    Psychology Test Using HyperCard On The Macintosh

    The Department of Clinical Psychology currently use a number of HyperCard programs to carry out tests on subjects. A number of new tests have been proposed for potential conversion into HyperCard programs. The tests involved in this conversion is Drug Attitude Inventory (DAI) questionnaire and Liverpool University Neuroleptic Side Effect Rating Scale (LUNSERS) questionnaire. Normally these questionnaires using paper to run the test. HyperCard programs have been written to run the test and it required HyperCard version 2.2. For Drug Attitude Inventory (DAI) questionnaire, three stacks and four files have been produced and for Liverpool University Neuroleptic Side Effect Rating Scale (LUNSERS)questionnaire, two stacks and two files have been produced. Each stack has it own function, there is stack to generate the questionnaire, stack to run the test and stack to process the results. LUNSERS questionnaire only has stack to generate the questionnaire and stack to run the test. Stack to process the result will be developed by somebody else. To go from card to card and to answer the test, user only need to click on the appropriate button because most of the operations in these stacks are handle using buttons. Different stack will be used by different user because each stack runs different function. Both the conversion questionnaires have save many tedious work especially while processing the result from the test

    Malay Sign Language (MSL)or Bahasa Isyarat Malaysia is a language that has been used by the deaf people in Malaysia. The deaf and hearing-impaired people go to special schools to learn the MSL. Incurrent age, technology could be utilized for the purpose of providing MSL course for the hearing-impaired people and their stakeholders. With the provision of the technology-based MSL course,learning MSL not only happen in schools, but also at home, or anywhere.     A Secured Model of E-Tendering Using Unified Modeling Language Approach

    E-Tendering systems remain uncertain on issues relating to legal and security compliance, in which unclear security framework is one of the issues. In te current situation, tendering systems are lacking in addressing integrity, confidentiality, authentication, and non-repudiation. Thus, ensuring the system requirements, consider security and trust issues has to be regarded as one of the challenges in developing an e-Tendering system. Therefore, this paper a model of a secured e-Tendering system using Unified Modeling Language (UML) approach. The modelling process begins with identifying the e-Tendering process, which is based on Australian Standard Code of Tendering (AS 4120-1994). It is followed by identifying the security threats and its countermeasure. The use case approach has been proven reliable in determining appropriate requirements for handling security issues. Having considered that, the outcome of this paper is a secured e-Tendering model. The model can guide developers as well as other researchers

    Balanced scorecard (BSC),a strategic performance management tool, provides non -financial performance measures which reflect a more 'balanced' view of organizational performance. It has been extensively used in business industries, government agencies, and non-profit organizations worldwide particularly in aligning their business /management activities to the vision and strategy of their organizations.BSC can also improve internal and external communications, and monitor organizational performance against strategic goals.The BSC approach provides a clear prescription to organizations in identifying non-financial elements/components to be measured in order to 'balance' the financial perspective.The financial perspective is one of the key measures that are normally used in a tender evaluation process.The tender evaluation process is performed to determine and select suitable contractor for a particular project. Therefore, this paper aims to contribute an understanding on the effective use of the BSC and establish a conceptual framework for an information technology (IT) project tender evaluation.     Conceptual model of tacit knowledge transfer for PBL teaching method in system analysis and design course

    Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a teaching method that is able to transfer tacit knowledge from lecturers to students based on Socialization, Externalization, Combination, and Internalization (SECI) model.However, the SECI model does not include students’ performance factor, which is an indicator to measure the effectiveness of teaching and learning processes.Hence, this study proposes a conceptual framework to evaluate the effectiveness of using PBL as a teaching method in transferring tacit knowledge by enhancing the SECI model.The methodology begins with constructing a questionnaire to investigate the SECI and Performance processes in transferring tacit knowledge from lecturers to students.The respondents are students of System Analysis Design (SAD) in Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). The gathered data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to identify the effect of the significant direct relationship among the factors.The findings reveal that the SECI model fits the data for PBL teaching method in Software Engineering (SE) education.Three significant direct effects (regression weights) were obtained between the factors of SECI model.However, the direct effects of SECI processes on performance of students are not significant. The findings of this study also evidence that the SECI model is partially present in the knowledge creation processes in the PBL teaching method for SE education

