Preference for top managerial positions as a result of utility-maximization behavior under religious moral prescriptions

The analysis described in this study is focused on the influence of religious ethics over individuals\u27 tendency to seek top-managerial positions in their professional activity. The analysis assumes agents maximize utility. According to religious doctrines, afterlife salvation is a goal which could be accomplished only by following certain prescribed behavioural norms. While salvation can be considered as being an identical goal for most religions, the- way of pursuing it differs from one religion to another. This difference in means of attaining salvation reflects on various aspects of human behaviour. One of these aspects is the professional conduct of people engaging in business related activities, which constitutes the focus of our investigation. While Protestant and Judaic religions implicitly stimulate people to orientate themselves towards topmanagerial position, Catholic and Orthodox religions discourage this orientation. Starting from this hypothesis, the topic was thoroughly investigated using both exploratory and descriptive research. The final results constitute a partial support for the initial hypothesis. They are not to be seen as absolute conclusions, but as a perfectible contribution to a better understanding of the relationship between religious norms and the economic activities individuals engage in

INCAS SUBSONIC WIND TUNNEL

The INCAS Subsonic Wind Tunnel is a closed circuit, continuous, atmospheric pressure facility with a maximum speed of 110 m/s. The test section is octagonal ,of 2.5 m wide, 2.0 m high and 4 m long. The tunnel is powered by a 1200 kW, air cooled variable speed DC motor which drives a 12 blade, 3.5 m diameter fan and is equipped with a six component pyramidal type external mechanical balance with a 700 Kgf maximum lift capacity.The angle of attack range is between -45º and +45º while the yaw angle range is between -140º and +216º .The data acquisition system has been modified recently to allow the recording of all test data on a PC - type computer using LABVIEW and a PXI – type chassis containing specialized data acquisition modules.The tunnel is equipped with a variable frequency electrical supply system for powered models and a 10 bar compressed air supply for pneumatic flow control applications.In the recent years the subsonic wind tunnel has been intensively used for tests within several European projects (AVERT, CESAR and others)

EVALUATION OF THE LEVEL OF MOLDOVA’S ECONOMIC SECURITY IN THE PROCESS OF EUROPEAN INTEGRATION

Currently, the analysis of the modern concept of economic security and different economic approaches to economic security of the state became as urgent as it has never been earlier. The modern concept of economic security is understood as the state of the economic system that allows it to develop in a sustainable, dynamically way and to solve the problems so that the state will have the possibility to develop and to implement effectively its economic objectives. Thus, we found out that economic security can be analysed throughout two main approaches: microeconomic and macroeconomic. Both approaches focus on main macroeconomic indicators that we had as an aim to analyse and to quantify the general economic security. Despite the quantitative indicators, we concluded that there are three most important qualitative indicators: economic independence; the economic stability and sustainability; the ability to progress. These are crucial in a rapidly developing world

Prosthetic treatment with mobilizable prosthesis on implants in mandible total edentation

The patiets that benefit of this type of prosthetic, which is a complete one, including also the costs for additional surgery from conventional prostesis, sould be properly informed on the benefits and also on the possible problems of this kind of tretment. As well, come out the necessity of informing the patient about the implants, a new treatment introduced in dental practice. Withal the patient is infomed about the aspects of dispensary and sanitation, which patient should know. In conclusion, the prosthetic is an alternative treatment with numerous benefits, but that need a complex approach from the doctors side and the availability to guide the patient for choosing the optimal variant of the treatment in each case. Supraprotezarea pe implante reprezintă o alternativă de tratament în terapia edentaţiei totale, fiind o protezare mobilizabilă sprijinită, menţinută şi stabilizată pe implante cu mijloace speciale de retenţie. Pacienţii care beneficiază de acest tip de protezare, care este una complexă, incluzând atât costuri cât şi intervenţii chirurgicale suplimentare faţă de protezarea convenţională, trebuie să fie corect informaţi asupra beneficiilor dar şi asupra problemelor pe care le ridică acest tip de tratament. De asemenea, apare necesitatea informării pacientului asupra aplicării implantelor, tratament nou introdus în practica stomatologică. Tot în cadrul informării pacientului sunt menţionate aspectele legate de dispensarizarea şi igienizarea pacientului, care trebuiesc aduse la cunoştinţa acestuia. În concluzie, protezarea pe implante este o alternativă de tratament cu numeroase beneficii, dar care necesită din partea medicului o abordare complexă a cazului şi disponibilitate de a îndruma pacientul spre alegerea variantei optime de tratament pentru fiecare caz

Multiscale electrochemical investigation of the corrosion resistance of various alloys used in dental prostheses

The electrochemical behaviour of Ag-Pd (Paliag), Ni-Cr (Heraenium NA), and Co-Cr (Heraenium CE) alloys used in dental prosthetics construction of crowns and bridges was studied in 0.9% NaCl solution at 25 ºC. The localized electrochemical characteristics related to corrosion resistance and eventual breakdown of the protecting oxide layers were investigated by scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM), whereas potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques were employed to establish oxide stability. When the corrosion resistance of the alloys was evaluated by means of the corrosion current value determined around their corresponding open circuit potential in 0.9% NaCl solution, good protection can be expected resulting from their spontaneous passivation (low current densities in the order of tenths of μA cm-2). The polarization resistance of all the samples increased with immersion time, in the sequence Ag-Pd < Heraenium NA < Heraenium CE. Yet, increased electrochemical activity was detected with SECM when the alloys were polarized at +0.40 VSCE, a value that may be eventually experienced in the human body. Evaluation of the corrosion resistance of plasma nitrided austenitic stainless steel

Plasma nitriding at 500 °C for 14 h was applied to austenitic 304 stainless steel for surface hardening. The effect of surface treatment on the corrosion resistance of the material was investigated in naturally-aerated 0.5 M NaCl solution for 30 days using linear potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy methods. Both as-cast and plasma nitrided stainless steel samples underwent spontaneous passivation, though the nitrided sample exhibited more positive zero current potential, higher breakdown potential, and lower anodic current densities than the as-cast material. Impedance spectra were interpreted in terms of a duplex passive film, corrosion resistance mainly arising from a thin inner compact layer, whereas the outer layer was more porous and less sealing. Capacitive behaviour and high corrosion resistance were observed in the low and medium frequency ranges for the nitrided sample

Influence of technological parameters on the sensory quality of smoked pork chop samples

The importance of meat in consumption is due to its nutritional qualities, being a source of macronutrients, high-quality proteins and lipids, and highly bioavailable micronutrients such as iron, zinc, selenium, phosphorus, vitamin A and the B complex of vitamins. In addition to its nutritional quality, meat is also known for its sensory properties. The sensory quality of meat is determined by the technological processes the raw material undergoes, such as maturing, salting and heat treatments. By differentiating the parameters of the production technology (ageing time, salting degree, heat treatment time and temperature), the sensory differences between the experimental batches were investigated. The ageing time had a significant impact on the textural characteristics, the batches matured for 7 days showed lower hardness and higher juiciness. The heat treatment parameters (time and temperature) mainly influenced the aroma, imparting a slightly more intense burnt flavour to the batches subjected to the highest temperatures (P1 and P2). The rancid flavour had subunit mean scores for all six experimental batches produced, with no significant differences. For the colour attributes evaluated, no significant differences were observed between the experimental batches studied, the highest average were scores achieved by P5 (8.08 ± 0.310 points) for colour intensity and P2 (8.43 ± 0.383 points) for colour uniformity
