Background: Previous research has documented a negative association between maternal report of child food neophobia and reported frequency of consumption of fruit, vegetables, and meat. This study aimed to establish whether neophobia is associated with lower intake of these food types in naturalistic mealtime situations. Methods: One hundred and nine parents of 4–5 year olds completed questionnaires which included a six-item version of the Child Food Neophobia Scale (CFNS). The children took part in a series of 3 test lunch meals at weekly intervals at school at which they were presented with: chicken, cheese, bread, cheese crackers, chocolate biscuits, grapes and tomatoes or carrot sticks. Food items served to each child were weighed before and after the meal to assess total intake of items in four categories: Fruit and vegetables, Protein foods, Starchy foods and Snack foods. Pearson Product Moment Correlations and independent t tests were performed to examine associations between scores on the CFNS and consumption during lunches. Results: Neophobia was associated with lower consumption of fruit and vegetables, protein foods and total calories, but there was no association with intake of starch or snack foods. Conclusion: These results support previous research that has suggested that neophobia impacts differentially on consumption of different food types. Specifically it appears that children who score highly on the CFNS eat less fruit, vegetables and protein foods than their less neophobic peers. Attempts to increase intake of fruit, vegetables and protein might usefully incorporate strategies known to reduce the neophobic response

Implikasi Wujud Al-Dzihni Dalam Persepsi Sensual: Kritik Terhadap Empirisisme Dalam Perspektif Wujud Al-Dzihni

This article describes the process of how knowledge is formed and formulated with sensory perception in the form of experience. In Islamic philosophy, sensory experience that generates knowledge has never happened in the absence of mental existence as one of the essential principles of the philosophy of Mulla Sadra. Al- though the sensory perception is not the only one, Sadra considers that acceptable reason as sensory observation is a result of the unity of subject and object. This concept provides a basis for thinking that any form of authenticity from fundamen- tal ideas give meaning to the doctrine of the other. Without that sense, perception will never be materialized. This perception involves the awareness that comes from the soul as an active agent. Rejecting perception means the rejection of the value of knowledge. In Mulla Sadra's argument, the implications of mental concepts in the sensual perception will influence sense objects

This study examines the relationship of financial statement informativeness, firm size, financial performance, risk, growth, leverage with intellectual capital disclosure. The population in this study consists of all non financial and non property companies in Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2015. Total sample in this study is 256 samples of companies while the analysis test used by the writer is a model of multiple regression. The result shows a significant positive relationship between firm size, financial performance, and growth with intellectual capital disclosure. While, financial statement informativeness, risk, and leverage not significantly related with intellectual capital disclosure. This study contributes recent evidence concerning the factors influencing intellectual capital disclosure

Effects of the Affordable Care Act on Part-Time Employment: Early Evidence

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires employers with at least 50 full-time-equivalent employees to offer “affordable” health insurance to employees working 30 or more hours per week. If employers do not comply with the mandate, they may face substantial financial penalties. Employers can potentially circumvent the mandate by reducing weekly hours below the 30-hour threshold or by using other nonstandard employment arrangements (direct-hire temporaries, agency temporaries, small contractors, and independent contractors). We examine the effects of the ACA on short-hours, part-time employment. Using monthly CPS data, we estimate that the ACA resulted in an increase in low-hours, involuntary part-time employment of a half-million to a million workers in retail, accommodations, and food services, the sectors in which employers are most likely to reduce hours if they choose to circumvent the mandate, and also the sectors in which low-wage workers are most likely to be affected. Our empirical strategy uses as a control group Hawaii, which has had a more stringent employer health insurance mandate than that of the ACA for several decades. The findings are robust to placebo tests and alternative specifications

We construct four-dimensional symplectic orbifolds admitting Hamiltonian circle actions with isolated fixed points, but not admitting any Hamiltonian action of a two-torus. One example is linear, and one example is compact
