    Situational-Context: A Unified View of Everything Involved at a Particular Situation

    As the interest in the Web of Things increases, specially for the general population, the barriers to entry for the use of these technologies should decrease. Current applications can be developed to adapt their behaviour to predefined conditions and users preferences, facilitating their use. In the future,Web of Things software should be able to automatically adjust its behaviour to non-predefined preferences or context of its users. In this vision paper we define the Situational-Context as the combination of the virtual profiles of the entities (things or people) that concur at a particular place and time. The computation of the Situational-Context allow us to predict the expected system behaviour and the required interaction between devices to meet the entities’ goals, achieving a better adjustment of the system to variable contexts.Universidad de Málaga.     Novel Antibacterial and Toughened Carbon-Fibre/Epoxy Composites by the Incorporation of TiO2 Nanoparticles Modified Electrospun Nanofibre Veils

    The inclusion of electrospun nanofiber veils was revealed as an effective method for enhancing the mechanical properties of fiber-reinforced epoxy resin composites. These veils will eventually allow the incorporation of nanomaterials not only for mechanical reinforcement but also in multifunctional applications. Therefore, this paper investigates the effect of electrospun nanofibrous veils made of polyamide 6 modified with TiO2 nanoparticles on the mechanical properties of a carbon-fiber/epoxy composite. The nanofibers were included in the carbon-fiber/epoxy composite as a single structure. The effect of positioning these veils in different composite positions was investigated. Compared to the reference, the use of unmodified and TiO2 modified veils increased the flexural stress at failure and the fracture toughness of composites.     El principal objetivo de Internet of Things (IoT) es integrar las tecnologías informáticas en el quehacer cotidiano de las personas, facilitando su interacción con un entorno de dispositivos interconectados, pero el estado actual del arte hace que dicha interacción esté aún lejos de resultar trivial, precisando de continua intervención del usuario. El modelo People as a Service (PeaaS) pretende facilitar estas tareas por medio del uso del teléfono móvil como interfaz del usuario con IoT. PeaaS permite elaborar un perfil sociológico del usuario, que puede ser explotado por el mismo y servido a terceros de forma controlada. En este trabajo presentamos una aplicación móvil para la supervisión de personas afectadas de alzheimer como prueba de concepto del modelo PeaaS, teniendo como resultado una funcionalidad que va mucho más allá de la ofrecida por otros productos similares en este campo.Universidad de Málaga.     Towards dynamically programmable devices using beacons

    With the grow of the Web of Things, lots of devices are being connected to the network. Many of these devices require human interaction when using them. In a desirable scenario, technology should allow to automatically adapt the behavior of these devices to the needs and expectations of their us-ers. To this extent, in previous work we proposed the Internet of People model to automatically develop virtual profiles of people, stored in their smartphones. However, in order to build a complete virtual profile with in-formation about the user’s environment and context, we need also the con-tribution of these surrounding devices. Our goal is to develop a framework in which users and smart devices are integrated seamlessly and in real time, al-lowing programmatic adaptation and update of both virtual user profiles and surrounding devices. As a proof of concept, in this paper we propose the use of beacons for dynamically downloading and executing in the smartphone scripts for updating the virtual profile with context information, and trigger actions both in the smartphone and the devices. This way, we take a first step to an effective Programmable World, in which everyday objects con-nected to the network can be programmatically adapted to their users.Universidad de Málaga.     People as a Service: a mobile-centric model for providing collective sociological profiles

    Mobile devices have become increasingly popular in the everyday life of many individuals. By taking an insight into the most common uses of mobile devices we clearly appreciate that accessing internetbased services has grown greatly. This, and the fact that they are extremely personal gadgets has turned them into the main interface used by individuals to express themselves towards the outside world and to receive information from others. As a result of the highly personal use, mobile devices have been granted the potential to become unrivaled devices for building and storing the virtual profiles of their owners. Access to such profiles is of great interest in fields such as governance, health, smart cities, etc. Generating a centralized profile of a user is a task upon which a lot of interest has been put in the field of social mining.     SOWCompact: A federated process mining method for social workflows

    The growing informatization of the environment allows modeling people’s behavior as a social workflow, where both individual actions and interactions with other people are captured. This modelling includes actions that are part of an individual’s routine, as well as less frequent events. Although infrequent actions may provide relevant information, it is routine behaviors that characterize users. However, the extraction of this knowledge is not simple. There are problems when analyzing together large amounts of traces from many users, resulting into a social workflow that does not clearly depict their behavior, either individually or as a group. Tools that allow grouping/filtering of users with a common behavior pattern are needed, to analyze each of these groups separately. This study presents the federated process mining and an associated tool, SOWCompact. Its potential is validated through the case study called activities of daily living (ADL). Using federated process mining, along with current process mining techniques, more compact processes using only the social workflow’s most relevant information are obtained, while allowing the analysis of these social workflows.Universidad de Málaga.     Operating with Quantum Integers: an Efficient 'Multiples of' Oracle

    Quantum algorithms are a very promising field. However, creating and manipulating these kind of algorithms is a very complex task, specially for software engineers used to work at higher abstraction levels. The work presented here is part of a broader research focused on providing operations of a higher abstraction level to manipulate integers codified as a superposition. These operations are designed to be composable and efficient, so quantum software developers can reuse them to create more complex solutions. Specifically, in this paper we present a 'multiples of' operation. To validate this operation we show several examples of quantum circuits and their simulations, including its composition possibilities. A theoretical analysis proves that both the complexity of the required classical calculations and the depth of the circuit scale linearly with the number of qubits. Hence, the 'multiples of' oracle is efficient in terms of complexity and depth. Finally, an empirical study of the circuit depth is conducted to further reinforce the theoretical analysis.Comment: 19 pages, 18 figures, preprint submitted to SummerSOC 202

    Some Initial Guidelines for Building Reusable Quantum Oracles

    The evolution of quantum hardware is highlighting the need for advances in quantum software engineering that help developers create quantum software with good quality attributes. Specifically, reusability has been traditionally considered an important quality attribute in terms of efficiency of cost and effort. Increasing the reusability of quantum software will help developers create more complex solutions, by reusing simpler components, with better quality attributes, as long as the reused components have also these attributes. This work focuses on the reusability of oracles, a well-known pattern of quantum algorithms that can be used to perform functions used as input by other algorithms. In particular, in this work, we present several guidelines for making reusable quantum oracles. These guidelines include three different levels for oracle reuse: the ideas inspiring the oracle, the function which creates the oracle, and the oracle itself. To demonstrate these guidelines, two different implementations of a range of integers oracle have been built by reusing simpler oracles. The quality of these implementations is evaluated in terms of functionality and quantum circuit depth. Then, we provide an example of documentation following the proposed guidelines for both implementations to foster reuse of the provided oracles. This work aims to be a first point of discussion towards quantum software reusability. Additional work is needed to establish more specific criteria for quantum software reusability.Comment: 10 page

    Coordinación de Dispositivos IoT mediante Web Semántica y Ontologías en Situational-Context

    El ritmo al que crece Internet de las Cosas (IoT) es imparable. Existen multitud de fabricantes que desarrollan dispositivos IoT, siguiendo sus propias especificaciones y sin atender a un estándar que todavía no existe como tal. Esto nos lleva a una situación donde la gran heterogeneidad de dispositivos que podemos encontrar en el mercado, provoca que esta interconexión sea compleja o incluso no sea posible, impidiendo así que los dispositivos puedan coordinarse para desarrollar tareas colaborativas. Esta interconexión además depende del contexto, pues los dispositivos IoT deben adaptar su comportamiento dependiendo de las características de las personas que les rodean. Con nuestra propuesta, abordamos esta situación proponiendo un sistema que permita identificar una interconexión dinámica de dispositivos IoT que surja de situaciones cambiantes. Gracias a nuestro trabajo conseguimos que esta interconexión sea dependiente del contexto, creando un entorno colaborativo entre personas y dispositivos.Universidad de Málaga.
