We study three special Dirichlet series, two of them alternating, related to the Riemann zeta function. These series are shown to have extensions to the entire complex plane and we find their values at the negative integers (or residues at poles). Perancangan Sistem Kendali Jarak Jauh Lego Nxt Robo Laptop Via Bluetooth

Teknologi robot saat ini berkembang dengan sangat pesat dan tidak dapat dipungkiri dan telah lama dijadikan salah satu icon kebanggan negara maju. Gedung-gedung pencakar langit, kota-kota yang modern, terasa belum lengkap tanpa adanya kecanggihan di dunia robot. Kata robot berasal dari bahasa Czech yang berarti pekerja atau buruh, dimana sangat erat kaitannya dengan otomasi, militer dan robot industri. Otomasi merupakan teknologi yang berlandaskan pada aplikasi sistem mekanik, elektronik dan program. Robot militer merupakan komponen alternatif dalam teknologi otomasi yang dapat berfungsi sebagai prajurit yang bekerja tanpa lelah. Robot biasanya diciptakan untuk menggantikan posisi-posisi prajurit dengan keahlian rendah dan bahkan hingga tenaga professional. Dengan adanya robot yang bisa menggantikan prajurit di dalam medan berbahaya, ini akan sangat membantu manusia dalam mencegah potensi timbulnya korban jiwa. Salah satu penerapan robot yang sudah ada yaitu robot penjinak bom. Robot ini dapat dikendalikan pada jarak tertentu sehingga dapat menggantikan tugas seorang prajurit dalam menganalisis dan menjinakkan bom, sehingga mengurangi kemungkinan terjadinya cedera ataupun korban jiwa jika terjadi kesalahan dan bom meledak. Berdasarkan paparan diatas, pada penelitian kali ini penulis tertarik membuat sebuah penelitian berjudul “Perancangan Sistem Kendali Jarak Jauh Lego NXT Robo Laptop Via Bluetooth”. Pada penelitian ini dilakuakan dengan menggunakan proses SDLC, namun hanya dilakukan samapai tahap analisis dan desan saja. Perancangan dilakukan mulai dari tahap analisis perangkat lunak sampai dengan analisis perangkat keras (dalam hal ini lebih difokuskan pada mekanik daripada robot). Model fungsional dari perangkat lunak sistem pengendali NXT robo laptop digambarkan dengan menggunakan use case diagram dan activity diagram. Rancangan mekanik perangkat keras adalah rancangan dan susunan komponenkomponen dari Lego Mindstorm NXT yang akan dirakit menjadi rangkaian mekanik perangkat keras robot penulis karakter. Perangkat keras yang akan dibangun menggunakan 2 servo motor dan sebuah NXT Brick

Kinetic theory of electromagnetic ion waves in relativistic plasmas

A kinetic theory for electromagnetic ion waves in a cold relativistic plasma is derived. The kinetic equation for the broadband electromagnetic ion waves is coupled to the slow density response via an acoustic equation driven by ponderomotive force like term linear in the electromagnetic field amplitude. The modulational instability growth rate is derived for an arbitrary spectrum of waves. Analysis of gastrointestinal drugs in patients admitted in CCU and ICCU of a tertiary care hospital in Goa, India

Background: Gastrointestinal (GI) diseases are a common problem worldwide. They are frequently encountered in non-critical as well as in critically ill hospitalized patients.Methods: This was a prospective and observational study conducted on patients admitted in CCU and ICCU of Goa Medical College and Hospital. Data was collected from the patients’ case records and was analysed referring to WHO prescribing indicators. Data was represented as Mean±SD, number and frequency.Results: A total of 2250 drugs were prescribed, out of which 376 (16.71%) were gastrointestinal drugs. Most common route of administration was oral 323 (85.90%). Prescription patterns of GI drugs were:  275 (73.14%) from National List of Essential Medicines, 20 (5.31%) as fixed dose combinations and 4 (1.06%) by generic names. Pantoprazole 183 (48.67%) was the most frequently prescribed drug for peptic ulcer in present study.Conclusions: From the findings of this study we noted that among the GI drugs used, those for peptic ulcer were the most commonly prescribed. Also majority were from the essential drug list. But prescribing by generic names was low. Review of drug utilization trends is a necessary aid to formulate and modify existing protocols and guidelines to improve treatment outcomes in a given setting

Seminal role of clouds on solar dimming over the Indian monsoon region

In contrast to most of the world where solar dimming has changed over to solar brightening since late eighties, dimming continues unabated over the Indian region. This study investigates new insight into the origin of dimming over India. As the insolation at the surface is controlled by aerosols and clouds, we tried to separate out the two controlling factors by examining clear and cloudy sky days. From 1981-2006, the rate of dimming is found to be twice as large during cloudy conditions (~12 W/m2/decade) compared to that during clear sky conditions (~6 W/m2/decade). The clear sky dimming is attributed to increasing aerosols. While the rate of dimming by clouds is similar during summer and winter monsoon seasons, the increased contribution to dimming by clouds during summer seems to come from increasingly deeper clouds covering increasingly larger area. During winter, dimming in cloudy conditions appears to be due to indirect effect of aerosols

Critical analysis of drug promotional literature available to the medical practitioners

Background: To ascertain whether the pharmaceutical companies are following the WHO criteria for “Ethical medicinal drug promotion 1988” and “OPPI Code of pharmaceutical marketing practices, 2012” and to what extent. Also, to evaluate the therapeutic claims made by them in their drug promotional literature and other aspects.Methods: Drug Promotional Literature (DPL) from different pharmaceutical companies was collected from various Medical practitioners and analysed to see if they achieved objectives. Therapeutic claims made by them were classified as authentic, exaggerated, controversial, false, and misinterpreted.Results: Total 250 DPLs were collected and critically analysed for information content. Out of the 11 WHO criteria for ethical medicinal drug promotion (1988), Majority (30%)  followed only 54.54% of the criteria while only 4% followed 100% of the criteria. The total number of claims in the 250 DPL were 354 of which 52.8% were authentic and 47.2% were misleading. From the misleading claims: 28.7% were exaggerated, 34.7% were controversial, 22.8% were false, 23% were ambiguous.Conclusions: This study enabled us to find out to what extent the pharmaceutical industries follow the standard criteria for DPL and evaluate the claims made by them. DPL is one of the important sources of drug information. Some of the pharmaceutical companies failed to follow the WHO criteria while advertising their products in order to make them look more lucrative having an underlying commercial motive. As they influence prescribing patterns of the clinicians, misleading promotional literature would result in irrational prescribing of drugs. To avoid this, DPL has to be critically evaluated

Performance Analysis of Adaptive Filter Channel Estimated MIMO OFDM Communication System

Advanced Communication Systems are wideband systems to support multiple applications such as audio, video and data so and so forth. These systems require high spectral efficiency and data rates. In addition, they should provide multipath fading and inter-symbol interference (ISI) free transmission. Multiple input multiple output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO OFDM) meets these requirements Hence, MIMO-OFDM is the most preferable technique for long term evaluation advanced (LTE-A). The primary objective of this paper is to control bit error rate (BER) by proper channel coding, pilot carriers, adaptive filter channel estimation schemes and space time coding (STC). A combination of any of these schemes results in better BER performance over individual schemes. System performance is analyzed for various digital modulation schemes. In this paper,adaptive filter channel estimated MIMO OFDM system is proposed by integrating channel coding, adaptivefilter channel estimation, digital modulation and space time coding. From the simulation results, channel estimated 2×2 MIMO OFDM system shows superior performance over individual schemes
