Global monopole as dual-vacuum solution in Kaluza-Klein spacetime
By application of the duality transformation, which implies interchange of
active and passive electric parts of the Riemann curvature (equivalent to
interchange of Ricci and Einstein tensors) it is shown that the global monopole
solution in the Kaluza-Klein spacetime is dual to the corresponding vacuum
solution. Further we also obtain solution dual to flat space which would in
general describe a massive global monopole in 4-dimensional Euclidean space and
would have massless limit analogus to the 4-dimensional dual-flat solution.Comment: 8 pages, LaTEX versio
Communication outcomes following cochlear implantation in a child with cystic cochleovestibular anomaly
AbstractCochlear implantation is one of the best amongst the various management options available for children and adults with severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss. Inner ear and internal auditory canal (IAC) malformations accounts to approximately 25% of congenital sensorineural hearing loss in children. The primary goal of this report was to evaluate the communication outcomes after cochlear implantation in a child with cystic cochleovestibular anomaly (CCVA). The child was evaluated through various standardized outcome measures at regular intervals to track the progress in terms of auditory and spoken language skills. The scores on Categories of Auditory Perception (CAP), Meaningful Auditory Integration Scale (MAIS), Speech Intelligibility Rating (SIR), Meaningful Use of Speech Scale (MUSS), and listening and spoken language skills showed a significant leap in 12 months duration post implantation. The report thus highlights and correlates the significant progress in auditory and spoken language skills of the child with congenital malformations to appropriate auditory rehabilitation and intensive parental training
Detection of Sugar-Lectin Interactions by Multivalent Dendritic Sugar Functionalized Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes
We show that single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) decorated with sugar
functionalized poly (propyl ether imine) (PETIM) dendrimer is a very sensitive
platform to quantitatively detect carbohydrate recognizing proteins, namely,
lectins. The changes in electrical conductivity of SWNT in field effect
transistor device due to carbohydrate - protein interactions form the basis of
present study. The mannose sugar attached PETIM dendrimers undergo charge -
transfer interactions with the SWNT. The changes in the conductance of the
dendritic sugar functionalized SWNT after addition of lectins in varying
concentrations were found to follow the Langmuir type isotherm, giving the
concanavalin A (Con A) - mannose affinity constant to be 8.5 x 106 M-1. The
increase in the device conductance observed after adding 10 nM of Con A is same
as after adding 20 \muM of a non - specific lectin peanut agglutinin, showing
the high specificity of the Con A - mannose interactions. The specificity of
sugar-lectin interactions was characterized further by observing significant
shifts in Raman modes of the SWNT.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figure
Effect of age of plantation on seed characters and growth performance of Tokopatta (Livistona jinkensiana Griff.) seedling
Tokopatta palm (Livistona jinkensiana) is a valuable non timber multiple end uses forest species of Arunachal Pradesh. In order to establish improved plantation, the production of quality seedling of this species is essential. The present study was undertaken to determine tree age effects on seed characters, seed germination and performance of seedlings. The 500 seeds sample from each plantations aged 18, 25, 35, 45, 54, 63 and 74 years old around Pasighat town under East Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh, India were taken to see the effect of tree ageon seed morphological characters, seed germination and seedling performance. Significant variation was observed for seed diameter and seed weight between plantations of different ages. The age effect was also seen in the germination patterns with middle aged plantations producing most superior seeds in terms of seed morphological parameters and germination behavior. Seedling attributes after 12 months showed that seedling obtained from young and middle aged plantations (between 18 to 45 years) performed better than those beyond 50 years
A Survey on Graph Database Management Techniques for Huge Unstructured Data
Data analysis, data management, and big data play a major role in both social and business perspective, in the last decade. Nowadays, the graph database is the hottest and trending research topic. A graph database is preferred to deal with the dynamic and complex relationships in connected data and offer better results. Every data element is represented as a node. For example, in social media site, a person is represented as a node, and its properties name, age, likes, and dislikes, etc and the nodes are connected with the relationships via edges. Use of graph database is expected to be beneficial in business, and social networking sites that generate huge unstructured data as that Big Data requires proper and efficient computational techniques to handle with. This paper reviews the existing graph data computational techniques and the research work, to offer the future research line up in graph database management
Electromagnetic duality in general relativity
By resolving the Riemann curvature relative to a unit timelike vector into
electric and magnetic parts, we consider duality relations analogous to the
electromagnetic theory. It turns out that the duality symmetry of the Einstein
action implies the Einstein vacuum equation without the cosmological term. The
vacuum equation is invariant under interchange of active and passive electric
parts giving rise to the same vacuum solutions but the gravitational constant
changes sign. Further by modifying the equation it is possible to construct
interesting dual solutions to vacuum as well as to flat spacetimes.Comment: 18 pages, LaTEX versio
A duality relation for fluid spacetime
We consider the electromagnetic resolution of gravitational field. We show
that under the duality transformation, in which active and passive electric
parts of the Riemann curvature are interchanged, a fluid spacetime in comoving
coordinates remains invariant in its character with density and pressure
transforming, while energy flux and anisotropic pressure remaining unaltered.
Further if fluid admits a barotropic equation of state,
where , which will transform to . Clearly the stiff fluid and dust are dual to each-other
while , will go to flat spacetime. However the n and the deSitter ) universes ar e self-dual.Comment: 5 pages, LaTeX version, Accepted in Classical Quantum Gravity as a

Singularity: Raychaudhuri Equation once again
I first recount Raychaudhuri's deep involvement with the singularity problem
in general relativity. I then argue that precisely the same situation has
arisen today in loop quantum cosmology as obtained when Raychaudhuri discovered
his celebrated equation. We thus need a new analogue of the Raychaudhuri
equation in quantum gravity.Comment: 11 pages, Contribution to Special issue of Pramana on Raychaudhuri

Identification of Pearl Millet blast resistant source against different pathotypes
Pearl Millet leaf blast caused by Pyricularia grisea (teleomorph: Magnaporthe grisea), is one of the most important diseases of pearl millet in India. The disease can be best managed by breeding blast resistant hybrid cultivars. For identification of resistance in the elite hybrid parent lines, designated B-Lines and R-lines (200 each) were screened under greenhouse conditions against six diverse pathotype-isolates of M.Grisea
