An approach of using polymer natural fiber composite for vibration and flammability control

    Get PDF
Recently the development of natural fiber composite instead of synthetics fiber has lead to eco-friendly product manufacturing to meet various applications in the field of automotive, construction and manufacturing. In this present research, the effects of maleic anhydride polypropylene (MAPP) on the material characterization behaviour, mechanical properties, vibration damping properties and flammability properties of kenaf fiber and coir fiber reinforced polypropylene were investigated. Different fractions of composites with 10wt%-40wt% coir fiber (CF) and kenaf fiber (KF) content were prepared by using brabender mixer at 190 °C. The 3wt% MAPP was added during the mixing. The composites were subsequently fabricated with injection molding and hydraulic hot press to prepare the test specimens. The effect of MAPP on morphology, mechanical properties, physical properties, vibration damping properties and flammability properties of CF or KF composites were then investigated by using FTIR, SEM, tensile test, density test, transmissibility test and vertical flame test, respectively. The results revealed that the 30wt% modified kenaf fiber composite (m-PP/KF) shows the highest improvement in tensile strength compared to CF composites and unmodified composite which is 30.51 MPa. These results were also confirmed by the SEM machine observations of fracture surface of composites and FTIR analysis of the chemical structure. The result of damping analysis showed modified composites with MAPP in 30wt% CF or KF composites lead to good vibration damping which are increased up to 1017.7% and 756.9% compared to neat PP. On the other hand, the 30wt% m- PP/CF and 30wt% m-PP/KF showed the highest delay in first dripping time compared to neat PP which are increased up to 800% and 1000%. As the results, the presence of MAPP helps increasing on the mechanical properties, vibration damping properties and flammability properties of both fibers. The 30wt% kenaf fiber with 3wt% MAPP gives the best result compare to others

An Analytical Review of Different Concepts of Riba (Interest) in the Sub-Continent

    Get PDF
The traditional concept of Riba (interest) is an excess amount on loan, which creditor receives from debtor on the repayment of loan. There is almost a consensus on the sprit of this concept that it is traditional thought or school; but along with that some other point of views also exist, which present Riba, in somewhat different ways, will be termed as non-traditional approach in this paper. Both of these schools are agreed on the point that, Riba is just restricted to debt, and the increment on it is Riba; but the main difference among these is that: former approach claims that, each and every addition on loan, regardless of purpose and time duration of loan is Riba; but, the later approach demand’s some room for that on different grounds. Actually both of them do not have any sound base. When the concept of unearned income (the income, which is not the result of human labor), is a recognized fact in Islamic economics in different forms, like: ijara (rent), Mudoraba and Mazara’a (Share Cropping); then definitely no logical reason is left to avoid excess income on loan. Both approaches are just unable to give a concrete concept of Riba.Riba, Interest, Rent, Share Cropping

The Nature of Infaq and its Effects on Distribution of Weal

Infaq is one of the basic terms of Quran, which is used in Quran, at almost sixty places. It is basically pious spending in the way of Allah. It has a significant importance in Islamic economic principles, with reference to redistribution of wealth and elimination of poverty. At different places Quran has described its different aspects, e.g. its need, conditions, ways and monetary and non monetary results. It is used by holy prophet, Peace be upon him (P.B.U.H) at different occasions to fulfill the needs of individuals and society as well. In order to ensure the better distribution of wealth which is the need of time, it is necessary to follow the orders of Infaq as given in Quran, and also the guidelines provided by holy prophet P.B.U.H., therefore, the basic objective of this paper is to analyze the role of these spending particularly infaq as a tool of equitable income distribution in an Islamic society.Infaq Quran, Allah

A comprehensive, sustainable food security program for the Carver and Langston Communities of northeast Washington D.C.

As stated in the thesis project, "The Langston and Carver Communities are located in Ward 5. Carver/Langston Coalition, Inc. services the geographic area known as census tracks 89.3 and 89.4. Approximately ten thousand residents live in the two adjoining neighborhoods. They consist of multi unit apartments, town house style flats and single family residential housing. Historically, (CLC. Inc.) was founded to focus on strategies aimed at correcting some of the many similar problems faced by low income residents, (in particular, public assistance recipients), their families and communities. The mission of CLC, Inc. is to increase neighborhood education, socialization, and economic development through use of grant programs, contracts and innovative training methods. This strategy has been referred to as community-based, holistic, integrated and comprehensive. The major goals of CLC, Inc. are to move families towards self-sufficiency, their communities towards revitalization, and both towards community empowerment. Door to door surveys performed in 1995 by the Langston/Carver Community Building Project, a HUD funded empowerment program utilizing residents as interns of community development, revealed that an overwhelming majority of the residents in both public housing and low income rental properties viewed food and hunger as a major barrier towards achieving self sufficiency. In 1995 and 1996, the Carver/Langston Food Program, while distributing over two thousand pounds of free food weekly, observed that it only made a small dent in the total need and that regardless of how many truck loads of food were brought into the community to feed the needy, it was never enough. In 1997, with the help of grant funds obtained from non-profit philanthropic sources, the amount of food distributed was dramatically increased to 15 thousand pounds per month. Now, with larger distributions the impact is substantial, however, the need still far outweighs the available supply. As an ongoing priority to answer the needs of the community, CLC, Inc. seeks to establish a community wide initiative to reduce hunger, increase food nutrition, and provide savings on food supplies for many of it's residents. With the introduction of new welfare legislation in the District of Columbia, it is anticipated that many residents will face increasing food and nutrition related problems. When not addressed, these are real barriers that foster stress, perpetuate frustration, breed sickness and significantly hamper individual attempts to achieve self sufficiency. The residents of Carver Terrace and Langston Dwellings have expressed the need and desire for innovative food programs. During the goal setting process, while participating in a series of formal empowerment and capacity building workshops. And then, over the preceding years, many residents voted for and subsequently participated in what has now become the Carver/Langston Food Program. It is by far been CLC, Inc.'s most enthusiastically supported program and has the highest rate of participation and is the most asked for service from residents in both Carver and Langston." Father’s role in family planning

    Get PDF
When a married couple decides the optimum time to start a family, how many children they want, how long they want to wait between kids, and the type of contraception they want to use it is called family planning. In Asian countries like Pakistan, men are decision makers inside the families and dominantly take decisions about contraception, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STI), finance distribution for antenatal care, childbirth, and nutrition requirements during pregnancy. Financial status, misconception, myths, and lack of knowledge about the use of contraception are a few factors apart from religion and culture which influence the father’s role in family planning. Pakistan lags in almost all the developmental indicators, particularly in maternal and child health. The positive involvement of men in family planning will ultimately enhance the women\u27s reproductive and sexual health, and family dynamic, and the couple will evolve as a supportive and caring parent
