    A multi-criteria framework for office tenants' preferences at office buildings

    In order to mitigate the anticipated oversupply of office space, it is necessary to gauge the preference of office occupiers, namely tenants of purpose built office buildings, since these tenants form the indicator of demand for space. In this study, a multi-criteria decision making method (MCDM) – the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) procedure was employed to analyse the relative importance of the main factors chosen by the main sectors of tenants at top grade office buildings in Kuala Lumpur city centre. This study had identified the elicitation of experts’ opinion and tenants’ selection comprises twenty-six important factors for office occupation in Kuala Lumpur city centre, grouped under four main categories: Location, Lease, Building and Financial/Cost. This study then employed AHP to assess the relative importance placed on each category, revealing the varying patterns of preferences when tested on tenants from three main business sectors occupying top grade office buildings. The findings showed that, between the three sectors (Finance/Banking, ICT & Media and Oil & Gas), differences in preference were only slight for most factors but were significant for a few. The findings from this study are insightful in informing decisions on future office provision, particularly in the context of working towards satisfying office tenants’ requirements

The angles at the tetra­hedral carbon atoms are marginally increased [113.63 (12)° and 111.38 (17)° for S—C—C and C—C—C respectively] from the idealized tetra­hedral angle. The mol­ecule lies on an inversion center located at the mid-point of the butyl chain. In the crystal, there is a π–π stacking inter­action between inversion-related pyrimidine rings with mean inter­planar spacing of 3.494 (2) Å

    In this article, we study the n+1 -dimensional space time fractional Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation for calculating the exact solutions. For this purpose fractional derivative is used in the form of modified Riemann-Liouville derivatives. Complex fractional transformation is applied for transforming the nonlinear partial differential equation into another nonlinear ordinary differential equation. Exact solutions are obtained by using modified simple equation method and 1⁄G' -expansion method. Obtained solutions are new and may be of significant importance in the field of plasma physics to investigate the waves in the magnetized plasma and in the dust plasma

    FORMULATION DEVELOPMENT AND IN-VITRO EVALUATION OF BI-LAYER TABLET OF SUSTAINED RELEASE (S.R) FLURBIPROFEN AND IMMEDIATE RELEASE DOXYCYCLINE

    The purpose of this study was to formulate and characterize bi-layer tablet of doxycycline immediate release and flurbiprofen sustained release. Bi-layer tablets were formulated by wet granulation method. Ethyl cellulose and HPMC K 100 were used as polymer for sustained release. Five immediate release formulations were developed with varying excipients. Bi-layer tablets were evaluated by pre formulation and post formulation parameters as stated by USP. Dissolution was conducted in 0.1N HCl and 6.8 phosphate buffer and resulting data were analyzed statistically by one way ANOVA and drug release kinetics was studied using various release kinetic models. Data from pre formulation confirmed the purity of doxycycline hyclate and flurbiprofen. FTIR spectroscopy confirmed the absence of incompatibility between drugs and excipients. Dissolution profile in 0.1N HCl and 6.8 phosphate buffer was according to USP guidelines. The regression coefficient (R ) values from kinetic analysis showed that release followed Higuchi model indicating release mechanism followed diffusion transport. Results of one way ANOVA confirmed that there is no statistically significant difference between drug dissolution of all formulations(p > 0.05). Bi-layer tablet was successfully formulated and it is a suitable approach to increase patient compliance and decrease cost of therapy

    Protein Engineering of Endoglucanase CelR of Clostridium thermocellum for Enhanced Expression

    Background: Enhanced production and improved properties of cellulases for a greater activity on plant biomass would rank amongst the top priorities for second-generation ethanol production. Based on the emergence of protein engineering as a cutting-edge technology for enhancing enzyme activity and expression level, the present study is aimed at the application of this technique to the major cellulosomal processing endoglucanase of C. thermocellum, CelR for refining enzyme characteristics. Methods: The full-length native enzyme gene (CelR) and a truncated version without the docking domains at C-terminus (CelR-CB) were PCR amplified using gene specific primers. The amplified PCR products were T/A cloned in the vector pTZ57 R/T and transformed in E. coli DH5α. The cellulase genes from the confirmed transformed plasmids were sub-cloned in T7 promoter-based expression vector pET-28a and expression analysis was done in E. coli (DE3) BL21 codon Plus. Results: An SDS PAGE analysis of both the CelR derivatives revealed that the truncated version i.e. CelR-CB showed a two-fold increase in expression level as compared to the full-length enzyme. Conclusion: The increased expression level of CelR in E. coli coupled with its increased production therefore makes it a promising method for augmenting the recombinant enzyme production for potential applications.

    Pencapaian tamadun dalam Kerajaan Banu Marin era Sultan Abu Sa’id ‘Uthman II menyaksikan perkembangan yang berlaku secara perlahan dan mendatar. Namun begitu, pemerintahan Sultan Abu al-Hasan ‘Ali pada 731H/1331M telah menyaksikan beberapa perubahan yang berlaku dalam pemerintahan, sekaligus menjadikan era kegemilangan Kerajaan Banu Marin di al-Maghrib. Kerajaan Islam yang pernah bertapak sekitar tahun 1215M hingga 1465M di wilayah al-Maghrib, telah diperintah oleh 26 orang sultan yang mempunyai sejarah kecemerlangan dan kehebatan yang tersendiri. Oleh itu, kajian ini membincangkan mengenai ketokohan Sultan Abu al-Hasan ‘Ali (731-751H/1331-1351M) sebagai sultan teragung dalam Kerajaan Banu Marin sehingga kerajaan tersebut mencapai era kegemilangan dan kemasyhurannya di al-Maghrib al-Aqsa pada abad pertengahan. Di samping itu, kajian ini dilakukan untuk mengkaji latar belakang Sultan Abu al-Hasan ‘Ali daripada pelbagai aspek, selain peranan yang dimainkan oleh beliau dalam mengangkat Kerajaan Banu Marin sebagai sebuah kerajaan yang gemilang. Metode kajian ini menggunakan kaedah kualitatif, iaitu penyelidikan perpustakaan sepenuhnya melalui sumber bertulis sama ada sumber primer atau sekunder. Hasil kajian ini dapat mendedahkan kepada masyarakat usaha Sultan Abu al-Hasan ‘Ali dalam memastikan kerajaan yang dipimpin menjadi sebuah kerajaan yang berjaya dan cemerlang. Beliau merupakan pemerintah yang paling cemerlang dalam pemerintahan Kerajaan Banu Marin sehingga kerajaan tersebut mencapai ketamadunan yang tinggi dalam aspek politik, ekonomi, seni bina dan juga perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan
