Brazil has stood out as a major producer of renewable energy in the world, despite advances in terms of its use, it is not yet a potential collaborative generator due to the inability of a bidirectional flow over the existing energy matrix, which has, in its extension, a strong limitation from the topological point of view, therefore, looking for computational models that operate within optimal solutions, supported by Graph Theory, is the objective of this work, making use of the Kruskal and Vertex Cover algorithms. to identify an alternative capable of producing a usable scenario under the implementation aspect and with a reduction of the costs under this expansion

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the lives of millions of people, from the health, social and economic point of view, with strong impact on social security, youth and adult education, and other areas that, combined, directly impact the world economy. Objective: To present a review of some relevant works about the COVID-19 pandemic in order to demonstrate effective actions to face the pandemic and its impact on public health. Method: Bibliographic analysis of cross-sectional cohort studies that use official data on the number of cases, number of deaths, and doses applied according to age, dose, and type of vaccine supported by epidemiological models. Results: Despite the more than 460 million doses applied, we still have significant portions of the population without the complete vaccination schedule, with a real possibility of a new wave of COVID-19 by the end of the year 2022. Conclusions: SARS-CoV-2 continues to circulate strongly throughout Brazil and the world, increasing the possibility of new variants that would result in new waves of the pandemic, which can be avoided by measures implemented by the public authorities, such as the intensified vaccination campaigns, non-pharmaceutical measures and public information campaigns.

Towards Sustainable Virtual Reality: Gathering Design Guidelines for Intuitive Authoring Tools

Virtual reality experiences are frequently created using game engines, yet they are not simple for novices and unskilled professionals who do not have programming and 3D modeling skills. Concurrently, there is a knowledge gap in software project design for intuitive virtual reality authoring tools, which were supposed to be easier to use. This study compiles design guidelines derived from a systematic literature review to contribute to the development of more intuitive virtual reality authoring tools. We searched the Scopus and Web of Science knowledge databases for studies published between 2018 and 2021 and discovered fourteen articles. We compiled fourteen requirement and feature design guidelines, such as Visual Programming, Immersive Authoring, Reutilization, Sharing and Collaboration, Metaphors, and Movement Freedom, among others. The gathered guidelines have the potential to either guide the development of new authoring tools or to evaluate the intuitiveness of existing tools. Furthermore, they can also support the development of the metaverse since virtual content creation is one of its bases

Virtual Reality-Based Stimuli for Immersive Car Clinics: A Performance Evaluation Model

    No full text
This study proposes a model to evaluate the performance of virtual reality-based stimuli for immersive car clinics. The model considered Attribute Importance, Stimuli Efficacy and Stimuli Cost factors and the method was divided into three stages: we defined the importance of fourteen attributes relevant to a car clinic based on the perceptions of Marketing and Design experts; then we defined the efficacy of five virtual stimuli based on the perceptions of Product Development and Virtual Reality experts; and we used a cost factor to calculate the efficiency of the five virtual stimuli in relation to the physical. The Marketing and Design experts identified a new attribute, Scope; eleven of the fifteen attributes were rated as Important or Very Important, while four were removed from the model due to being considered irrelevant. According to our performance evaluation model, virtual stimuli have the same efficacy as physical stimuli. However, when cost is considered, virtual stimuli outperform physical stimuli, particularly virtual stimuli with glasses. We conclude that virtual stimuli have the potential to reduce the cost and time required to develop new stimuli in car clinics, but with concerns related to hardware, software, and other definitions

Scenarios and opportunities in the sugar and ethanol industry - challenges and opportunities towards a low carbon economy in Brazil

With the future of transport embracing new models of mobility, hybridization and electrification, a reduction in fossil fuel consumption is expected. Biofuels, especially biomass-derived ethanol, play a significant role in this transition by boosting greenhouse gas emissions. Ethanol production is considered strategic by industrialized countries, coming from renewable biomass in the energy sector. Studies have explored the contribution of biofuels to the decarbonization of the vehicle transport sector at levels from 2030 to 2050. However, the future energy matrix remains uncertain, with the potential coexistence of multiple matrices and technologies. This research evaluates Brazil's position in these scenarios, considering the challenges and risks to achieve a sustainable energy matrix in the transport sector. The methodology involves the analysis of decarbonization scenarios, methods and concepts, examining scenarios projected for the future of the light vehicle sector in the main consumer countries. In addition, the research discusses Brazil's role in biofuels and transport scenarios, with a focus on Brazilian ethanol in the global bioeconomy by 2050. The challenge of decarbonization in the transport sector is global and highlights the importance of Brazil as the second largest producer of bioethanol, after the US
