A separability criterion for density operators
We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a mixed quantum mechanical
state to be separable. The criterion is formulated as a boundedness condition
in terms of the greatest cross norm on the tensor product of trace class

Simultaneous observation of high order multiple quantum coherences at ultralow magnetic fields
We present a method for the simultaneous observation of heteronuclear
multi-quantum coherences (up to the 3rd order), which give an additional degree
of freedom for ultralow magnetic field (ULF) MR experiments, where the chemical
shift is negligible. The nonequilibrium spin state is generated by Signal
Amplification By Reversible Exchange (SABRE) and detected at ULF with
SQUID-based NMR. We compare the results obtained by the heteronuclei Correlated
SpectroscopY (COSY) with a Flip Angle FOurier Series (FAFOS) method. COSY
allows a quantitative analysis of homo- and heteronuclei quantum coherences
Experimental evidence for 56Ni-core breaking from the low-spin structure of the N=Z nucleus 58Cu
Low-spin states in the odd-odd N=Z nucleus 58Cu were investigated with the
58Ni(p,n gamma)58Cu fusion evaporation reaction at the FN-tandem accelerator in
Cologne. Seventeen low spin states below 3.6 MeV and 17 new transitions were
observed. Ten multipole mixing ratios and 17 gamma-branching ratios were
determined for the first time. New detailed spectroscopic information on the
2+,2 state, the Isobaric Analogue State (IAS) of the 2+,1,T=1 state of 58Ni,
makes 58Cu the heaviest odd-odd N=Z nucleus with known B(E2;2+,T=1 --> 0+,T=1)
value. The 4^+ state at 2.751 MeV, observed here for the first time, is
identified as the IAS of the 4+,1,T=1 state in 58Ni. The new data are compared
to full pf-shell model calculations with the novel GXPF1 residual interaction
and to calculations within a pf5/2 configurational space with a residual
surface delta interaction. The role of the 56Ni core excitations for the

Early childhood adversity and adolescent depression: the mediating role of continued stress
Background. While various conceptualizations of the link between childhood adversity and later depression have been offered, most have not accounted for the possibility that early adversity predicts continuing stress proximal to depression onset. Thus, the present study tested the possible mediating role of recent stress in the association between early adversity and depression in late adolescence
High-fidelity single-shot readout for a spin qubit via an enhanced latching mechanism
The readout of semiconductor spin qubits based on spin blockade is fast but
suffers from a small charge signal. Previous work suggested large benefits from
additional charge mapping processes, however uncertainties remain about the
underlying mechanisms and achievable fidelity. In this work, we study the
single-shot fidelity and limiting mechanisms for two variations of an enhanced
latching readout. We achieve average single-shot readout fidelities > 99.3% and
> 99.86% for the conventional and enhanced readout respectively, the latter
being the highest to date for spin blockade. The signal amplitude is enhanced
to a full one-electron signal while preserving the readout speed. Furthermore,
layout constraints are relaxed because the charge sensor signal is no longer
dependent on being aligned with the conventional (2, 0) - (1, 1) charge dipole.
Silicon donor-quantum-dot qubits are used for this study, for which the dipole
insensitivity substantially relaxes donor placement requirements. One of the
readout variations also benefits from a parametric lifetime enhancement by
replacing the spin-relaxation process with a charge-metastable one. This
provides opportunities to further increase the fidelity. The relaxation
mechanisms in the different regimes are investigated. This work demonstrates a
readout that is fast, has one-electron signal and results in higher fidelity.
It further predicts that going beyond 99.9% fidelity in a few microseconds of

Charm Correlation as a Diagnostic Probe of Quark Matter
The use of correlation between two open-charm mesons is suggested to give
information about the nature of the medium created in heavy-ion collisions.
Insensitivity to the charm production rate is achieved by measuring normalized
cumulant. The acollinearity of the D momenta in the transverse plane is a
measure of the medium effect. Its dependence on nuclear size or E_T provides a
signature for the formation of quark matter.Comment: 12 pages, no figure
Algorithms (X,sigma,eta) : quasi-random mutations for Evolution Strategies
International audienceRandomization is an efficient tool for global optimization. We here define a method which keeps : - the order 0 of evolutionary algorithms (no gradient) ; - the stochastic aspect of evolutionary algorithms ; - the efficiency of so-called "low-dispersion" points ; and which ensures under mild assumptions global convergence with linear convergence rate. We use i) sampling on a ball instead of Gaussian sampling (in a way inspired by trust regions), ii) an original rule for step-size adaptation ; iii) quasi-monte-carlo sampling (low dispersion points) instead of Monte-Carlo sampling. We prove in this framework linear convergence rates i) for global optimization and not only local optimization ; ii) under very mild assumptions on the regularity of the function (existence of derivatives is not required). Fluctuations of Spatial Patterns as a Measure of Classical Chaos
In problems where the temporal evolution of a nonlinear system cannot be
followed, a method for studying the fluctuations of spatial patterns has been
developed. That method is applied to well-known problems in deterministic chaos
(the logistic map and the Lorenz model) to check its effectiveness in
characterizing the dynamical behaviors. It is found that the indices
are as useful as the Lyapunov exponents in providing a quantitative measure of
