A Health Needs Assessment of Arab-Americans in the Washington, DC Area

Although Arab-Americans often face various health challenges due to the stress associated with immigration, cultural conflict in the U.S., and limited knowledge of the complex U.S. health system, there is a paucity of research examining health risks and behaviors among this ethnic group. This cross-sectional study assessed the health needs among Arabs living in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Participants were recruited to take the survey online, reporting on health care access and utilization, risk behaviors, and health status. It also measured for associations between reported depression, discrimination, acculturation, and health. Quantitative analysis showed correlations between age and current tobacco use, however no differences between men and women. Depression was significantly correlated with gender, age, and place of birth. Men were more likely to report having diabetes, high cholesterol, and hypertension than women. Results suggest that health promotion programs for Arabs in the DC area may help reduce health risks

We investigate E-cordial labeling for some cartesian product of graphs. We prove that the graphs Kn × P2 and Pn × P2 are E-cordial for n even while Wn × P2 andK1,n × P2 are E-cordial for n odd. Key words: E-Cordial labeling; Edge graceful labeling; Cartesian produc

The fracture is condition associated with injury of bones and joints, in Ayurveda it is termed as "Bhagna". The condition characterizes as break in movements/continuity of bones. There are two types of Bhagna i.e.; Sandhimukta and Kandabhagna, Sandhimukta can be correlated with dislocation while Kandabhagna means bony fracture. The Bhagna may occurs due to the nature of injury like physical trauma, accidents, slip, pressure bearing, excessive movements and bites of animals having hard teeth, etc. The Bhagna mainly occurs at two places Sandhi (joints) and Asandhi (other places except joints). Broadly Ayurveda described twelve types of fractures including Karaktaka, Ashvakarna, Churnita, Pichhita, Asthichhallita, Kandabhagna, Majjanugata, Atipaatita, Vakra, Chinna, Paatita and Sphutita. Ayurveda described many approaches for treating Bhagna such as; Lepana, Bandhana, Parisechana, Pradeha and Sandhi / Bhagna Sthaapana, etc. Present article summarizes various aspects of Bhagna and its Ayurveda management

22q11.2 duplication: A review of neuropsychiatric correlates and a newly observed case of prototypic sociopathy

Callous-unemotional (CU) traits are highly disabling behavioral characteristics, common predictors of delinquency and criminality, and pathognomonic for antisocial personality disorder. They are highly heritable, but their specific molecular genetic causes are unknown. Here, we briefly review the literature on neuropsychiatric correlates of 22q11.2 duplication and describe a newly identified case of a 737-kb microduplication within the low copy repeat (LCR) B-D region, involving a 13-yr-old early adoptee with mild developmental delay and severe, chronic antisocial behavior of early childhood onset. When psychiatric symptoms have been reported in relation to duplications in this specific region, 19% of the reports feature aggression-but never previously CU traits-as a component of the phenotype. We discuss the potential implications of gain of function in this chromosomal region for heritable origins of sociopathy and their possible relation to genetic influences on aggression
