    Get PDF
Diabetes mellitus is a severe, chronic disease that occurs when blood glucose levels rise above certain limits. Many complications arise if diabetes remains untreated and unidentified. Early prediction of diabetes is the most high-quality way to forestall and manipulate diabetes and its complications. With the rising incidence of diabetes, machine learning and deep learning algorithms have been increasingly used to predict diabetes and its complications due to their capacity to care for massive and complicated facts sets. This research aims to develop an intelligent computational model that can accurately predict the probability of diabetes in patients at an early stage. The proposed predictor employs hybrid pseudo-K-tuple nucleotide composition (PseKNC) for sequence formulation, an unsupervised principal component analysis (PCA) algorithm for discriminant feature selection, and a deep neural network (DNN) as a classifier. The experimental results show that the proposed technique can perform better on benchmark datasets. Furthermore, overall assessment performance compared to existing predictors indicated that our predictor outperformed the cutting-edge predictors using 10-fold cross validation. It is anticipated that the proposed model could be a beneficial tool for diabetes diagnosis and precision medicine

Infectious bursal disease (IBD) is an acute highly contagious viral infection of young chickens often resulting in immunosuppression. Inactivated vaccines play significant role in protection against IBD. Mammalian cell lines could be used for producing such vaccines. In present study twenty-five, local strains of IBD virus were inoculated into chicken embryo bursa cell culture, liver cell culture, kidney cell culture, fibroblast cell culture and Vero cell lines for cytopathic effect. Moreover comparative susceptibility of chicken embryo bursa organ, embryo liver organ and embryo kidney organ cultures, to infectious bursal disease virus were studied. Chicken embryo bursa cell line was found to be most susceptible (90%) followed by Vero cell lines (70%), fibroblast cell lines (65%), kidney cell lines (50%) and liver cell lines (45%). While chicken embryo bursa organ culture gave maximum cytopathic effect (80%) followed by chicken embryo liver (60%) and kidney organ (45%). From these studies it is concluded that after bursa cell lines, Vero cell lines gave maximum cytopathic effect yielding high number of virus particles and are easy to maintain. Thus Vero cell lines can be used to produce infectious bursal disease vaccines using local isolates

© 2020 Elsevier B.V. Wireless communication and computation technologies are becoming increasingly complex and dynamic due to the sophisticated and ubiquitous Internet of things (IoT) applications. Therefore, future wireless networks and computation solutions must be able to handle these challenges and dynamic user requirements for the success of IoT systems. Recently, learning strategies (particularly deep learning and reinforcement learning) are explored immensely to deal with the complexity and dynamic nature of communication and computation technologies for IoT systems, mainly because of their power to predict and efficient data analysis. Learning strategies can significantly enhance the performance of IoT systems at different stages, including at IoT node level, local communication, long-range communication, edge gateway, cloud platform, and corporate data centers. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of learning strategies for IoT systems. We categorize learning paradigms for communication and computing technologies in IoT systems into reinforcement learning, Bayesian algorithms, stochastic learning, and miscellaneous. We then present research in IoT with the integration of learning strategies from the optimization perspective where the optimization objectives are categorized into maximization and minimization along with corresponding applications. Learning strategies are discussed to illustrate how these strategies can enhance the performance of IoT applications. We also identify the key performance indicators (KPIs) used to evaluate the performance of IoT systems and discuss learning algorithms for these KPIs. Lastly, we provide future research directions to further enhance IoT systems using learning strategie

The water, air permeability and thermal resistance of fabrics are important attributes that have a significant impact on the thermal comfort properties of sportswear fabrics in different environmental conditions. In this work, terry and fleece fabrics were developed by varying the fibre content and mass per unit area of fabrics. Moreover, the thermo-physical properties of the developed fabrics, including air permeability, water vapor permeability and thermal resistance, were analysed before and after washing. The multi-response optimization of the thermal comfort properties of knitted fabrics was performed using principal component analysis (PCA) and the Taguchi signal-to-noise ratio (PCA-S/N ratio) to achieve optimal properties. It was determined that the selected parameters (fabric type, finishing, fibre content and fabric mass per unit area) had a significant effect on the thermal comfort properties of knitted fabrics. The PCA analysis showed that 100% cotton terry fabric before washing with an aerial weight of 220 g/m2 had higher air and water vapor permeability value, but a lower thermal resistance value
