    Studying the effect of manager’s Strategic Thinking on Corporate entrepreneurship

    The purpose of this research is to explore the effect of managers' strategic thinking on corporate entrepreneurship. To this end, one main hypothesis and five secondary hypotheses were proposed. This study is descriptive-applicable and Lidka studies (1998) were employed to measure managers' strategic thinking and Robins and Kutler's questionnaire (1996) was used to measure corporate entrepreneurship. The statistical population included 118 managers and employees of a manufacturing company in Kermanshah industrial estate. The research sample was equal to 90 using Cochran formula.     Satisfying the Direct Laser Acceleration Resonance Condition in a Laser Wakefield Accelerator

    In this proceeding, we show that when the drive laser pulse overlaps the trapped electrons in a laser wakefield accelerator (LWFA), those electrons can gain energy from direct laser acceleration (DLA) over extended distances despite the evolution of both the laser and the wake. Through simulations, the evolution of the properties of both the laser and the electron beam is quantified, and then the resonance condition for DLA is examined in the context of this change. We find that although the electrons produced from the LWFA cannot continuously satisfy the DLA resonance condition, they nevertheless can gain a significant amount of energy from DLA.Comment: 2014 Advanced Accelerator Concepts Worksho

    Positive effect of low dose vitamin D supplementation on growth of fetal bones: A randomized prospective study

    The effect of vitamin D supplementation on growth of fetal bones during pregnancy is unclear. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of low dose vitamin D supplementation during pregnancy on bony anthropometric aspects of the fetus. In this prospective randomized trial, 140 patients were divided into two equally matched groups according to age, 25(OH)D level, exercise, and dietary intake. Then 1000 IU per day vitamin D supplement was given to the intervention group while the control group received placebo. Then crown-rump length (CRL) and femur length (FL) during the first trimester and humerus and femur lengths as well as their proximal metaphyseal diameter (PMD), midshaft diameter (MSD) and distal metaphyseal diameter (DMD) in the second and third trimester were measured using ultrasonography technique. Finally, no significant difference was observed for CRL (p = 0.93). Although FL was not statistically significant in the first trimester (p = 0.54), its measurement in the intervention group and the control group in the second (28.87 ± 2.14 vs. 26.89 ± 2.08; p ≤0.001) and the third (65.31 ± 2.17 vs. 62.85 ± 1.94; p ≤0.001) trimesters was significantly different. Femoral PMD, MSD, and DMD measurement increased more in the intervention group in comparison with the control group with P values <0.05. HL measurement in the intervention group and the control group in the second (28.62 ± 1.94 vs. 27.23 ± 2.08; p ≤0.001) and the third (61.29 ± 2.84 vs. 59.85 ± 1.79; p ≤0.001) trimesters revealed significant differences. Humeral PMD, MSD, and DMD measurement increased in the intervention group in comparison with the control group with P values <0.001 for all. It is suggested to prescribe low dose vitamin D (1000 IU per day) from early pregnancy with possible increment in length and diameter of femur and humerus bones of the fetus

    Prediction of strain values in reinforcements and concrete of a RC frame using neural networks

    The level of strain in structural elements is an important indicator for the presence of damage and its intensity. Considering this fact, often structural health monitoring systems employ strain gauges to measure strains in critical elements. However, because of their sensitivity to the magnetic fields, inadequate long-term durability especially in harsh environments, difficulties in installation on existing structures, and maintenance cost, installation of strain gauges is not always possible for all structural components. Therefore, a reliable method that can accurately estimate strain values in critical structural elements is necessary for damage identification. In this study, a full-scale test was conducted on a planar RC frame to investigate the capability of neural networks for predicting the strain values. Two neural networks each of which having a single hidden layer was trained to relate the measured rotations and vertical displacements of the frame to the strain values measured at different locations of the frame. Results of trained neural networks indicated that they accurately estimated the strain values both in reinforcements and concrete.     Fuzz, Penetration, and AI Testing for SoC Security Verification: Challenges and Solutions

    The ever-increasing usage and application of system-on-chips (SoCs) has resulted in the tremendous modernization of these architectures. For a modern SoC design, with the inclusion of numerous complex and heterogeneous intellectual properties (IPs), and its privacy-preserving declaration, there exists a wide variety of highly sensitive assets. These assets must be protected from any unauthorized access and against a diverse set of attacks. Attacks for obtaining such assets could be accomplished through different sources, including malicious IPs, malicious or vulnerable firmware/software, unreliable and insecure interconnection and communication protocol, and side-channel vulnerabilities through power/performance profiles. Any unauthorized access to such highly sensitive assets may result in either a breach of company secrets for original equipment manufactures (OEM) or identity theft for the end-user. Unlike the enormous advances in functional testing and verification of the SoC architecture, security verification is still on the rise, and little endeavor has been carried out by academia and industry. Unfortunately, there exists a huge gap between the modernization of the SoC architectures and their security verification approaches. With the lack of automated SoC security verification in modern electronic design automation (EDA) tools, we provide a comprehensive overview of the requirements that must be realized as the fundamentals of the SoC security verification process in this paper. By reviewing these requirements, including the creation of a unified language for SoC security verification, the definition of security policies, formulation of the security verification, etc., we put forward a realization of the utilization of self-refinement techniques, such as fuzz, penetration, and AI testing, for security verification purposes. We evaluate all the challenges and resolution possibilities, and we provide the potential approaches for the realization of SoC security verification via these self-refinement techniques

    9 GeV energy gain in a beam-driven plasma wakefield accelerator

    International audienceAn electron beam has gained a maximum energy of 9 GeV per particle in a 1.3 m-long electron beam-driven plasma wakefield accelerator. The amount of charge accelerated in the spectral peak was 28.3 pC, and the root-mean-square energy spread was 5.0%. The mean accelerated charge and energy gain per particle of the 215 shot data set was 115 pC and 5.3 GeV, respectively, corresponding to an acceleration gradient of 4.0 GeV/m at the spectral peak. The mean energy spread of the data set was 5.1%. These results are consistent with the extrapolation of the previously reported energy gain results using a shorter, 36 cm-long plasma source to within 10%, evincing a non-evolving wake structure that can propagate distances of over a meter in length. Wake-loading effects were evident in the data through strong dependencies observed between various spectral properties and the amount of accelerated charge
