    Get PDF
We describe {\it ab initio} calculations of doubly strange, S=2S=-2, ss-shell hypernuclei (ΛΛ4^4_{\Lambda\Lambda}H, ΛΛ5^5_{\Lambda\Lambda}H, ΛΛ5^5_{\Lambda\Lambda}He and ΛΛ6^6_{\Lambda\Lambda}He) as a first attempt to explore the few-body problem of the {\it full}-coupled channel scheme for these systems. The wave function includes ΛΛ\Lambda\Lambda, ΛΣ\Lambda\Sigma, NΞN\Xi and ΣΣ\Sigma\Sigma channels. Minnesota NNNN, D2^\prime YNYN, and simulated YYYY potentials based on the Nijmegen hard-core model, are used. Bound state solutions of these systems are obtained. We find that a set of phenomenological B8B8B_8B_8 interactions among the octet baryons in S=0,1S=0, -1 and -2 sectors, which is consistent with all of the available experimental binding energies of S=0,1S=0, -1 and -2 ss-shell (hyper-)nuclei, can predict a particle stable bound state of ΛΛ4^4_{\Lambda\Lambda}H. For ΛΛ5^5_{\Lambda\Lambda}H and ΛΛ5^5_{\Lambda\Lambda}He, ΛNΣN\Lambda N-\Sigma N and ΞNΛΣ\Xi N-\Lambda\Sigma potentials enhance the net ΛΛNΞ\Lambda\Lambda-N\Xi coupling, and a large Ξ\Xi probability is obtained even for a weaker ΛΛNΞ\Lambda\Lambda-N\Xi potential.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur

Content Analysis of The Diagrammatic Representations of Primary Science Textbooks

    Get PDF
Science education research emphasizes the irreplaceable value of textbooks in students’ acquisition of scientific knowledge. Illustrations such as diagrams contained in science books are crucial modes of visual representations that facilitate learners’ conceptual learning. Through classifying, coding, and analysing diagrams from twenty science textbooks and workbooks used by Bahrain primary science curriculum, the aim of the study is to find out the distributional pattern and illustration characters of different diagrammatic types in the Bahrain’s primary science books. Descriptive statistical analysis was carried out. A one-way ANOVA test was performed to check if there are any distributional differences between textbook and workbook categories. Findings of the study summarized the characteristics of diagrammatic usage in the Bahrain primary science books. The textbook analysis method used in the research also provided some insights for researchers interested in analysing the usage of diagrams and other illustrations in science learning contexts

Feasibility of extracting a Σ\Sigma^- admixture probability in the neutron-rich Λ10^{10}_{\Lambda}Li hypernucleus

We examine theoretically production of the neutron-rich Λ10^{10}_{\Lambda}Li hypernucleus by a double-charge exchange (π\pi^-, K+K^+) reaction on a 10^{10}B target with distorted-wave impulse approximation calculations. The result shows that the magnitude and shape of the calculated spectrum at 1.20 GeV/c by a one-step mechanism πpK+Σ\pi^-p \to K^+ \Sigma^- via Σ\Sigma^- doorways caused by a ΣpΛn\Sigma^-p \leftrightarrow \Lambda n coupling can explain the recent experimental data, and the Σ\Sigma^- admixture probability in Λ10^{10}_{\Lambda}Li is found to be the order of 101^{-1} %. The (π\pi^-, K+K^+) reaction provides a capability of extracting properties of wave functions with Λ\Lambda-Σ\Sigma coupling effects in neutron-rich nuclei, together with the reaction mechanism.Comment: 13 pages, 3 figure

Lambda Lambda-XiN Coupling Effects in Light Hypernuclei

The significance of ΛΛ\Lambda\Lambda-Ξ\XiN coupling in double-Λ\Lambda hypernuclei has been studied. The Pauli suppression effect due to this coupling in ΛΛ6^6_{\Lambda\Lambda}He has been found to be 0.43 MeV for the coupling strength of the NSC97e potential. This indicates that the free-space ΛΛ\Lambda\Lambda interaction is stronger by about 55^{\circ} phase shift than that deduced from the empirical data of ΛΛ6^6_{\Lambda\Lambda}He without including the Pauli suppression effect. In ΛΛ5^5_{\Lambda\Lambda}He and ΛΛ5^5_{\Lambda\Lambda}H, an attractive term arising from ΛΛ\Lambda\Lambda-Ξ\XiN conversion is enhanced by the formation of an alpha particle in intermediate Ξ\Xi states. According to this enhancement, we have found that the ΛΛ\Lambda\Lambda binding energy (ΔBΛΛ\Delta B_{\Lambda\Lambda}) of ΛΛ5^5_{\Lambda\Lambda}He is about 0.27 MeV larger than that of ΛΛ6^6_{\Lambda\Lambda}He for the NSC97e coupling strength. This finding deviates from a general picture that the heavier is the core nucleus, the larger is ΔBΛΛ\Delta B_{\Lambda\Lambda}.Comment: 16 pages with 2 figure

