A 6-COMPONENT PADDLE SENSOR TO ESTIMATE KAYAKER’S PERFORMANCE: PRELIMINARY RESULTS
The purpose of this study was to measure the paddle shaft-hand interaction while an athlete paddled a kayak ergometer. The paddle shaft was specifically equipped with two 6-component force sensors to measure the contact force between the athlete’s hands and the paddle shaft. In order to minimise the error of the data collected, this new instrumentation was specifically calibrated for this experience. Preliminary results suggested that this new instrumentation provided data of high interest to improve our knowledge of the propulsion and recovery phases while kayaking an ergometer. In the future, this innovative instrumentation could be used during on-water sessions
From static to Vaidya solutions in scalar tensor theories
We consider some classes of Horndeski theories in four dimensions for which a
certain combination of the Einstein equations within a spherical ansatz splits
into two distinct branches. Recently, for these theories, some integrability
and compatibility conditions have been established which have made it possible
to obtain black hole solutions depending on a single integration constant
identified as the mass. Here, we will show that these compatibility conditions
can be generalized to accommodate a time dependence by promoting the constant
mass to an arbitrary function of the retarded (advanced) time. As a direct
consequence, we prove that all the static black hole solutions can be naturally
promoted to non static Vaidya-like solutions. We extend this study in arbitrary
higher dimensions where the pure gravity part is now described by the Lovelock
theory and, where the scalar field action enjoyed the conformal invariance. For
these theories, the splitting in two branches is also effective, and we show
that their known static black hole solutions can as well be promoted to
Vaidya-like solutions.Comment: 7 page

Popular Culture Portrayals of Latinos and Mental Health
Research on the portrayals of Latinos and mental health allows for the conceptualization of a long-lasting social issue. This project identifies the different film and television content that erroneously depicts Latinos with mental illnesses. This study takes a qualitative approach to help describe what roles Latino characters play in the media and how mental health is portrayed by such characters. We selected a purposive sample of cases where Latino roles were played by Latino actors, non-Latino actors, or actors with an “ambiguous” ethnic identity. This collaborative project poses the following research questions: We ask how are Latinos with mental health issues portrayed in popular culture
Mapping Chilean clinical research : A protocol for a scoping review and multiple evidence gap maps
Introduction Clinical research broadly aims to influence decision-making in order to promote appropriate healthcare. Funding agencies should prioritise research projects according to needed research topics, methodological and cost-effectiveness considerations, and expected social value. In Chile, there is no local diagnosis regarding recent clinical research that might inform prioritisation for future research funding. This research aims to comprehensively identify and classify Chilean health research studies, elaborating evidence gap maps for the most burdensome local conditions. Methods and analysis We will search in electronic databases (MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO, CINAHL, LILACS and WoS) and perform hand searches to retrieve, identify and classify health research studies conducted in Chile or by authors whose affiliations are based in Chile, from 2000 onwards. We will elaborate evidence matrices for the 20 conditions with the highest burden in Chile (according to the Global Burden of Disease 2019) selected from those defined under the General Regime of the Health Guarantees Act. To elaborate the evidence gap maps, we will consider prioritised interventions and core outcome sets. To identify knowledge gaps and estimate redundant research, we will contrast these gap maps with the available international evidence of high or moderate certainty of evidence, for each specific clinical question. For this purpose, we will search systematic reviews using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. Ethics and dissemination No ethical approval is required to conduct this project. We will submit our results in both peer-reviewed journals and scientific conferences. We will aim to disseminate our findings through different academic platforms, social media, local press, among others. The final results will be communicated to local funding agencies and government stakeholders. Discussion We aim to provide an accurate and up-to-date picture of the research gaps - to be filled by new future findings - and the identification of redundant research, which will constitute relevant information for local decision-makers
Towards a more complete description of nucleon distortion in lepton-induced single-pion production at low-
Theoretical predictions for lepton-induced single-pion production (SPP) on
C are revisited in order to assess the effect of different treatments of
the current operator. On one hand we have the asymptotic approximation, which
consists in replacing the particle four-vectors that enter in the operator by
their asymptotic values, i.e., their values out of the nucleus. On the other
hand we have the full calculation, which is a more accurate approach to the
problem. We also compare with results in which the final nucleon is described
by a relativistic plane wave, to rate the effect of the nucleon distortion. The
study is performed for several lepton kinematics, reproducing inclusive and
semi-inclusive cross sections belonging to the low- region (between 0.05
and 1 GeV), which is of special interest in charged-current (CC)
neutrino-nucleus 1 production. Inclusive electron results are compared
with experimental data. We find non-trivial corrections comparable in size with
the effect of the nucleon distortion, namely, corrections up to 6\%, either
increasing or diminishing the asymptotic prediction, and a shift of the
distributions towards higher energy transfer. For the semi-inclusive cross
sections, we observe the correction to be prominent mainly at low values of the
outgoing nucleon kinetic energy. Finally, for CC neutrino-induced 1
production, we find a reduction at low- with respect to both the
plane-wave approach and the asymptotic case
