the completion of Big Bang nucleosynthesis. We have calculated the destruction and production rates of light isotopes (D, 3He, 4He) under the influence of photonuclear reactions triggered by the gamma-ray emission from active galactic nuclei (AGNs). We investigate the destruction and production of light elements depending on the spectral characteristics of the gamma-ray emission. We show that in comparison with previous works, taking into account the influence of spectral hardness on the photonuclear reaction rates can increase the characteristic radii of influence of the gamma-ray emission from AGNs by a factor of 2-8. The high gamma-ray luminosities of AGNs observed in recent years increase the previous estimates of the characteristic radii by two orders of magnitude. This may suggest that the influence of the emission from AGNs on the change in the composition of the medium in the immediate neighborhood (the host galaxy) has been underestimated.Comment: 13 pages, 13 figures, 3 table

A New Class of Four-Dimensional N=1 Supergravity with Non-minimal Derivative Couplings

In the N=1 four-dimensional new-minimal supergravity framework, we supersymmetrise the coupling of the scalar kinetic term to the Einstein tensor. This coupling, although introduces a non-minimal derivative interaction of curvature to matter, it does not introduce harmful higher-derivatives. For this construction, we employ off-shell chiral and real linear multiplets. Physical scalars are accommodated in the chiral multiplet whereas curvature resides in a linear one.Comment: 18 pages, version published at JHE