    Requirement model for teaching and learning science subject using augmented reality technology

    In Malaysia, Science is one of the important subjects in school’s curriculum. Nevertheless, it is obvious to be seen that learning Science via traditional method is not making the complex knowledge any easy to learn and understand. Augmented Reality (AR) is the augmentation of the real world's scene via the addition of 3D virtual objects.AR technology has been introduced in Science subject to solve the aforementioned problem.It has been proven that AR is an effective method in delivering lessons to the students instead of the traditional method.It assists in improving the quality of teaching and attracts the students' attention.The study conducted implemented AR in Science subject for Year 1 in primary school by enhancing the students' comprehension of the subject.The scope of the study, however, covers more than the boundary of the syllabus since a pilot study conducted shown that the teachers expect the technology to enlighten the students on muscular system.The purpose is to provide the students with added value apart from the existing Science knowledge covered in the syllabus.The study developed a support tool for Science subject using AR technology.In order to ensure that the AR tool developed is guided by literature and theories, a requirement model of Augmented Reality for Learning in Muscular System (ARMS) has been constructed.It is also proposed to guide the development system and also cognitive aspect of the students.To achieve the aim of the study, four objectives have been formed namely: (i) to identify issues related to the implementation of Science subject in primary school, (ii) to identify issues related to the implementation of AR in education, (iii) to construct requirement model for supporting teaching and learning Science subject using AR, and (iv) to evaluate the proposed requirement model by expert review.In an effort to ensure the study is conducted in a relatively proper sequence, four phases of methodology has been followed. The phases consist of; (i) theoretical study, (ii) preliminary study, (iii) requirement model construction, and (iv) review and validate the requirement model of ARMS by experts respectively.As for the requirement model, it is constituted of two main components which are Requirement to Implement AR in a Classroom (R-IARC), and Experiential Learning Model (ELM).The acceptance of the proposed requirement model has been validated by the experts which formed of Science teachers and AR Experts themselves.The input by the experts have been used to enhance the requirement model proposed.It is hoped that by implementing AR in Science teaching and learning helps to counter the declining interest in Science subject in Malaysian primary schools particularly in suburb area

There are many models attempted to propose a set of characteristics for evaluating and selecting COTS software.However, these models have concentrated on the functional and quality characteristics of COTS software, leaving other effective characteristics related to vendor (the organization that developed, support, and realized COTS software) and user (the organization that integrated and used COTS software) organizations. Therefore, this paper proposed a set of important characteristics relevant to the vendor and user organizations that play important role to discriminate between COTS alternatives in COTS evaluation and selection process.Most of the related studies have been analyzed and carefully studied in the literature to identify and propose these characteristics together with their attributes and associated metrics

    A problem based learning model for IT courses

    A problem that always occurs in the implementation of PBL is inappropriate course assessment, the out-of-context conversation, unbalanced group formation and improper facilitation.In addition, a comprehensive PBL model that considers those factors has not been performed yet.Thus, this paper aims to determine the effective factors that might influence IT students’ perception on the PBL practices.The study involved three (3) main phases: Initial Study, Modeling, and Validation. Four main factors have been identified: PBL Characteristics, Course Assessment, PBL Practices, and PBL Perception. Based on these four factors, a PBL model hasbeen constructed.Four hypotheses were formulated and analyzed.All hypotheses have been proven significantly acceptable.The results show that the PBL Characteristics and Course Assessment factors significantly influence the PBL Practices and indirectly influence the students’ perception on the PBL implementation for IT courses.This model can assist decision makers in enhancing the PBL teaching and learning strategy for IT courses

    Examining the influence of team work factors on team performance for software development in telecommunication industry

    A number of projects have failed in software industry due to exceeding budget and schedule. The main reason for most project failure is poor performance of their development team, in which the team performance is affected by a number of factors.The main objective of this study is to identify the factors that have significant effect on the performance of the software development team.A set of questionnaire has been distributed to a sample of software developers in telecommunication industries in Iraq and Kurdistan Region Government (KRG) using stratified sampling technique.The analysis of the data was carried out using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine the relationship between the identified factors and the performance on software development team.The results prove that coordination of expertise; communication and mutual support positively affect the performance of software development team
