Mothers play different roles in their family which has an effect on  health and well being of all members of the family specially on children. Almost in all different societies around the world, they have been assigned to be primary care-givers to infants and children. The present study investigates the relationship of maternal care and its effects on the educational performance and health of children in Pakistan from a statistical perspective. The modeling and significance has been established by measures of association and automated linear regression

Biosecurity and Biosafety concerns of Research and diagnostic Laboratory under International Guidelines

    Get PDF
Currently, academic research labs and diagnostic laboratories are facing a serious issue of biosecurity and biosafety globally. The high rate of mutations and continuous new emerging infectious diseases with the risk of bioterrorism demands that each lab personnel share equal responsibility for biosecurity & biosafety at their work. The primary job of government authorities is to implement a well-organized detection system and limit the spread of hazardous biological agents by providing a biologically safe setting for lab scientists and for the common man in communities and institutes. The safety of lab personnel, lab environment, and pathogens depends on effective and safe laboratory working and pathogen handling which determines the reliable and accurate results of laboratory experiments. The aim of this article is to address the basic components of laboratory biosafety, laboratory biosecurity, and laboratory management. Further DURC (dual-use research of concern) deals with the commencement of lawful reasons to generate information, knowledge, technology, and products that are used for either harmful or beneficial purposes. The precautions are taken to ensure laboratory biosecurity and biosafety should be a part of the laboratory safety policy manual for guidance and implementation for a safe laboratory environment. Keywords: Antioxidants; tomato; lycopene; β-carotene; reactive oxygen species (ROS)

Nanopesticides in comparison with agrochemicals: Outlook and future prospects for sustainable agriculture

    Get PDF
Agrochemicals are products of advanced technologies that use inorganic pesticides and fertilizers. Widespread use of these compounds has adverse environmental effects, leading to acute and chronic exposure. Globally, scientists are adopting numerous green technologies to ensure a healthy and safe food supply and a livelihood for everyone. Nanotechnologies significantly impact all aspects of human activity, including agriculture, even if synthesizing certain nanomaterials is not environmentally friendly. Numerous nanomaterials may therefore make it easier to create natural insecticides, which are more effective and environmentally friendly. Nanoformulations can improve efficacy, reduce effective doses, and extend shelf life, while controlled-release products can improve the delivery of pesticides. Nanotechnology platforms enhance the bioavailability of conventional pesticides by changing kinetics, mechanisms, and pathways. This allows them to bypass biological and other undesirable resistance mechanisms, increasing their efficacy. The development of nanomaterials is expected to lead to a new generation of pesticides that are more effective and safer for life, humans, and the environment. This article aims to express at how nanopesticides are being used in crop protection now and in the future. This review aims to shed some light on the various impacts of agrochemicals, their benefits, and the function of nanopesticide formulations in agriculture

Corporate Social Responsibility and Firm Financial Performance: Moderating role of Ethical Leadership and Social Capital

    No full text
This study examines the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the firm financial performance in Pakistan with the mediating role of ethical leadership and social capital between CSR and financial performance. Data was collected by applying random probability sampling from 178 respondents through a survey method from employees of non-financial PSX listed firms. Linear regression was conducted through SPSS to test hypotheses. The regression results confirmed a positive and significant relationship between CSR and financial performance. The results further reveal a positive significant moderating role of ethical leadership between CSR and financial performance but no moderating role of social capital between CSR and financial performance. The study has implications for both scholars and management. The study has implications for both scholars and practitioners. The results reveal the vital role of a leader ethical conduct in implementing CSR practices and its positive effect on financial performance of an organization

Effects of mental imagery technique in addition to conventional physical therapy to improve hand functions in chronic stroke patient

Objective: To find the effect of mental imagery and conventional physical therapy for the treatment of hand function in chronic stroke patients. Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted at Rana and Alvi welfare society. A sample of 50 stroke patients was selected and divided in two groups; group A (experimental) and group B (control).  Inclusion and exclusion criteria were established and patients meeting inclusion criteria were included in the study. P value was set as 0.05. Group A was treated with conventional physical therapy combined with mental imagery whereas Group B was treated with conventional physical therapy alone. Wolf motor function test and action research arm test was used as outcome measures. Results: Group A consisted of 68% of females and 32% of males and group B comprised of 44% females and 32% males. Mean age of group A and B were 59.68 + 2.37 and 58.52 + 2.46 respectively. Mean duration (in months) of stroke for group A was 16.32+3.77 (minimum and maximum duration 13 and 23 months respectively). The stroke mean duration of group B was 16.00 +2.34 (minimum and maximum duration 13 and 20 months respectively). Both groups did not show significant difference at 5th week (P=0.721) whereas a significant difference was observed at 10th week (P=0.000) Conclusion: It was concluded that mental imagery technique in combination with conventional physical therapy is significantly effective to improve hand function among chronic stroke patients in comparison to conventional physical therapy alone. Some Fractional Operators with the Generalized Bessel-Maitland Function

    No full text
In this paper, we aim to determine some results of the generalized Bessel-Maitland function in the field of fractional calculus. Here, some relations of the generalized Bessel-Maitland functions and the Mittag-Leffler functions are considered. We develop Saigo and Riemann-Liouville fractional integral operators by using the generalized Bessel-Maitland function, and results can be seen in the form of Fox-Wright functions. We establish a new operator Z,η,ρ,γ,w,a+μ,,m,σφ and its inverse operator D,η,ρ,γ,w,a+μ,,m,σφ, involving the generalized Bessel-Maitland function as its kernel, and also discuss its convergence and boundedness. Moreover, the Riemann-Liouville operator and the integral transform (Laplace) of the new operator have been developed. © 2020 R. S. Ali et al

A COMPARATIVE STUDY TO DETERMINE THE EFFICACY OF ROUTINE PHYSICAL THERAPY TREATMENT WITH AND WITHOUT KALTENBORN MOBILIZATION ON PAIN AND SHOULDER MOBILITY IN FROZEN SHOULDER PATIENTS

    No full text
Background: Froze shoulder in other words adhesive capsulitis is a condition characterized by progressive loss of shoulder mobility with general symptoms of pain, limited range of motion and altered scapula thoracic rhythm. The condition is mostly treated by using traditional physical therapy measures the study was conducted with the aim to determine the efficacy of routine physical therapy treatment with and without Kaltenborn mobilization in reducing pain and increasing shoulder mobility in frozen shoulder patients. Methods: The study was conducted in the department of Physiotherapy mayo Hospital Lahore. A sample of 60 patients was collected by using non-probability, convenience sampling without any discrimination regarding, social economic status, education, out of which there were 8 drop outs. Sample was distributed in two groups (26 participants each) i.e. experimental group receiving routine physical therapy and Kaltenborn Mobilization technique and control group receiving the routine physical therapy only. Participants were recruited based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Demographic data and data regarding pain relief was collected using self-made questionnaire and penn shoulder scale questionnaire respectively. Results: Results were evaluated by using SPSS version 19.1 it was seen that range of motion of cervical region was greater for the experimental group than control group. The maximum PENN score achieved in control group were 51 however for experimental group the value was 64. Conclusion: It was concluded that kaltenborn mobilization is an effective means of treating frozen shoulder and when combined with routine physical therapy gives better results
