    Legado Ancestral. Antropología, arqueología e historia de Xochimilco y el centro de México

    El presente libro constituye la cristalización de un programa de conferencias “La investigación antropológica, histórica y arqueológica en el centro de México”, presentado como complemento de una práctica de campo propuesta en la clase de Etnografía que se impartió a alumnos de cuarto semestre de la Unidad Académica de Antropología de la Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas, con cede en la ciudad de Zacatecas. Otra manera de exhibir la riqueza cultural de Xochimilco y su gente es abordando su peculiar vida religiosa que ha permitido brindar identidad y cohesión social a sus pueblos. En tal aspecto, en esta obra se destacan las fiestas de la Virgen de los Dolores y de la San-ta Cruz, ambas celebradas solemnemente en Santa Cruz Acalpixca. Esta última fue el escenario de nuestra práctica de campo realizada a inicios de mayo de 2015. El enfoque interdisciplinario histórico-antropológico como herramienta en el quehacer académico contemporáneo plantea diversas posturas metodológicas que son aptas para resolver problemas de investigación a través de la conjugación de datos arqueológicos, etnográficos, documenta-les y el análisis de la imagen, que se consideran como instrumentos de conocimiento de la cosmovisión de las sociedades. La arqueología en Xochimilco inicia con un breve recuento de fuentes históricas que discurren sobre el origen de la etnia xochimilca antes de su migración y asentamiento en el Anáhuac; aborda el culto a deidades antiguas y expone la interacción que este grupo mantuvo con otros pueblos entre los siglos XII al XVI. Para hacer el recuento de las investigaciones arqueológicas que se han llevado a cabo en Xochimilco, las autoras acudieron al Registro Público de Monumentos y Zonas Arqueológicas y a la Dirección de Salvamento Arqueológico del Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia; su trabajo nos revela que los asentamientos humanos en la región son mucho más antiguos que lo que se menciona en los documentos virreinales. En el capítulo sobre la Arqueología histórica en Xochimilco. Apuntes para la investigación de su patrimonio inmueble se argumenta la importancia de estudiar, conservar y proteger el patrimonio arqueológico e histórico de la región. Particularmente destaca un listado de monumentos históricos que son reconocidos por la federación como excepcionales y que orgullosamente ostenta Santa Cruz Alcapixca. Las exploraciones arqueológicas llevadas a cabo en el subsuelo del Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México, por parte del equipo de investigadores del Proyecto de Salvamento Arqueológico de Venustiano Carranza No. 53 y República de Uruguay No. 54 (VENUS), dieron por resultado el descubrimiento de dos contextos habitacionales de los siglos XVII y XVIII

    Este es el tercer libro derivado de las investigaciones del Proyecto Arqueología Subacuática en el Nevado de Toluca de la Subdirección de Arqueología Subacuática del INAH. Con esta obra, se da un importante paso en el conocimiento de las actividades rituales que acontecieron dentro del cráter del volcán. A lo Largo de 13 capítulos escritos por diferentes especialistas, se abordan temas diversos como los objetos arqueológicos localizados en el volcán, los análisis en laboratorio y gabinete de las ofrendas depositadas en el interior de los lagos del Sol y la Luna, aspectos de la cronología arqueológica del valle de Toluca, así como posibles relaciones culturales y temporales entre el volcán y otros sitios arqueológicos de la región. Igualmente, se presentan relatos mitológicos sobre la formación del Nevado de Toluca, la importancia de las entidades acuáticas que regían los cuerpos de agua en las tierras bajas y los lagos del cráter, así como una amplia variedad de temas que aluden a la ritualidad, cosmovisión e identidad de esta montaña sagrada.Desde tiempos inmemorables, el volcán Nevado de Toluca ha sido un referente cultural de su paisaje circundante. En época prehispánica, era considerado una montaña viva y sagrada, donde moraban deidades a las cuales se rendía un culto especial. Las evidencias de este simbolismo han perdurado a lo largo del tiempo en los vestigios arqueológicos y en la cosmovisión de los habitantes de la región. En una Mezcla de la investigación arqueológica con el que hacer artístico, el libro está ilustrado con trabajos del grabador Joel Rendón Vázquez, destacado maestro de la gráfica mexicana.
