Bloodbath Posed by Husband - a Case Report
Background: The corpse of a newly married woman was brought for the postmortem examination. It was having multiple stabs over the neck and chest. Incised wounds were there over the chest and both wrists, cutting the radial artery of either side. Total numbers of injuries were 107, comprising few injuries of post mortem nature.Case Report: The case report highlighted the challenges for an autopsy surgeon in extricating, noting and describing such an exhaustive number of injuries with its corresponding internal injuries. Collecting and preserving the pertinent evidences out of the corpse would be the next challenge. Further, spotting out discrepancy with the number of injuries of an inquest report will remain as an additional task. Subsequently an autopsy surgeon also has to face griming questions in the Court of Law, as an expert witness.Conclusion: This case report described the history in detail and explicated all the eventual solutions for autopsy surgeon.
Pangs of Proximity: Politico-Constitutional Crisis in Sri Lanka and its Implications on India-Sri Lanka Relations
The National Unity Government, formed by the traditional rivals UNP and SLFP, was a good example of „cohabitation‟. However, things started falling apart in due course due to new political realignments. It reached a stage where President Sirisena joined hands with the previous President Rajapaksa to oust Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe resulting in about a two-month-long politico-constitutional crisis. With judicial intervention, the crisis got over, but not permanently; the polity looks polarised. The crisis has wide-ranging implications, both at domestic and international levels, especially for India-Sri Lanka relations. Unprecedented political situation that has arisen in Sri Lanka has at least two broad implications on India-Sri Lanka relations: the state of Indian infrastructure projects in Sri Lanka and the ethnic issue in the island nation. PHYTOCHEMICAL AND PHARMACOLOGICAL PROFILE OF BIOPHYTUM SENSITIVUM (L) DC
Biophytum sensitivum (L.) DC (Family: Oxalidaceae) is a medicinal plant widely used in the treatment of various health aliments throughout the world. The plant extract showed the presence of flavonoids, saponins, tannins, terpenes, steroids, amino acids, essential oil, polysaccharides and pectin. The plant has been extensively studied by various researchers for its biological activities and therapeutic potentials such as analgesic, anti-pyretic, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antitumor, antidiabetic, antioxidant, antibacterial, antihypertensive, chemoprotective, radioprotective and antifertility. The present review is an effort to provide detailed information on folkloric uses, chemical compositions, pharmacological activities of the extracts and isolated compounds and safety profile of Biophytum sensitivum for further research studies
Estimation of small ion concentration near the Earth's surface
Atmospheric ions produced by radon gas exhalation from the Earth's surface can play a vital role in the electrification of atmosphere, especially during nights when the gases are trapped in a stable layer close to the surface. The measurements of concentration of radon and its progeny, air conductivity and aerosol size distribution made at Pune, India, have been analyzed. The concentrations of radon and its progeny show maxima during night and early morning hours, between 0500 and 0700. IST when atmosphere is more stable and mixing is low and start decreasing after sunrise and attain minima during 1000-1800. h when air is unstable. The diurnal variation of the ionization rate, calculated using the concentrations of radon and its progeny, follows the variations of concentrations of radon and its progeny. The ion-aerosol balance equations are solved to study the effect of aerosols on small ion concentration in the lower atmosphere. It has been found that during daytime when aerosol concentration is high, 20-30 reduction in small ion concentration can occur due to aerosols. The small ion concentration estimated using measured air conductivity is compared with small ion concentration estimated by solving ion-aerosol balance equations and both are found to be in good agreement with each other. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd

Cage aquaculture requires suitable site, materials to fabricate cage, nutritionally
balance feed and healthy seed. The cage farm depending upon intensification generates the
considerable wastes which include uneaten food, excretory products (faecal matter and
urinary products). Many cage aquaculture activities utilize chemicals for prophylactic as well
as therapeutic purpose which further contributes to the total waste discharge. Further,
microorganisms and parasites associated with caged fish also contribute towards cumulative
environmental degradation
Effect of Heat Stress on Milk Production and Composition in Murrah Buffaloes
Temperature humidity index (THI) is widely used to assess the effect of temperature and relative humidity on performance in animals. In summer the THI was between 74 - 89 with average value of 81.18. in winter months THI ranged between 49 -70 with the average of 60. The results showed a significant effect of heat stress on daily milk yield and milk composition. In the present study the daily milk yield decreases from 4.46 to 3.65kg, heat stress reduced milk yield by 18.2%. There was a significant effect of heat stress on milk composition. Heat stress significantly reduced milk fat content from 8.3% during the winter to 7.19% during the summer. Milk protein percentage significantly decreased as a result of summer heat stress (3.08 vs.2.9 %, respectively for the winter and summer). In the present study the SNF decreases from 9.08 to 9.05 %, heat stress reduced SNF % as the THI value went from > 74 to 83 in summer. Results showed that milk production is a function of THI. The negative slope of regression line indicates that milk production fat%, protein% and SNF% decreases as THI increases. This regression indicates that in general for each point increase in THI value. There was decrease in milk yield of 0.028kg per buffalo per day. Heat stress environments have been associated with depression in milk fat%, protein% and SNF%. There was decrease in milk fat of 0.046% per buffalo per day.
