    Cross sections of α-induced reactions on natural zirconium were measured up to 50 MeV using the stacked-foil technique, activation method and high resolution γ-ray spectrometry. The production cross sections of 93m,99Mo, 90g,92m,95g,95m,96Nb and 88,89g,95Zr were determined and compared with other experimental data measured earlier and result of theoretical calculations. The integral thick target yield of 99Mo was deduced from the measured cross section data

    An experiment of α-induced reactions on yttrium-89 was performed to investigate the excitation functions of 89Zr and 90Nb, which are suitable for immuno-PET studies. The stacked-foil method, activation technique, and off-line γ-ray spectrometry were used for this investigation. The excitation functions of 92m,91m,89m,89gNb,88Zr, and 90m,88g,87m,87gY were also derived and compared with earlier experimental and the TENDL-2017 data. Good agreements with part of the previous studies were found

    <b>Study methodology:</b> This is a comparative study of intra canal stress patterns in endodontically treated maxillary central incisor with: average sized canal diameter and wide canals reinforced with three different post systems - cast post and core, carbon fiber post, stainless steel post; restored with ceramic crown using finite element analysis (FEA). All the models were subjected to a force of 100N applied at 450 to the long axis of the tooth at the middle third of the palatal surface of the restored ceramic crown. <b>Results:</b> The FEA revealed that all the post systems showed maximum stress in the coronal and middle third of the root. Maximum stress was seen on the inner dentinal wall in case of stainless steel post followed by cast gold and carbon fiber post, both in the models without reinforcement as well as in the reinforced models

    Reg IV is a serum biomarker for gastric cancer patients and predicts response to 5-fluorouracil-based chemotherapy

    Regenerating gene family, member 4 (Reg IV), a secreted protein, is overexpressed in several cancers, including gastric cancer (GC). In the present study, we measured Reg IV levels in sera from patients with GC by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. We also examined the effect of forced Reg IV expression on the apoptotic susceptibility to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). Forced expression of Reg IV inhibited 5-FU-induced apoptosis. Induction of Bcl-2 and dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase was involved in inhibition of apoptosis. Among 36 GC patients treated with a combination chemotherapy of low-dose 5-FU and cisplatin, all 14 Reg IV-positive patients showed no change or disease progression. The serum Reg IV concentration was similar between healthy individuals (mean±s.e., 0.52±0.05 ng/ml) and patients with chronic-active gastritis (0.36±0.09 ng/ml). However, the serum Reg IV concentration in presurgical GC patients was significantly elevated (1.96±0.17 ng/ml), even at stage I. The diagnostic sensitivity of serum Reg IV (36.1%) was superior to that of serum carcinoembryonic antigen (11.5%) or carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (13.1%). These results indicate that expression of Reg IV is a marker for prediction of resistance to 5-FU-based chemotherapy in patients with GC. Serum Reg IV represents a novel biomarker for GC
