On the Pricing of Performance Sensitive Debt

    Get PDF
Performance sensitive debt (PSD) contracts link a loan's interest rate to a measure of the borrower's credit relevant performance, e.g., if the borrower becomes less credit worthy, the interest rate increases according to a predetermined schedule. We derive and empirically test a pricing model for PSD contracts and find that interest increasing contracts are priced reflecting a substantial risk of shocks to borrower credit quality. Borrowers using such contracts are of an overall higher credit quality compared to borrowers using interest decreasing contracts. These contracts are priced as if no risk of shocks to borrower credit quality is present.Performance sensitive debt; cash flow ratios; credit ratings

Comparison in the Effectiveness of MAT in Patients with Oxycodone vs Heroin Opioid Use Disorders

The purpose of this research and systematic literature review is to determine if there is a measurable difference of effectiveness in medication assisted treatment (MAT) in patients with oxycodone and heroin use disorders, retention in treatment, and sustained sobriety. In this review, the databases searched included CINAHL, Clinical Key, and Embase. A variety of key terms and MeSH terms were used to define a set of literature discussing the topic. The works chosen for review were published between 2015 and 2019 were peer reviewed, and included randomized control trials, pilot studies, and systematic reviews. Sources that were excluded, included those published prior to the year 2015, had poor study design or no useful statistical data. For this review, 16 resources were selected. Much of the research presented show proven evidence of the efficacy and usefulness in MAT for the treatment of opioid use disorder. However, much of the research does not seem to directly compare the statistical difference in effectiveness of MAT for oxycodone and heroin use disorders, rather they are both put together in one group. The differences become apparent when adjunctive therapies are added. These therapies include; inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, the type of medication being used, and the addition of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Consequently, more research is still needed to be done in order to definitively determine if MAT is more effective for treating oxycodone use disorder or heroin use disorder

MAT Effectiveness for Oxycodone vs Heroin in Opioid Use Disorders

Opioid use disorder is a major epidemic in the United States. • Rural areas suffer the most with limited resources available for treatments options. • A limited number of providers participate in MAT programs due to a negative stigma. • Project Echo was developed to spread awareness and information about MAT to educate providers and healthcare facilities about the needs of opioid use disorder patients that are not being met. • Buprenorphine, naltrexone, and methadone are the FDA approved medications to assist in MAT. • Medication assisted treatment is a long-term commitment to successfully maintain sobriety. • Medication alone is not a reliable means of achieving nor maintaining sobriety. • Cognitive behavioral therapy has proven to be a key factor in battling opioid use disorder (OUD).https://commons.und.edu/pas-grad-posters/1227/thumbnail.jp

The prevention of injuries in contact flag football

    Get PDF
American flag football is a non-tackle, contact sport with many moderate to severe contact-type injuries reported. A previous prospective injury surveillance study by the authors revealed a high incidence of injuries to the fingers, face, knee, shoulder and ankle. The objectives of the study were to conduct a pilot-prospective injury prevention study in an attempt to significantly reduce the incidence and the severity of injuries as compared to a historical cohort, as well as to provide recommendations for a future prospective injury prevention study. A prospective injury prevention study was conducted involving 724 amateur male (mean age: 20.0 +/- A 3.1 years) and 114 female (mean age: 21.2 +/- A 7.2 years) players. Four prevention measures were implemented: the no-pocket rule, self-fitting mouth guards, ankle braces (for those players with recurrent ankle sprains) and an injury treatment information brochure. An injury surveillance questionnaire was administered to record all time-loss injuries sustained in game sessions. There was a statistically significant reduction in the number of injured players, the number of finger/hand injuries, the incidence rate and the incidence proportion between the two cohorts (p < 0.05). This one-season pilot prevention study has provided preliminary evidence that finger/hand injuries can be significantly reduced in flag football. Prevention strategies for a longer, prospective, randomised-controlled injury prevention study should include the strict enforcement of the no-pocket rule, appropriate head gear, the use of comfortable-fitting ankle braces and mouth guards, and changing the blocking rules of the game
