LongITools:Dynamic longitudinal exposome trajectories in cardiovascular and metabolic noncommunicable diseases

    Get PDF
The current epidemics of cardiovascular and metabolic noncommunicable diseases have emerged alongside dramatic modifications in lifestyle and living environments. These correspond to changes in our "modern" postwar societies globally characterized by rural-to-urban migration, modernization of agricultural practices, and transportation, climate change, and aging. Evidence suggests that these changes are related to each other, although the social and biological mechanisms as well as their interactions have yet to be uncovered. LongITools, as one of the 9 projects included in the European Human Exposome Network, will tackle this environmental health equation linking multidimensional environmental exposures to the occurrence of cardiovascular and metabolic noncommunicable diseases

Työ käsittelee avustajien rekrytoimista ja siihen liittyviä hankaluuksia suomalaisissa elokuva- ja televisiotuotannoissa. Pohjana kokemukset toisen apulaisohjaajan työstä Uudisraivaaja-sarjassa. Työ selvittää, ovatko hankaluudet yleisiä suomalaisissa tuotannoissa ja mitkä ovat syyt avustajia varten annettujen resurssien vähäisyyteen

Disturbed metabolic pathways of air pollution-mediated mechanisms of cardiovascular disease and dietary opportunities: a scoping review

    No full text
Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of death globally. Ambient particulate matter is one form of air pollution that was determined to contribute substantially to CVD burden. Diet is implicated in over 50% of all CVD-related deaths, with improvements in diet quality associated with decreased risk of CVD. Mechanisms that diet can target in the reduction of CVD risk overlap with mechanisms of air pollution-mediated CVD. Despite this, the interaction between diet and air pollution and the effect on human health is a novel concept. Metabolomics provides a metabolic profile that reflects genetic and environmental interactions. This profile accounts for intrinsic variability by measuring downstream metabolites. Through this, it can help elucidate the molecular mechanisms through which air pollution may affect CVD risk and be used as a basis to identify dietary interventions to improve health. A scoping review will be conducted to identify metabolites and pathways implicated in air pollution-mediated CVD and will adhere to PRISMA-ScR guidelines. PubMed and SCOPUS will be the databases searched to retrieve relevant human studies. Grey literature will be searched through Google Scholar and OpenGrey. Data will be charted via descriptive summary of the results and research gaps identified