ΛΛ\Lambda\Lambda-ΞN\Xi N-ΣΣ\Sigma\Sigma coupling in ΛΛ 6^{~6}_{\Lambda\Lambda}He with the Nijmegen soft-core potentials

The ΛΛ\Lambda\Lambda-ΞN\Xi N-ΣΣ\Sigma\Sigma coupling in ΛΛ 6^{~6}_{\Lambda\Lambda}He is studied with the [α\alpha + Λ\Lambda + Λ\Lambda] + [α\alpha + Ξ\Xi + NN] + [α\alpha + Σ\Sigma + Σ\Sigma] model, where the α\alpha particle is assumed as a frozen core. We use the Nijmegen soft-core potentials, NSC97e and NSC97f, for the valence baryon-baryon part, and the phenomenological potentials for the αB\alpha-B parts (BB=NN, Λ\Lambda, Ξ\Xi and Σ\Sigma). We find that the calculated ΔBΛΛ\Delta B_{\Lambda\Lambda} of ΛΛ 6^{~6}_{\Lambda\Lambda}He for NSC97e and NSC97f are, respectively, 0.6 and 0.4 MeV in the full coupled-channel calculation, the results of which are about half in comparison with the experimental data, ΔBΛΛexp=1.01±0.200.11+0.18\Delta B^{exp}_{\Lambda\Lambda}=1.01\pm0.20^{+0.18}_{-0.11} MeV. Characteristics of the S=2S=-2 sector in the NSC97 potentials are discussed in detail.Comment: 18 pages, 4 figure

Hyperonic mixing in five-baryon double-strangeness hypernuclei in a two-channel treatment

Properties of hypernuclei ΛΛ5_{\Lambda \Lambda}^5H and ΛΛ5_{\Lambda \Lambda }^5He are studied in a two-channel approach with explicit treatment of coupling of channels ^3\text{Z}+\Lambda+\Lambda and \alpha+\Xi. Diagonal \Lambda\Lambda and coupling \Lambda\Lambda-\Xi N interactions are derived within G-matrix procedure from Nijmegen meson-exchange models. Bond energy \Delta B_{\Lambda\Lambda} in ΛΛ5_{\Lambda \Lambda}^5He exceeds significantly that in ΛΛ5_{\Lambda \Lambda}^5H due to the channel coupling. Diagonal \Xi\alpha attraction amplifies the effect, which is sensitive also to \Lambda-core interaction. The difference of the \Delta B_{\Lambda\Lambda} values can be an unambiguous signature of the \Lambda\Lambda-\Xi N coupling in \Lambda\Lambda hypernuclei. However, improved knowledge of the hyperon-nucleus potentials is needed for quantitative extraction of the coupling strength from future data on the \Lambda\Lambda hypernuclear binding energies.Comment: 11 pages with 3 figures; Phys. A rice cultivation study was conducted at Kyushu University farm. Cow manure (CM), poultry manure (PM), rice straw + urea mix-application (SU), urea (UF) and M-coat, a slow released compound fertilizer (M-coat) were used as the N sources by comparing with no application (Control). Treatments were made with two levels application of each N source at 40 (level I) and 80 kg N ha-1(level II) excluding M-coat. In all urea treatments, three split applications were made. A study of soil incubation was conducted for 2 weeks to investigate the mineralized N of applied mineral and organic fertilizer. Plant growth characters, dry matter, yield and plant nutrient accumulations were higher in mineral fertilization than organic. Mineral fertilization was observed in correlation with the larger crop removal. PM-II as an organic matter provided comparatively higher nutrient accumulations which in turn enhanced the growth and yield of rice. CM and SU gave the lower plant growth, yield and nutrient accumulation. Mineralized N was higher in sole mineral N applications. Organic matter with high C/N ratio provided very low mineralized N and its net N mineralization percentage. Negative values of net N mineralization percentage were observed in SU due to N immobilization. Keywords: Cow Manure, Mineralized N, Paddy Soil, Poultry Manure, Rice (Oryza sativa L.), Rice Stra
