    EFFECT OF Salsola vermiculata

    Get PDF
Algerian aride zone is rich with medicinal plant, Salsola vermiculata is one of the mosttraditional plant remedies in Bechar region. in this work, we tried to test the inhibitory effect on eight storage soft wheat fungi of various extracts of Salsola vermiculata in vitro and vivo by using grain storage by the coating method. The phytochemical screening of plants showed the detection of tannins, saponisides and flavonoids. The results show a remarkable antifungal effect by most of the extracts tested. The  decrease in the level of fungi observed in wheat samples demonstrates the effectiveness of grain storage by the coating method. Keywords: Salsola vermiculata; Antifungal activity; Coating method; Fungi; soft wheat;Storage

On numerical modeling of couple heat, air and moisture transfer through multilayered walls

This paper reports on numerical modeling of heat, air, and moisture transfer through multilayered walls. Building materials are often subjected to temporal climatic variations, which can induce a transfer of heat and moisture through the walls of the building and the foundation soil. These materials are generally considered as porous media. The coupled heat, air and moisture transfer in building materials is of paramount importance in the construction area. In this way, a mathematical model has been elaborated and validated using a benchmark example. Here, we aim to determine the energy losses. The capillary pressure is considered as potential moisture which represents both the transport of vapor and liquid phases of the water. Basing on basic functions of partial differential equations, one can convert certain measurable properties of porous media as coefficients depending on the temperature and the capillary pressure. The results obtained compare favorably with other available in the literature

G protein-coupled oestrogen receptor 1, oestrogen receptors and androgen receptor in the sand rat (Psammomys obesus) efferent ducts

Background: The efferent ducts are mainly involved in the reabsorption of the seminiferous tubular fluid. Testosterone and oestrogens regulate efferent ducts functions via their receptors.Materials and methods: This paper presents an experimental investigation on the location of the P450 aromatase, the 17-b oestradiol (E2), the androgen receptor (AR), the oestrogen receptor 1 (ESR1), the oestrogen receptor 2 (ESR2) and the G protein-coupled oestrogen receptor 1 (GPER1) in the efferent ducts using Psammomys obesus as an animal model to highlight the effect of the season on the histology and the distribution of these receptors. Results: We observed a proliferation of the connective tissue, decreasing in the height of the epithelium during the resting season compared to the breeding season. Ciliated cells expressed P450 aromatase, AR, E2, ESR1, ESR2 and GPER1 during both seasons. Basal cells showed a positive staining for the ESR1 and the GPER1 during both season, the AR and E2 during the breeding season and ESR2 during the resting season. Conclusions: Our result shows that the expression of androgen receptor and oestrogen receptors in the efferent ducts vary by season witch suggest that they are largely involved in the regulation of the efferent ducts functions

Modelling Temperature Variation of Mushroom Growing Hall Using Artificial Neural Networks

The recent developments of computer and electronic systems have made the use of intelligent systems for the automation of agricultural industries. In this study, the temperature variation of the mushroom growing room was modeled by multi-layered perceptron and radial basis function networks based on independent parameters including ambient temperature, water temperature, fresh air and circulation air dampers, and water tap. According to the obtained results from the networks, the best network for MLP was in the second repetition with 12 neurons in the hidden layer and in 20 neurons in the hidden layer for radial basis function network. The obtained results from comparative parameters for two networks showed the highest correlation coefficient (0.966), the lowest root mean square error (RMSE) (0.787) and the lowest mean absolute error (MAE) (0.02746) for radial basis function. Therefore, the neural network with radial basis function was selected as a predictor of the behavior of the system for the temperature of mushroom growing halls controlling system

Process simulator and environmental assessment of the innovative WEEE treatment process

    No full text
International audienceThe Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is one of the fastest growing residual materials as a result of huge production of the Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE), its market expansion and technological progress in its conception. The complex compositions of WEEE (precious, strategic and rare elements, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, hazardous substances...) and its often miniature design lead to the technical and environmental difficulties to propose an efficient and viable flow-sheet for WEEE treatment and for the recovery process. In this context, this study deals with delivering a predictive simulation tool (simulator) for the WEEE physical treatment (size reduction and sorting) useful for coherent matter balance calculation. Calculated material flows are then available for further environmental assessment. The simulator approach is based on combining the flow-sheets, the phase model, the mathematical models and a set of algorithms to get a representation of a given situation in terms of material flows circulating between processes. Data optimization and assessment of the simulator output led to the establishment of an enhanced and innovative process for the WEEE processing.Further, this study provides a methodology to assess the impact of the implementation of a WEEE recycling technology that takes into account economic, social and environmental consequences. Results linked to the chosen examples for aluminum and ABS plastic recycling from WEEE by the established process and their use instead of virgin products showed an important profit for these recycled materials from economic and environmental points of view. In this paper, a developed REWARD process was simulated by using a tool based on the USIMPAC (TM) software architecture
