The study explores citation pattern of the 4112 articles in the field of chemical engineering published from 1974 to 2018 and indexed in Web of Science. Apart from good quality research, a number of other factors may be responsible for citing and not citing an article. The study has also tried to explore such factors. Only the top 500 articles with the most number of citations have been analysed in-depth. The countries like United States of America (USA), China, Germany, United Kingdom (UK), France, Canada, India, Japan, Spain, Russia and Brazil have the highest number of articles. The investigators calculated Pearson correlation between the number of keywords, pages, references and citations and it showed that there is no relationship between the number of keywords and number of citations. The number of pages and the number of references in a publication have a significant and positive impact on the number of citations

The endeavor of the present study is to identify and compare the characteristics of cited and uncited publications in the field of reference services. The phrase ‘reference service’ was searched in the document search tab of Scopus database and found 2612 results, which were limited to social science subject area and hence got 2021 results. The retrieved data was then restricted to journal source type and found 1900 results out of 2021. At last, the data was confined to library and information science journals in source titles and retrieved the actual data for the study i.e., 1861 number of articles. The data was then downloaded and finally analyzed on the basis of the year of publication, authors, subject areas, document type, source titles, affiliation, countries, funding agencies and keywords. It was revealed that most of the documents in the field of Reference services are cited and majority of the cited articles are published in the year 2001 whereas two recent consecutive years i.e., 2018 and 2017 has produced mostly uncited publications. Luo, L., from San Jose State University, U.S. was found as the most contributing author in cited publications while Berring, R.C., from University of California, U.S., Duckett, B., from Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, U.S., Needleman, M. from Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T), U.S. are leading the list of contributing authors in uncited publications. The cited publications included more number of subject fields in comparison to uncited publications. Despite the differences, some similarities were found in cited and uncited publications such as the most of them are in the form of articles and they are searchable by “Reference Service” keyword. Majority of cited and uncited publications are from USA. Subsequent similarities revealed that most of the cited as well as uncited documents are non-access type, published in Reference Librarian and apart from their main subject i.e. social sciences they belong to computer science subject area

Purpose: The study investigates the preferences of instructors and students for design and pedagogy features of online instruction at the post-graduate level. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study was carried out using questionnaire as a data gathering tool. Characteristics and features were identified through a comprehensive literature review combined with focus groups. Various design and pedagogy features were identified and the items were structured in a Likert Scale format. Respondents were asked to rate their preferences on a five-point scale, ranging from strongly agree to strongly disagree, for each individual feature. Participants include 7 instructors and 50 students at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).An independent sample T-test was conducted to determine if there was a significant difference between the preferences of instructors and students on the rating of individual features.Scope: To better understand the design and pedagogy features of online instruction, India’s largest e-learning academic institution IGNOU was selected.Findings: Major findings include the high level of agreement on design and pedagogy features by instructors and students and the similarities in rank order by both students earning regular university credit and those pursuing professional development goals. When compared with the ranking of instructors and students, low preferences were being placed on social interactive features.Practical Implications: While there are many parallels between face-to-face teaching and online instruction, there are some differences also. Asynchronous online instruction must be designed in advance of being delivered. Keywords: Pedagogy; e-learning; Continuing education; Online instruction; Development expertisePaper Type: Researc

PURPOSE: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a frequently encountered clinical condition in clinical practice, particularly in obese and diabetic patients. Carotid atherosclerosis is regarded as surrogate marker of coronary atherosclerosis. We aimed to know whether evaluation for carotid atherosclerosis should be done in all patients of NAFLD. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 200 NAFLD patients and 100 age- and sex-matched controls were enrolled into the study. Ultrasound was done to document fatty liver and carotid intimal thickness, and relation between these two was observed. RESULTS: Grade 1 fatty liver was seen in 36% patients while Grade 2 fatty liver was found in 39% and Grade 3 fatty liver in 25%. Patients with Grade 1 fatty liver had left intima-media thickness (IMT) in the range of 0.4–0.6 mm (mean IMT - 0.69 mm) and had right IMT in the range of 0.5–0.8 mm (mean IMT - 0.71 mm). In patients with Grade 2 fatty liver, left IMT was in the range of 0.6–1.0 mm (mean IMT - 0.80 mm) and right IMT in the range of 0.7–1.0 mm (mean IMT - 0.84 mm), while in patients with Grade 3 fatty liver, left IMT was in the range of 0.8–1.2 mm (mean IMT - 0.93 mm) and right IMT in the range of 0.9–1.4 mm (mean IMT - 0.99 mm). Among controls, the mean left IMT was 0.579 mm and mean right IMT was 0.575 mm. CONCLUSION: The level of carotid intimomedial thickness was more in cases than in controls and progressively increased with the grade of fatty liver which was statistically significant

Abstract Background Himalayan Columbine (Aquilegia pubiflora Wall. Ex Royle) is a medicinal plant and have been used as traditional treatments for various human diseases including skin burns, jaundice, hepatitis, wound healing, cardiovascular and circulatory diseases. Till now there is no report available on phytochemical investigation of Himalayan Columbine and to the best of our knowledge, through present study we have reported for the first time, the phytochemical analysis and pharmacological potentials of different leaf extracts of Aquilegia pubiflora. Methods Four types of extracts were prepared using solvent of different polarities (Distilled water APDW, Methanol APM, Ethanol APE and Ethyl acetate APEA), and were evaluated to determine the best candidate for potent bioactivity. Phytochemical constituents in prepared extracts were quantified through HPLC analysis. Subsequently, all four types of leaf extracts were then evaluated for their potential bioactivities including antimicrobial, protein kinase inhibition, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, antioxidant, anti-Alzheimer, anti-aging and cytotoxic effect. Results HPLC analysis demonstrated the presence of dvitexin, isovitexin, orientin, isoorientin, ferulic acid, sinapic acid and chlorogenic acid in varied proportions in all plant extracts. Antimicrobial studies showed that, K. pneumonia was found to be most susceptible to inhibition zones of 11.2 ± 0.47, 13.9 ± 0.33, 12.7 ± 0.41, and 13.5 ± 0.62 measured at 5 mg/mL for APDW, APM, APE and APEA respectively. A. niger was the most susceptible strain in case of APDW with the highest zone of inhibition 14.3 ± 0.32, 13.2 ± 0.41 in case of APM, 13.7 ± 0.39 for APE while 15.4 ± 0.43 zone of inhibition was recorded in case of APEA at 5 mg/mL. The highest antioxidant activity of 92.6 ± 1.8 μgAAE/mg, 89.2 ± 2.4 μgAAE/mg, 277.5 ± 2.9 μM, 289.9 ± 1.74 μM for TAC, TRP, ABTS and FRAP, respectively, was shown by APE. APM, APE and APEA extracts showed a significant % cell inhibition (above 40%) against HepG2 cells. The highest anti-inflammatory of the samples was shown by APE (52.5 ± 1.1) against sPLA2, (41.2 ± 0.8) against 15-LOX, followed by (38.5 ± 1.5) and (32.4 ± 0.8) against COX-1 and COX-2, respectively. Conclusions Strong antimicrobial, Protein Kinase potency and considerable α-glucosidase, α-amylase, and cytotoxic potential were exhibited by plant samples. Significant anti-Alzheimer, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and kinase inhibitory potential of each plant sample thus aware us for further detailed research to determine novel drugs
