Graduate education is changing, driven by social issues, expectations, and technology. Leaders of graduate education play important roles in understanding these changes. The purpose for conducting the study was to profile the professional setting of the graduate dean, exploring the roles, responsibilities, and challenges of the position. Using a research-team developed instrument, graduate education leaders were surveyed. Descriptive findings of the study included the nomenclature of titles who held full time appointments and had an academic background in the liberal arts. The roles and responsibilities of these respondents were reported as a group and separated by research and comprehensive universities
Structure and Functional Responsibilities of Graduate Schools: An Organizational Analysis
The contemporary graduate ‘school’ is facing a number of significant challenges. In addition to the fundamental question of its role as a shared service provider, graduate education units are exploring ways that they can demonstrate a value-added component to the graduate school experience. These activities include offering graduate certificates about how to be a faculty member, how to best teach and mentor graduate students, and offering undergraduate courses on how to get into graduate school. The current study explored 84 graduate ‘school’ or equivalent unit organizational charts, noting major differences between those with research administration attached to them and those without such responsibilities. Country of origin is often listed together with the provision that the brand is expected to improve the equity of the brand. However, information about the country of origin is not always going to be able to increase brand equity. Still happens practically and theoretically gab about the influence of the country of origin on brand equity. Specify the country of origin was able to reduce the brand equity. The absence of studies to determine whether or not to inform the country of origin, especially for Indonesian products in order to compete in the era of globalization makes this study important. This research was conducted in order to determine consumer preference for a particular brand of product categories are associated strongly with the state of Indonesia (batik) and and is not associated strongly with Indonesia (lap top). So it can be used as a reference for marketers Indonesia to determine whether or not to inform important country of origin for their products. Instantaneous Normal Mode analysis of liquid HF
We present an Instantaneous Normal Modes analysis of liquid HF aimed to
clarify the origin of peculiar dynamical properties which are supposed to stem
from the arrangement of molecules in linear hydrogen-bonded network. The
present study shows that this approach is an unique tool for the understanding
of the spectral features revealed in the analysis of both single molecule and
collective quantities. For the system under investigation we demonstrate the
relevance of hydrogen-bonding ``stretching'' and fast librational motion in the

Stone-Wales Transformation Paths in Fullerene C60
The mechanisms of formation of a metastable defect isomer of fullerene C60
due to the Stone-Wales transformation are theoretically studied. It is
demonstrated that the paths of the "dynamic" Stone-Wales transformation at a
high sufficient for overcoming potential barriers) temperature can differ from
the two "adiabatic" transformation paths discussed in the literature. This
behavior is due to the presence of a great near-flat segment of the
potential-energy surface in the neighborhood of metastable states. Besides, the
sequence of rupture and formation of interatomic bonds is other than that in

Instantaneous Normal Mode Analysis of Supercooled Water
We use the instantaneous normal mode approach to provide a description of the
local curvature of the potential energy surface of a model for water. We focus
on the region of the phase diagram in which the dynamics may be described by
the mode-coupling theory. We find, surprisingly, that the diffusion constant
depends mainly on the fraction of directions in configuration space connecting
different local minima, supporting the conjecture that the dynamics are
controlled by the geometric properties of configuration space. Furthermore, we
find an unexpected relation between the number of basins accessed in

Flat-plate solar array project. Volume 4: High-efficiency solar cells
The High Efficiency Solar Cell Task was assigned the objective of understanding and developing high efficiency solar cell devices that would meet the cost and performance goals of the Flat Plate Solar Array (FSA) Project. The need for research dealing with high efficiency devices was considered important because of the role efficiency plays in reducing price per watt of generated energy. The R&D efforts conducted during the 1982 to 1986 period are summarized to provide understanding and control of energy conversion losses associated with crystalline silicon solar cells. New levels of conversion efficiency were demonstrated. Major contributions were made both to the understanding and reduction of bulk and surface losses in solar cells. For example, oxides, nitrides, and polysilicon were all shown to be potentially useful surface passivants. Improvements in measurement techniques were made and Auger coefficients and spectral absorption data were obtained for unique types of silicon sheets. Project Overcoat - An Exploration of Exterior Insulation Strategies for 1-1/2-Story Roof Applications in Cold Climates
The development of an alternative method to interior-applied insulation strategies or exterior applied 'band-aids' such as heat tapes and ice belts may help reduce energy needs of millions of 1-1/2 story homes while reducing the risk of ice dam formation. A potential strategy for energy improvement of the roof is borrowed from new construction best practices: Here an 'overcoat' of a continuous air, moisture, and thermal barrier is applied on the outside of the roof structure for improved overall performance. The continuous insulation of this approach facilitates a reduction in thermal bridging which could further reduce energy consumption and bring existing homes closer to meeting the Building America goals for energy reduction. Research favors an exterior approach to deep energy retrofits and ice dam prevention in existing homes. The greatest amount of research focuses on whole house deep energy retrofits leaving a void in roof-only applications. The research is also void of data supporting the hygrothermal performance, durability, constructability, and cost of roof-only exterior overcoat strategies. Yet, contractors interviewed for this report indicate an understanding that exterior approaches are most promising for mitigating ice dams and energy loss and are able to sell these strategies to homeowners
